Ok I get what you’re saying now after reading the newest article on the subject:
According to this, the court “found that Cox’s doctor did not assert a “good faith belief” about whether Cox’s condition met the law’s standard”, so it sounds like he followed the law as written and could not perform the abortion. Previous articles were not as clear to me on this point, so I thought that the doc just wasn’t sure.
If you start with the presumption the state is a pro-life nutcase making incoherant a$$hole decisions just because they can, you’re conclusion is always going to be that any “confusion” or “uncertainty” is the state’s fault.
Remove those preconceptions, and you start to see that the doctor’s “uncertainty” is due to his personal bias that an abortion in general is a “right”, conflicting with these circumstances not fitting the criteria under the law. Not due to uncertainty in the law.
Like the general tone of the article, this seems like a good idea in general. But it seems to have a very heavy stench of arrogance on the part of the do-gooders. It’s one thing if these hospitals are selling off their bad debts to other debt collectors, and could instead sell to this RIP group at similar prices. But these hospitals don’t sell their bad debts by policy, and it’s no ones place to shame them for not doing so. This RIP group wants the hospital to cut them a deal, so that they can turn around and get some glory. If willing to pay more to what the hospital values the debt, I’m sure the hospitals would reconsider.
And I understand the hospital’s arguments too; rather than pay for care using proper channels that are available, lots of people will find it easier to just do nothing and hope someone takes care of the debt on the back end. That strategy doesn’t do anyone, except the lazy and irresponsible, any good.
California lawmakers gaveled in today for the 2024 legislative session with plenty to do, but scant cash to go around — and protesters supporting a ceasefire in Gaza prompting a quick adjournment.
Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel, an Encino Democrat who just took over as chairperson of the budget committee, said the deficit is likely to impact everything the Legislature does this year.
“It’s going to require us to make some tough choices. But that’s what government is about — making tough choices,” he told CalMatters. “Our top priority is going to be to protect vulnerable communities.”
On the FAA’s website, the agency claims that people with “severe” mental and physical disabilities are the most under-represented segment of the federal workforce.
No sh!t Sherlock. It’s because most of the time such disabled persons are incapable of fulfilling the duties of the job.
Like many large employers, the agency proactively seeks qualified candidates from as many sources as possible, all of whom must meet rigorous qualifications that of course will vary by position,” the FAA said.
Background on how they were dumbing down their difficult entrance testing and relevant requirements experience to let in More Unqualified Blacks, which was clearly a higher goal than flight safety under Obama.
I’ve almost quit flying and don’t live in a flight path. I am all for DEI for the FAA, flight controllers, and international flight controllers. Put every victim class in the FAA and remove all capable non-victim classes. That should improve the opportunities for up and coming victims.
Cuban, who recently sold a majority interest in the Dallas Mavericks but retained operational control of the team, countered Musk’s viewpoint with a series of tweets emphasizing the advantages of DEI programs.
“Good businesses look where others don’t, to find the employees that will put your business in the best possible position to succeed,” Cuban asserted. “By extending our hiring search to include them, we can find people that are more qualified. The loss of DEI-Phobic companies is my gain.”
Musk, however, remained skeptical, mockingly asking Cuban, “Cool, so when should we expect to see a short white/Asian women on the Mavs?”
This is true, you can find hidden gems in unexpected places. And smart businesses will look for them in all corners. What the DEI nuts miss is that you can find them, not that you will find them. Yet their ideal end result, and primary measure of compliance, requires making hires from those unexpected places whether they’re hidden gems or not.
Nobody is against hiring a dyslexic asian dwarf who is an ace at some skill your business requires. They’re against hiring a dyslexic asian dwarf simply because you dont already have a “representative” number of dyslexic asian dwarfs on staff.
It’s no different than the FAA thing earlier - it’s so sad the FAA doesnt employ a representative number of persons with severe intellectual disabilities, but that’s because those with severe intellectual disabilities are generally incapable of doing the job at all, let alone doing it as well as other available candidates.
Images generated by the feature included a female pope, a black George Washington, and other racially diverse recreations of historic figures.
During his appearance at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Hassabis said that the feature was “not working in the way we intended.”
Gemini’s chat feature has also refused to say that pedophilia is wrong but had no trouble condemning the use of the n-word. It also could not define what a woman is.
Gemini has also refused to give a straightforward answer when asked whether popular conservative figures were better or worse than dictators of the past such as Hitler and Stalin.
More on Google’s Ai - when asked to comment about a book critical of Google, it knew it was Bad, and made up quotes and sources from real newspapers in support, none of which existed.
“Here at Google, we remain unabashedly committed to racism,” said CEO Sundar Pichai. "However, we do admit that our rabid racial animus was maybe too ‘in-your-face’ for version one of our Gemini AI. We will redouble our efforts to ensure our hateful bigotry is less obvious in future updates
A really good article on how woke the Google AI is, just like its creators and their Marxist approach to reconstructing society and our beliefs in their image.
Ask Gemini which ethnic group commits the most crime in America and it will refuse to answer because such a question is “misleading and harmful” It redirects you to an advocacy site for “creating a more just and equitable criminal justice system.” Ask it if there is a difference between a trans man and a biological man, and you will be directed to critical gender theory. Ask it if men can have vaginas, and it will tell you it depends, and then it directs you to “reliable sources” which are — surprise! — trans activist groups.
In fact, on every contentious contemporary issue, I was unable to find a single one that didn’t reflect the most far-left position, while offering no alternative resources to balance it out. It’s critical theory all the way down — presented as objective fact.
Yes. Pichar claimed the images were offensive. Wrong. They are the most obvious but all the output is biased.
Edit. Amazingly, Google is playing the victim card. See how the CNBC story plays interference for Krawczyk. CNBC is wrong. There’s plenty of evidence of his bias.
By then, Krawczyk had taken much of the heat as reportsresurfaced some of his old posts. Critics claimed, without evidence, that he had an “anti-white” agenda and included images of Krawczyk in their posts and responses. X CEO Elon Musk, who has frequently attacked Google’s business, amplified those voices on his platform, singling out Krawczyk.
Krawczyk has since removed images of himself as well as any identifying information from social media platforms.
