The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

"* A family of four was targeted for flying Pride flags on their boat, one of the passengers told Insider.

  • A blue vessel circled the family and shouted homophobic abuse, the passenger said.
  • The family rescued the couple after their boat burst into flames. They never thanked them for it."

Which people would you want as neighbors?

That’s because it was a tiny fraction of the damage of last summer’s Peaceful Protests. Here’s a good review of historical riots and how the modern portrayal is clearly political rather than accurate.

@xerty are you upset about the media dismissing August “reinstatement” with “he will not” as an unfounded conspiracy hallucination?

The people with the rainbow flags. Why?

" George P. Bush is also the nephew of former President George W. Bush, who Trump has repeatedly ripped over the years. Trump mocked Bush’s mother, retweeting a message in 2015 that said Jeb Bush “has to like the Mexican Illegals because of his wife.” Trump even complained about his grandmother, saying former first lady Barbara Bush was “nasty to me.”

White privilege in education

According to Students for Fair Admissions’ analysis, a black applicant to Harvard in the 40th academic percentile of all applicants has a higher chance of admission than an Asian-American in the 90th academic percentile. Asians in the 90th academic percentile are unfavored compared with Hispanics in the 60th percentile and whites in the 80th percentile as well.

On the medical side, you remember the joke about what they call the person who graduates last in their med school class? “Doctor”

This phenomenon extends to medical schools and other graduate schools. A 2017 American Enterprise Institute study revealed that a black American with a 3.2–3.39 GPA and a 24–26 MCAT (under an older MCAT scoring system, since replaced) had a ten times higher chance of admission than an Asian-American with the same scores, and a higher chance than even an Asian-American with a 3.6–3.79 GPA and a 30–32 MCAT.

If you’re getting a young doctor, ie one who was admitted after these diversify initiatives began, you know who to pick if you want the statistical top of the class.

Accused Capitol rioter who yelled at police for ‘protecting pedophiles’ served jail time for statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl, report says

"A man accused of storming the Capitol and yelling at police officers for “protecting pedophiles” previously served jail time for the statutory rape of a teenage girl, according to a review of court records by CNN.

Footage obtained by the Metropolitan Police Department reveals that Sean McHugh used a megaphone at the Capitol riot to heckle police officers. “You guys like protecting pedophiles?” he said, according to federal prosecutors.

Yet, ironically, McHugh was convicted in 2010 on a California state charge of unlawful sex with a minor, CNN reported.

He was sentenced to 240 days in jail and four years of probation for the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl when he was 23, former prosecutor Todd Kuhnen told the media outlet. McHugh pleaded no contest to the charge, Kuhnen said."

“At the time of the deadly insurrection, he was on probation for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, the criminal complaint shows.”

Who’s done more to help Abuela? Alexandria Ocasio Cortez or conservative Matt Walsh fans?

In typical leftist fashion, actual help for the disadvantaged person is not their goal - talking about it and feeling virtuous about themselves is. Someone in AOC’s family killed the donation project so her poor grandma won’t get the money offered.

UPDATE: “Someone” in AOC’s abuela’s family told GoFundMe that she won’t take our money, even though AOC previously claimed that her grandma was in dire straits (and it was Trump’s fault). AOC still hasn’t acknowledged this effort or thanked us. Instead, she seems to think that it is worth $104,153 of her abuela’s money to express that doesn’t want money from the likes of us. Abuela could have accepted the money and donated it to charity, but it seems AOC preferred to insult the 5.800 people who donated.

GoFundMe is issuing a refund and assures us that 100% of every donation will be refunded within 3-7 business days. The email from GoFundMe is copied below.

Tragically this charitable effort has been sabotaged by forces outside of our control. Still I’m grateful for the outpouring of support for Abuela, even if AOC isn’t. But questions remain: Why didn’t AOC help her own abuela? Why was our help turned down? We are left to speculate.

Democrat Manchin Will Vote Against HR1 Election Deform Bill

He wrote an editorial in a West Virginia newspaper. He also says he will not vote to end the filibuster. I wish I could believe him but let’s see what happens after Schumer and the rest of the left have him in their sights for a few months. It is telling that self styled moderates like Conor Lamb and Tim Ryan voted for this monstrosity.

Edit: changed the newspaper headline so it more accurately describes the bill

Today in history:

On June 6, 1944 the soldiers of the free world stormed the beaches of Normandy to start the end of the monsterous Nazi Germany. And don’t give me this crap that the Russian communists defeated the Nazis. The free World supplied the communists and our air forces, at a tremendous cost in men and treasure, gutted the Nazi war machine at their home base before 1944.

On June 4, 1989 the Chinese communists massacred the pro democracy demonstrators in Tiananmen Square. Today companies like Apple and Microsoft and the NBA and the Hollywood left and the American left in general speak sympathetically of the Chinese communist government.

Edit: fixed the date of the Tiananmen massacre

So true!

Do any of the Liberals that post on this site agree that Trans Women should be able to compete in Women’s Sports?

Actually I guess that question could go to everyone.

Satire roundup (last 1-2 posts are new each week with a collection of recent cartoons).

The Burning Platform

There was another good one I saw somewhere along the lines of

Hacking a pipeline? that’s crazy.
Hacking a meat plant? How did they hit 20% of US production just like that?
Hacking an election? Totally impossible, no possible way, why bother investigating.

Sports have nothing to do with the government and there’s no place for state legislatures in the matter except in the crazy nanny state government you seem to be demanding.

It’s a complete non issue.

Unlike the pandemic.

Guess which of the two qop governors have deemed warranting special sessions of Congress?

Like it or not, the government provides the vast majority of education in our country. And like it or not, our society has determined that athletics is a vital component of that education. So while you may feel like sports have nothing to do with the government, that isn’t actually the case in the real world.

Regardless of those facts, the question posed was not, “how do you feel about state governments passing laws prohibiting biological males from competing in female sports by claiming a gender identity opposite their biology?” The question posed was, “Do any of the Liberals that post on this site agree that Trans Women should be able to compete in Women’s Sports?”

When you claimed (falsely) that sports have nothing to do with the government, you sidestepped the actual question.

How do you feel about biological males that claim a gender identity opposite their biology competing with and against biological females in female sports?

Answer that first and then we can talk about why it may or may not be a legitimate exercise of state government to regulate trans participation in sports.

That is not correct. Most high school and college sports are organized and run by schools with government funding. The NCAA is an organization of colleges almost all of which are funded by state governments. They take a coercive stand trying to force colleges to allow men who claim be women to compete in women’s sports.

Microsoft is once again coming under fire for a botched approach to China web searches. Both Motherboard and The Guardian report that Bing inadvertently blocked searches for “tank man,” the Tiananmen Square protester, in countries like the US, France and Singapore. The block was due to an “accidental human error” that Microsoft was trying to fix, according to a spokesperson.

Sites that license results from Microsoft, such as DuckDuckGo, also suffered as a result.

A block on keywords like “tank man” was expected in China. Microsoft can run Bing in China as it has an agreement to filter out searches for subjects the Chinese government doesn’t like, such as the Tiananmen Square massacre (whose anniversary passed on June 4th) or the Dalai Lama. Rivals like Google refuse to operate in China due to censorship concerns.
