Hospital charges when attacked by random stranger in public places

Yeah really.

All hospitals and doctors since forever : “Oh we’ve absolutely no idea what things cost, its just way to hard to find out.”

Now when they want immediate up front payment : “Your exact bill due is this amount $XXXX.xx. Pay up now before service.”

Hospital’s line of reasoning is that, by their contract they know how much is your liability and they want to get paid now.

That wouldn’t fly with our insurance or, I suspect, any contract they have with an insurance company that doesn’t allow this.

FYI, this is how my hospital dealt with for ER visits. For extended stays they might deal with differently.
