Does the coronavirus merit investment, or personal, concern or consideration?

Trumplicans will eat it up.

Oh wait…

People are saying fire is effective at killing viruses. I’m no doctor, but it seems to me, if we set ourselves on fire, just a little bit, a nice medical dose, it should clear it right up. Maybe just suck on a flamethrower and a quick shot of flame to the lungs. Could work. Might be interesting to look into.

Reverse fire breathing.

The idea is definitely not outrageous. But it’s also just about as wide a concept as the whole of medication discovery. SARS-CoV-2 is not even a difficult virus to deactivate since it’s enveloped by a lipid shell rather than having a tough protein capsid shell like a norovirus. Alcohols will esterify those lipid shells easily, quaternary ammonium compounds should break either lipid or protein shells (preventing replication), and bleach and oxidizers will just break down the virus proteins themselves. The only but crucial caveat is that none of these disinfectants are tolerated by our regular cells either because they are structured very similarly to the virus. So you need “a disinfectant” that is incredibly selective towards the virus and not our own cells.

That’s what’s missing from POTUS’ layman injection statement. Problem is, it’s effectively the billion dollar question on what that ultra-selective disinfectant looks like, and because he used the easily relatable term disinfectant, it also gives the impression that the solution is something simple nobody has thought of before.

Beyond the altruistic reasons, IF - sadly totally hypothetical since that’s not my expertise - but IF I could discover that “disinfectant” specific to SARS-CoV-2, I’d be both famous, an international hero, and a very wealthy person very soon so it’s not for lack of will/incentives that a cure/vaccine is taking so long to come.

Only one thing I have to say on this matter.

I used to think you folks that write here on fragile were a bunch of smart dudes. Now I know you are just A STUPID FLOCK of geese.

Trump knows how CNN & friends will rush about & commentate. That’s their fake news for today! (& you all are following right along)

CNN is not a news organization. It is instead an important DNC propaganda mouthpiece.

Is everyone ready? The coronavirus task force presser will commence very shortly. Star of the show will be, of course:

President Donald J. Trump, greatest POTUS of this century.

Funny, I was just going to post the same thing, but exactly the opposite. It’s clear that many Trump supporters are indoctrinated into a cult. There’s honestly no other explanation. Trump says the most idiotic stuff, pathologically lies, and there are always explanations about what he really meant. When actual words he says are reported, it’s “fake news.” It’s just astonishing to me that a con man with fairly low intelligence is able to pull this off in the United States. I never would have thought it could happen and it’s really terrifying and sad.

What happened? The “star” read some stuff off cards in his monotone 7th grade reading style, deferred to Pence, then walked out, too afraid to have to answer any questions about his idiocy yesterday. Sad!

Nooope

This is not Trump being a master manipulator

This is Trump being a ignoramus on live TV in front of the whole world while a Doctor sitting next to him visibly winces

And the MAGA hats all excuse it away because… WTF do they?.. ?

Sorry, but there most assuredly IS another explanation. It’s a binary political system here in the USA. This is not Canada, for example, where there are multiple significant political parties. Here we have just two political parties of any importance, the Republicans and the Democrats.

I find the policy objectives and thinking of Democrats abhorrent, completely intolerable, and wildly at odds with traditional American values. Socialism did not build America and make this country great.

Point is, what you view as one dimensional support for President Trump, whom you abhor I understand, is in reality multi-faceted hatred for virtually all Democrat positions on any issue you might care to consider.

We put up with Trump’s eccentricities because he alone is willing to be the point of the spear aimed at the very heart and soul of wicked and distorted Democrat thinking. Trump is not perfect . . . far from it. But he is the best we have, and he is hugely preferable to Democrats right across the board.

I’m wondering if Biden or Hilary or Obama were standing at the podium making the identical remarks Trump makes, whether Trump supporters would defend them.

And then say “He means what he says” and, then, when it makes no sense “He doesn’t mean what he says.”

The most astonishing thing is Trump is an absolutely terrible administrator and executive who knows very little about anything. He has crippled the government by hiring and firing people willy-nilly and many of the execs are “acting” because he hasn’t appointed anyone. It does nothing for the stability of the organization. He has no experience being held responsible for anything as he was born a multi-millionaire and inherited his company which is private. Any other CEO responsible to a board or shareholders would have been fired long ago just for six bankruptcies.

This is a man who pardons war criminals and fires war heroes!

The problem with Trump supporters is they see any criticism as a partisan attack instead of someone just wanting someone competent behaving competently. Trump is a textbook case of how not to handle a pandemic.

No thats not it

calling it “eccentricities” is rather than acknowledging the mans deluge of pathological lying and incompetence is good example of the problem we’re talking about here

I’m not trying to paint all Trump voters in the same light here. Some very well know that Trump is incompetent but will vote for him as the ‘lesser of two evils’ (in their opinion). But continually excusing his actions is another matter.

There are reasonable leaders in the GOP who disdain Trump and all but say so. I’m sure many Republicans only tolerate him since hes not a Democrat.

BTW, this is despicable.

Al Gore was merely being sarcastic when he said he invented the Internet and Republicans all immediately dismissed it as not a big deal…

Whom would you suggest, Argyll? I’m willing to listen.

Give me a name, a person who would be equally staunch as Trump has been in advancing Conservative objectives, but who would be more acceptable to you.

Please keep in mind that, prior to his defeat of Hillary, Trump vanquished umpteen challengers in the primary on the Republican side. There was good reason for this. Trump’s opponents were halfhearted, worthless, Republican wimps (remember, I am NOT a Republican).

The only name I can conjure is the guy I supported against Trump in that contest, and I lost, Ted Cruz. All the rest were like McCain and Romney, wanting to compromise with Democrats and find middle ground. When you do that, you are compromising with pure evil.

I suggest you stop calling compromise and Democrats pure evil.

What are you then?

Just a guy that votes for Republicans ?
