Etrade is running a promo through 6/15 for account transfers with the following incentives:

How long do you need to keep the money at Etrade? Hopefully not too long since the 0.2% of transferred balance bonus seems kinda so-so to me compared to other brokerages.

Sweet. I will need a place to park my money after I collect my 1% bonus from Sofi early next year. I don’t trade much so it doesn’t really matter who holds it.

Per DOC,

Ally Invest $200 Bonus With $1,000 Deposit For 30 Days (Nationwide; **New Ally Invest) Customers Only)

  • Open an Ally brokerage Self-Directed Trading account and get a $200 bonus when you transfer at least $1,000 into the account:
    1. Open an eligible new Self-Directed Trading account by selecting Open Account on this page by 10/15/2025.
    2. Transfer in a minimum of $1,000 into the new account within 60 days of opening it. (FYI: It’s OK to do so over multiple transfers.)
    3. That’s it — keep your account open and in good standing to receive your $200 bonus.

The Fine Print

  • Valid from 8/7/25 through 10/15/25.
  • New customers to Ally Invest (who do not currently have, nor previously had, an account with Ally Invest) can get a cash bonus of $200 for opening an eligible Ally Invest Self-Directed Trading account or Robo Portfolio account and meeting the below criteria.
  • Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), trust accounts, and Personal Advice accounts are not eligible.
  • Transfer a minimum of $1,000 in cash and/or securities within 60 days of account opening. You can make multiple transfers to reach the minimum requirement of $1,000.
  • Keep your account open and in good standing under the AIS Customer agreement until we add the bonus to your account. We’ll pay your bonus within 30 days of your account reaching $1,000.
  • Note: Market activity that causes your portfolio value to rise above $1,000 will not qualify; also note that instances of market volatility causing your portfolio to drop below $1,000 will not disqualify you.
  • Bank and investment bonuses are taxable and typically get reported by the bank on a Form 1099.

I just did that one. I will warn you. Their website is very quirky and it took me about an hour to get through the process.

They seemingly also give an extra 75 if you transfer in 2500 via acat to cover the fees, but they don’t check.

I did that one this morning and it took me less than 10 minutes. I don’t know if it made any difference that I already have an Ally Savings account and I transferred the money in from that account.
