"green energy" feasibility and investment opportunities

There’s a graph at the link that makes it more clear. According to it, it’s a fraction of a degree vs doing nothing at all, meaning temperatures will continue to rise.

There just are not enough people living in North America and Europe to have major impact, especially considering our existing progress thanks to use of natural gas. South America also is not a large factor.

The “big kahunas” are China and India. But neither is focused on climate change, and there’s not a darn thing we can do about that.

Think about it. If you take the current population of China and subtract one BILLION souls, you still have remaining enough people to populate North America ex Mexico.

Here’s that in graphical form. The US has been fairly flat for decades despite rising production, GDP, etc, due to our improvements in efficiency and pollution controls. India and China, not so much.

The important things about India:

  • Very large population

  • PM Modi is “damn the torpedoes” determined to explode development of the country over the upcoming 25 years

You see evidence of the latter with India’s continued purchase of cheap Russian energy despite Ukraine. India, under Modi, is focused on India. Period.

So he could just reduce the allowed amounts / leased areas to make it cost-prohibitive (“see, it’s not paused, it is modified!”). A “potentially fatal blow” is only potentially fatal.

Agreed. The Democrats and their lawless administrative state are indeed a powerful force They will not let a little thing like a judge enforcing the law stop them.

Germany to Prioritize Coal Trains Over Passenger Services

Unlike the idiotic residents of New England, Germans are averse to the notion of freezing to death in their dwellings in the dark.

The university of Texas rakes it in from oil leasing despite the Biden administration lockdown

Harvard’s Endowment Suffers Through Woke Investing While The University Of Texas Drills Oil And Rakes In Cash

While Harvard University rejects investments related to fossil fuels and is suffering in the current stock market, the University of Texas is continuing to lease its land for oil drilling, and its endowment could overtake Harvard’s.

Surprise surprise! This is a little more than the government handout for electric vehicles in the Democrats’ bring back inflation package.

A little known fact is that provisions of this idiotic law will kick in as soon as 2026.

This won’t be happening all at once, though. Instead, CARB will set quotas at various points in time between now and 2035. Starting with the 2026 model year, the regulations will require 35% of passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks to be zero-emission versions. That will increase to about 51% in 2028, growing in stringency each year until it reaches 100% in 2035.

Here are the projected 2022 sales of electric cars in California. The sales figures are highly distorted by supply chain shortages. For example, overall vehicle sales are down 18% from 2021.

some good news out of Japan. The newly elected Prime Minister Kishida is also building up the Japanese military to stand up to China.

  • On Wednesday, the prime minister of Japan said his country would restart more idled nuclear power plants and look into the feasibility of developing next-gen reactors.

CA hates gas cars, but doesn’t have the grid for EVs.

Come on, we all know that horse and buggies do not comply with CA’s regulations, since horses clearly produce “emissions”.

But the euro bureaucrats are doubling down.
“The skyrocketing electricity prices are now exposing, for different reasons, the limitations of our current electricity market design,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen remarked during a speech Monday. “It was developed under completely different circumstances and for completely different purposes. It is no longer fit for purpose.”

Von der Leyen blamed the record price increases on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which has upended global energy markets but added that the crisis was evidence the bloc needed to transition further to green energy. Russia has throttled natural gas supplies to Europe in response to the EU’s sanction packages introduced following the February invasion.

The prospect of electric power blackouts like this heat wave weekend in California tends to focus the mind.

Edit. Here is Newsweek’s take on it. Worrisome! LOL. I live in Northern California in the neighborhood of the plant and “what me worry?”
