If you put in $1000 you and I should get $20 worth of stock. I got a fractional share of Alphabet. If you go to $2,000 you qualify for margin and the interest free loan of $1,000.
I meant the Tiers that you referenced. I didn’t see that on the site - it looks like they send personalized offers based on what you hold. I’ve had Public in the past ($2k for $100k), so I don’t think I’d be eligible for referral offer, but seems like I might be eligible for the below deal since it says existing:
I got the table from a web site such as :
I do not know what their customized offers would be, but I presume they would be generous if you held lots of options and appeared to be a active trader. Incidentally, their offers do include extra bonuses on options “Friends who sign up with your link will earn $0.10 per options contract traded.”
FWIW, my customized offer was a whopping $1.
Wow. Can you still take their standard offer?
IDK. I’m good. I decided to do CIti’s $500 for $50k. You have to call, so far it has been two 20 minute phone calls and there will be some Docusign. But $500 is still way more than my hourly rate at my job, so I’ll take it.
There is a very complex deal from Streetbeat, which offers $1250 for $100,000. However they do not offer IRA’s and their associated brokerage Aldelphia doe not accept transfers of securities. In my case I have had the “misfortune” to have most of my investments go up in price. Thus selling to get into cash and putting the money into them would create capital gain taxes. A few securities with losses might be sold and the money transferred in. In my circumstances I might reach $100,000 by taking required distributions for this year and adding other cash. This implies not having the earnings sheltered in a IRA for some months. The bonus scheme is complex, but if I understand correctly there is so much at each level, and additional fund can push you to a higher level. Thus you do not lose the total bonus if you have to take some money out.
The firm offering the bonuses is not the broker, and you have to subscribe to their services. It is $120 per year for portfolios designed by their artificial intelligence. It can function as a ordinary brokerage account where you buy and sell stocks. I also notice a $100 transfer out fee. Thus, a $1250 bonus mioght end up netting about $1,000. I can say little about how easy their site is to use, or what value their artificial intelligence portfolios might have. There may be other joker’s I have not noticed.

Just talked to CITI, they are offering $5,000 for $2,000.000 with fairly with good terms for smaller amounts. They seem to run offer every quarter. Can sign up and make first transfer by end of month, and then bring total to goal by end of quarter to get reward. Reward based on total IRA and taxable.
Robinhood is advertisihng.
" 12 days. 3 offers. The sweetest rewards.
For 12 days only, there’s no limit to what you can earn. Get 3% on IRA transfers with Robinhood Gold, 2% on transfers with a minimum $10,000 margin balance, and 1% on brokerage transfers. Terms apply." It looks like you could create a margin balance to get more generous offer. " From October 16, 2024 to October 27, 2024, we’re offering 3 exclusive bonuses for transfers into your Robinhood account from external brokerages:
- 1% bonus on transfers to your Robinhood joint or individual investing account from an external brokerage
- 2% bonus on transfers with a margin balance of $10,000 or more to your Robinhood joint or individual investing account from an external brokerage
- 3% on transfers to your Robinhood IRA with a Robinhood Gold subscription, excluding rollovers"
For Citi, you have to keep the funds for 1 month after the end of the funding quarter so ideally you’d start funding it in late October, final fund transfer up to $2M before December 31st, wait until Feb 1st to withdraw the funds. Bonus will be deposited on May 1st. So you really only lock your funds for just over a month which is not bad for 0.25% bonus. Probably cannot rinse and repeat it every quarter since you’re waiting quite a while between funding and receiving the bonus.
For Robinhood, that’s the main issue. The 3% on IRA transfers sound very tempting but you have to keep the money with them for 5 years.
The CITI offer can be done every quarter, so the few who can move millions might gradually shift their funds to CITI at 2 million per quarter.
US Bank is advertising on their site a new credit card that pays 4% on everything if you have a $100,000 balance in qualifying funds, which apparently is to include their investment accounts. They could be very attractive if you spend a lot on credit cards. They are just building a waiting list for applications so I do not know what the exact terms will be.
Good deal, except the management of the $2M. I’ve got those large funds in Vanguard. Movement is not that easy. Wow, offer being done every quarter…
The CITI offer is for their self managed accounts, and can include IRA or taxable brokerage accounts, and even some in each. I think the lowest amount for a bonus is $50,000. If they get a few dollars in October, you have till end of year to get the full amount transferred in. I requested opening a new brokerage account so I could get a few dollars sent in by ACT to start the clock while transfers take place. The basic offer is good till the end of the year, but the holding dates may be later if no money reaches them in October.
By the way, for those with a spouse and just $2M in funds to move, you may want to have yourself and your spouse each do the $1M deposit for which the bonus is $3k ($3k x 2 > $5k).
The other bonuses for less than $2M aren’t too bad either: Terms & Conditions
Thank you @Shandril and @ProfessorEd . I did not dig into the details and thought the minimum was $2M in cash friendly funds. This seems like a no-brainer, especially if retirement funds account for the minimum. The quarterly duration is great, as just about everyone is willing to pay closing/transfer costs.
I just received my invitation to apply for the US Bank Smartly card. It still appears to offer a 4% cash back if you have $100,000 in assets in qualified assets, and these seem to include US Bankcorp investments. I can put enough assets into them to qualify. Am I reading the offers right.? If I am, questions are how to be sure of getting card and good limit. I was wondering if transferring the assets in first might encourage them to give a higher limit on the card (I have high tuition payments of about $15,000 I make via credit cards so this could be very useful).
I recently was declined for a Wells Fargo card in site of very high credit scores and several hundred thousand in the investment account, when they observed the associated checking account had little funds and was little used. I wonder if I would get a similar reaction from US Bank in spite of long term credit card relationships and banking (but with little activity in banking). Has anyone here applied for this card and had any experience. Any problems in getting securities into an account?
Count your blessings. They are a royal pain to deal with. I keep one account there with $500 to avoid fees. It’s my backup transfer bank.
