The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

"“I get my role as a former national chairman. I get it, but I’m an American. I get my role as a former party leader. I’m still an American,” Steele told Wallace, adding, “And these things matter to me more than aligning myself with a party that has clearly decided it would rather be sycophantic than principled.” "

No President would be able to united a country where people are so hellbent on berating anyone who disagrees with them…

Yes, when my principles differ from yours, I’m clearly just unprincipled.

Anti vaxxers, QAnon terrorists, and KKK racists don’t merely “disagree” with Americans.

Not all Trump sycophants are in those categories. And some, I assume, are good people. <— did I do that right?

Yes, those who express concerns about vaccines are all just heartless wanna-be child murderers, arent they…

And yet you remain hellbent on berating them all in one fell swoop for being the scourge of society.

Where did I make that claim? No, they’re just stupid. Or just ignorant. And anti-vaxxers don’t merely “express concerns”…

I didn’t say or imply all anti-vaxxers have malicious intent.

The other anti-science contingents similarly don’t necessarily have malicious intent. Unfortunately, malicious intent is not necessary for causing harm.

You just cant help it, can you?

The current “Republican” defectors bring me back to Congressman, and long time Republican leader, Robert Michael. I’m confident, were he still alive, he would be one of them.

Such “Republicans” as these are contented losers. Most recently we had McCain in 2008 and (ugh!) Romney in 2012. Democrats love these folks, who allow a continuing and ongoing march of America to the left and into darkness.

Trump is detested because he fights the leftward push and wants, instead, to make America great once again. And he understands greatness does not lie in that direction; quite the opposite. Greatness is nurtured by old-fashioned freedom, liberty, and justice for all.

Trump will defeat Biden in November. He must, else our country will be following a well worn trail blazed by Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and their brethren. It is the path to failure, destruction, and ultimately to oblivion.

We have many, but Especially One crazy old women heading the Congress. Crazy Nancy never mentioned the Post Office when Obama & Biden were in power. Now that she thinks mail in ballots can help put Biden in a winning position.

All the loony leftie politicians think a senile old “nice guy” Mr. Biden is all they need. Just get him to win this election & they can take over. Turn our Great America into another 3rd world communist country.

Biden helpers just need to keep him in the basement quiet for a few more weeks. No real reason he couldn’t hop a plane & speak every so often. No, they can’t let him out for fear of what he might do or say to damage a chance of winning.

Unbelievable actions that are going on in that dark, damp democratic inter office.

Enough of this BS. Biden is a moderate. So is Harris. Moderate Republicans with a conscience are endorsing the Democratic ticket.

And those who line up behind Trump are not Republicans – on the political spectrum they (you) are all conservative extremists. They are former Republicans (i.e., RINOs) more appropriately called Trumplicans (until they adopt a new name, anyway). They are setting the country on the path to failure and destruction by being and acting as extremists.

I agree with this - Trump and Republicans are not the same group. If they’re working together, it’s based on the premise that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

And I’ll agree that Biden is the candidate because he’s all they have that can win, not because he’s a puppet. Much like some Republicans are settling for Biden, the extreme left is settling for Biden. They know their “more preferred” extreme liberal type candidate will push as many Democrats to the Republican ticket, as Trump is pushing Republicans to the Democratic ticket. There’s a whole lot of people stuck in the middle, which would become abundantly clear if both sides would just stop painting everyone on the other side with the extremist brush.

I’m pretty sure that Democrats pick their preferred candidate during the presidential primary. You make it sound like someone else does it. If Bernie was the “more preferred” candidate, he would have been the nominee. Since Biden is the nominee, it follows that Biden was and is the most preferred candidate. And Biden was always in the lead in the national polls.

This to me suggests that the plurality of voting Democrats are not extreme liberals, they are moderate liberals. But a plurality of voters currently registered as (or voting for extreme) Republicans are extreme conservatives.

And I emphasize “currently registered as Republicans” because the extreme right attacks all anti-Trump Republicans as RINOs, while in reality they (the extremists) have taken over the party and shifted the rug from under the feet of moderate Republicans. The party has changed and needs a new name. The extremists are the RINOs.

There are all sorts of edge cases in elections that use primaries for things to go wrong, and there’s some mathematical proof that such elections will fail one of several entirely reasonable properties you want for elections. Not saying it happened here, but for example, if the Dem party votes are

2/3 mainstream, 1st pick Biden, 2nd pick Yang, dead last Bernie
1/3 die hard socialists, 1st pick Bernie, 2nd pick Yang, dead last Biden

You do a runoff and eliminate Yang since he gets no votes in a “1st choice only gets a vote” system, and then Biden wins the final round 2:1. But he’s hated by 1/3 the party when there was a 100% consensus “good enough” candidate who never had a chance. If you expand the number of candidates, you could construct examples where Biden wins the incremental runoffs while not being more than a modest plurality 1st place favorite (say 20% 1st choices, and lots of other candidates who get 10% each), while you have a majority 2nd rank favorite cut out.

