Rouble=Oil. Dinar=Oil etc.
They can’t support their current economy without exporting their oil, gas, and metals. However, the average people in Russia are able and used to endure incredible hardship. They’ve done so throughout history and see it as patriotism and love for the motherland.
Another round of boycotts
Sources in Russia say this will cost the Russian economy over 3,000 jobs, which were previously filled with people working full-time writing phony dossiers for Hillary Clinton. In a statement, President Putin said he was sad to see his close, longtime relationship with Clinton going south. “I thought that big red reset button meant something to you!” he said.
For the time being, the Clintons have committed to buying their disinformation only from domestic sources like The Washington Post.
Pimco is long lots of Russian debt, sold insurance ( CDS) on Russia debt against nonpayment, and the kicker is that they’re on the board that interprets whether this weird sanction situation “counts” as a default when they’ve got a billion bucks on the line.
Where IS Bill Gross when you need him?!!
And speaking of Bill:
Bill Gross: Prepare for lower investment returns as inflation holds at 4%-5% for years
There is never a dull moment.
war’s getting serious, we’re banning russian alcohol imports. maybe time to start hording the top shelf Russian vodka?
RSX options must be exercised by specific request since it’s halted and no one knows what it’s worth.
With fuel prices soaring, the Ukraine war has placed new attention on Russia’s efforts over the years to fund anti-fossil-fuel “green” groups in Western Europe and the U.S. Their lobbying has helped deepen the world’s dependence on Russian fossil fuels while sapping the U.S. oil and natural gas industry of its momentum—even as the shortcomings of green technologies become more obvious, with power outages and rolling blackouts in places like California.
And I was sure this was sourced from the Bee. Naturally, truth is stranger than fiction. Does this mean the all of the green and tesla raffling “organizations” are out supporting Putin and publishing pro-Russia tweets? Or, are they providing their support secretly?
ETA:
None of which I’m aware.
I don’t think so. It’s more the other way around and has been for quite a long while. Putin has been supporting American anti-drilling advocates on the quiet. You will NEVER read about this in the American mainstream media. Such information, while true, does not fit their far left wing template at all.
Sorry, I forgot to insert the emoticon that means “smarta**” comment, wherever it is.
Macro piece on Russia, China. Trade, energy prices, etc.
There’s a heckuva lot of information in those charts, one of which may be positive (not great, but positive) for savers (vs investors):
Sorry, no dice.
You would need to show me mainstream TV coverage, or coverage by the NY Times, the WAPO, PBS, and so forth.
Of course a lot of news can be found from non-mainstream sources. In addition:
Putin’s shenanigans with the American greenies were going on for a long time with no coverage. But recently, with the left taking Putin to task for Ukraine, that is changing. Better late than never?
Sure, but still the sources I just cited either remain silent, or:
What they sometimes do is to give such news short shrift. To wit:
The story will be covered one time for just a few seconds by a mainstream source, just so they can say it was covered. If you blink you miss it. And there is no follow up.
You can always tell which stories fit the mainstream news’ template. Such news will be broadcast over and over and over . . . . ad infinitum. The endless attacks and smears on Trump are an example.
Mainstream news is not really news. It is left wing propaganda.
Indeed. And, as this latest Ukrainian situation has shown us, Nazi loving and war mongering propaganda no less!
Bloomberg) – Chinese stocks listed in Hong Kong had their worst day since the global financial crisis, as concerns over Beijing’s close relationship with Russia and renewed regulatory risks sparked panic selling.
The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index closed down 7.2% on Monday, the biggest drop since November 2008. The Hang Sang Tech Index tumbled 11% in its worst decline since the gauge was launched in July 2020, wiping out $2.1 trillion in value since a year-earlier peak.
The broad rout follows a report citing U.S. officials that Russia has asked China for military assistance for its war in Ukraine. Even as China denied the report, traders worry that Beijing’s potential overture toward Vladimir Putin could bring a global backlash against Chinese firms, even sanctions. Sentiment was also hurt by a Covid-induced lockdown in the southern city of Shenzhen, a key tech hub, and the northern province of Jilin
Indeed. And, as this latest Ukrainian situation has shown us, Nazi loving and war mongering propaganda no less!
That is a grotesque reach.
The gloves are off - the Russians sanctioned Hunter, his dad, and a bunch of other top US officials.
I can’t imagine how the sanctioned Western leaders and their families are going to survive without being able to visit Moscow and do business with Putin and the other oligarchs. Now that is gonna show them not to mess up with a lunatic, murderous criminal.
