Social credit in America - Politics invades personal finance

Translation:
“His illegal behavior doesn’t count, because we weren’t supposed to see any evidence of it.”

The hunter laptops are old news. Now it’s time for the left media to move on to suppressing the disaster in Afghanistan and to cancel anyone who calls out Biden’s handlers for it.

some satire:

Next steps for Afghanistan blame game:

  1. Blame Trump and his supporters.
  2. Social Media starts censoring “Afghan denialism and misinformation”.
  3. Dept of Homeland Security - Terror Threat Alert warns of “possible local terrorism threats from purveyors of Afghan misinformation”.

The point is with a corrupted chain of evidence you have no way of knowing if what’s on the machine is his or disinformation.

It is impossible to defeat a sufficiently evil insurgent group with substantial untouchable backing. To defeat the Taliban would require going after Pakistan–and that would be a nuclear war.

And they made damn sure we still have no way of knowing, didnt they? That’s the whole point, how all the talking heads practically tripped over themselves to avoid even asking the questions to anyone who was in a position to actually answer them with any certainty either way.

Trump would agree with you on that!

(This is pure speculation, but this seems to be the thread for it. )

  • Unless the machine were infected with malware, and you couldn’t find / root our the source, or if you had determined it to be in a mailbox file.
  • Unless you worked for Best Buy
  • Unless you worked for Apple (not for email, just pictures)

I think it more likely that providence led to the discovery.

Just to be clear, if a scenario makes no sense to you, you must a̶c̶q̶u̶i̶t̶ not investigate?

One would think - OTOH, you could hire an ex MI6 “spy” to create a dossier out of whole cloth, leak the contents, say the contents have been investigated and double-secret fact checked and repeat it in front of every available camera ad infinitum.

So when you don’t have an answer you change the topic rather than admit it.

Wasn’t it considered abandoned property at the point that the repairman (aka new owner) went digging through the files?

That isnt changing the topic. It’s highlighting an example of how another questionable story was reported when it supports the desired narrative.

To clarify, Biden’s handlers could have done what President Trump did: Leave a garrison of a few thousand men there. That left the country stable with minimal risk to the soldiers.

The Taliban basically controlled the country already. The garrison controlled Kabul but not much else.

This is false. Just look at the difference to women and girls between then and now or in the near future. Women could appear in public without a burka and being accompanied by a man. Girls could go to school. Want to bet that will soon go away?

No, I point out the fallacy, by example, of flawed logic. Of course, being a “computer” identity-of-the-day, you should know about logic, or lack of it.

And by the lack of response to my other comment, we can presume that you believe that you are the judge of what makes sense, and if it doesn’t make sense to you, we should ignore all facts to the contrary.

But that would’ve left a safe haven for all the enlightened women there. Now they have no place to go and have to hope that the medieval assholes have moved at least a few hundred years further down the culture track.

It’s a difficult deal - I understand the desire to disengage (both from Trump and Biden) but don’t understand why we still station thousands of troops all over the world and now Afghanistan is done. That’s another argument that the folks that wanted us to stay have made.

Chase canceling a pardoned Trump official’s bank and credit accounts over their “reputational risk”. He replied testily online pointing out JPM Chase settled for nearly $1B for market price fixing with the DOJ, and they’re worried about his reputation?

Oddly, I don’t see this happening to any Antifa or BLM organizers.

TBH, most Antifa are nearly destitute and/or live in mom’s basement… at least that is the situation here in Oregon. As for BLM, well, the movement’s leaders prefer to quickly buy expensive homes rather than keeping the money in bank accounts.

Kinda wondering why this thread is still in Finance board instead of being in Off topic since it has had very little related to actual Finance for a very long time now. Maybe it’s just me wishing for something actionable on Finance boards these days.
