That may be true and worth it for some people to try. For me, not worth the chance I will be without internet for some period of time.
Why do you have to be without internet? Can’t you schedule the disconnect of the old service after connecting the new service?

True that. You can always call on the last day and ask for current promos. If there are none just go for another month at the higher rate and then prep to switch. Possibly you will get a refund if you only use a week at the higher rate.

Only the first time you switch to a new provider, assuming that your home isn’t already connected. If you go back-and-forth between connected providers, or use different names with the same provider, there should not be anything to install.
