Does the coronavirus merit investment, or personal, concern or consideration?

White House staffer on Air Force One tests positive for COVID. Biden tests negative

And if I may add: Thank God. No way in hell do I want President Biden to contract COVID or any other threatening disease. Period!

But this is a close call. They are continuing to test the President frequently. All we can do is hope for the best. Here is a link to the full story of how this came about, from NPR:

President Biden is OK so far

While the O variant is not serious for many, for someone of President Biden’s age it could become a grave matter. He must remain well.

Not to disparage the corvette stealer, but for the rest of us, it is a grave matter. Can you imagine the cougher’s vp as POTUS? Even commie’s may cringe at that thought.

ETA: Commies will not cringe they will (another c word) at that thought.

48 test positive for COVID on world’s biggest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas

One definition of insanity:

Climb aboard a cruise ship with 6000 other souls in the middle of a pandemic, and head out to sea.

Can you say: “Welcome to the Royal Caribbean petri dish”

You could more easily feel sorry for these people were they not so stupid.

Royal Caribbean hosts COVID

Then why did Uncle Joe, in his (and his namesake’s) infinite wisdom declare pandemic cruises safe?

ETA: THE above was a kneejerk reaction. I think that if idiots want to jump into a petri dish, they should be allowed to do so, even with their kids. I do not think the govt, even (“where am I” Joe’s govt) should be held responsible for idiots.

My apologies to those with idiot parents. … have I got all of the ambulance/offendee chasers covered?

And I strongly agree. However, as I said, please do not request I feel sorry for these folks should they become ill at sea.

I very strongly agree, right across the board.

Have you never watched the show The Last Ship? If you can get everyone on board uninfected, that ‘petri dish’ becomes the safest place on the planet.

Nope. Cannot say I have.

Ahhhh, there’s the rub. Royal Caribbean tried to do that. They were as thorough as modern science allows.

Clearly that was not good enough. And that gap, that inability adequately to test, is something about which my gut would have warned me in advance. I would never have climbed aboard that ship.

From the article

The new vaccine will still need to undergo phase 2 and phase 3 trials.

Phase 2 does it work
Phase 3 is it better than available alternatives

“We want people to be able to gather” over the holidays, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said in an interview Wednesday on CNN. “And safe gathering includes, of course, being vaccinated, ideally being boosted and making sure that all the people who you gather with are also vaccinated and boosted.”

So now we’ve moved past race, and are actively encouraging division within families.

Safe gatherings require people not attend when they have symptoms of being ill… Nothing more.

PFE’s pill approved. Based on the mechanism, it should work just as well with O vs prior types, although it has not specifically been tested on that.

Paxlovid is expected to be available at pharmacies and hospitals in the coming days. Initial supplies will be limited, until Pfizer can ramp up production.

The U.S. will have more than 250,000 courses of treatment available in January, President Biden said.

… actively and vociferously ostracizing the unvaxxed. They should have to wear an orange “U” patch on their clothing, and possibly be numbered so that the sanctified, pure, vaccinated can permanently identify the heathens.

To clarify, heathens are now defined as those not of the body of the vaxxed … per Landrieu.

President has signed nothing regarding tests

Under promise over deliver is not Biden’s way

January delivery subjected to serious question

Biden’s recent promise of test kit availability for every American home by January might not come true. This is from the NY Post, with credit as well to the NY Times:

Days after President Biden publicly promised to provide 500 million free at-home rapid COVID-19 tests, his administration has still not signed any contracts — leading experts to deride it as nothing but a “hope.”

The president has already been accused of being caught unprepared when he announced the vague plans for a testing spree only on Tuesday, two years into the pandemic.

Now the New York Times has revealed that contracts have yet to be signed, and are unlikely to be until next week at the earliest — with the eventual rollout of his promise potentially taking months after that.

So don’t count your chickens when it comes to free COVID testing. You can get the full scoop here:

Promised free test kit January availability in doubt

The other concern I personally have is that, in light of the above failure, test kit manufacturers will be subjected to TREMENDOUS pressure to produce the COVID test kits and ship in time for January delivery to homes. This could easily lead to quality problems resulting in unreliable tests. The matter is not being handled well. I already can smell wasted taxpayer money.

Covid humor

When asked by CNN’s Anderson Cooper if people should continue to take booster shots for a vaccine that isn’t a vaccine, Dr. Fauci replied, “You know that’s a great question, but it’s just too soon to tell if a vaccine is a vaccine until it doesn’t work. So, I’m going to have to say that we need to keep jabbing and keep masking until something works. That’s science.”

Have you learned nothing? People without symptoms can still spread the virus.