“I know nothing. I see nothing.” – Sgt. Schultz

“Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is…so intent on getting mail trucks to stick to their departure schedules that he let them drive away empty. (As L.A.-area Democrat Rep. Jimmy Gomez put it, “You focused on getting trucks to leave on time, but you didn’t focus on getting mail to the people.”)”

"Under questioning by Democratic Rep. Brenda Lawrence of Michigan, a former letter carrier and post office supervisor, De Joy admitted he did not know about Chapter 39 of the U.S. Government Code, which holds that the USPS “shall be operated as a basic and fundamental service provided to the people by the Government of the United States, authorized by the Constitution, created by Act of Congress, and supported by the people.”

He confessed to Democratic Rep. Katie Porter of California that he doesn’t know how much postage is required for a postcard (35 cents), nor has any idea how many Americans “to the nearest million” voted by mail in the last election."

What kind of idiot is so focused on getting mail trucks to leave on time he sends them out empty?
As Postmaster General he doesn’t know the US Government Code about the USPS. He doesn’t know how much postage is required, he doesn’t know how many Americans vote by mail.

Who the hell appointed this guy?!?

"Secretary of State Mike Pompeo sent a cable to all U.S. diplomatic missions last month warning American diplomats that under federal law they should not take overt sides in the presidential campaign. On Tuesday, he plans to ignore his own warning by speaking to the Republican National Convention endorsing President Donald Trump for a second term.

Pompeo’s message to State Department employees reminding them of restrictions on political activity under the Hatch Act was not unusual. Similar, if not identical, cables have been sent by successive secretaries of state every presidential election year. None of his predecessors, however, has disregarded those instructions so obviously."

In addition," “It is unprecedented and highly unethical for a sitting secretary of state to address a political convention while on official foreign travel," said Halie Soifer, the head of the Jewish Democratic Council of America. “In addition to violating the Hatch Act, Secretary Pompeo’s plans to speak at the Republican National Convention from Jerusalem underscore the president’s ongoing effort to politicize the U.S.-Israel relationship.”"

https://www.yahoo.com/news/pompeo-shattering-precedent-sparking-fury-164217639.html

Pompeo’s July 24th cable:

To “ALL DIPLOMATIC AND CONSULAR”

“The department works to advance the national interest abroad on behalf of all Americans in a non-partisan fashion,"

"It is important to remember that in order to avoid any confusion or misperception in this regard, the department’s longstanding policy is that U.S. citizen employees and family members may not engage in partisan political activity while posted or on TDY abroad, even on personal time."

“Similarly, presidential and political appointees and career (senior executives) are subject to significant restrictions on their political activity; they may not engage in any partisan political activity in concert with a partisan campaign, political party, or partisan political group, even on personal time and outside of the federal workplace,”

I’m unable to stop laughing.

But I’m grateful for your post regardless. You see, when SoCal types like you are not wildly at odds with me, I know I’m on the wrong path.

The best course, the only traditional American course, is one 180 degrees away from and directly opposite to your own. I need to know what you and your socialist fellow travellers think should be done, and then do the opposite. Feel free to rely on my adherence to that approach.

Blah blah blah. Not sticking to schedules is why the Post Office has become so reliant on expensive overtime. Instead of blaming that, perhaps you should look at the employees not getting their jobs done on time so that the mail can make those dispatches.

I’ve seen this waste first hand for years. I see, from package tracking, that my package left the regional center late. Instead of it getting to the local post office and sitting until the following morning, some random person makes a special trip to drop it off. Postage rates simply do not factor in that cost, they’re based on being delivered as part of a regular route.

Just last week, one day nothing was delivered that was in my Informed Delivery email, because a truck was late. It was all delivered the following day, which is exactly how it should work. Had I not received that email in the morning, I never would’ve known anything had been delayed. But I guess I’m supposed to be outraged?

Perhaps service levels have fallen off some in some areas. But that’s being measured from a level that was artificially inflated to begin with. Of course service can be great when being delivered with an at-any-cost attitude. It also creates a lot of unnecessary waste and unrealistic expectations. There is zero basis for claiming the Post Office is required to do everything it possibly can to get a given piece of mail delivered as quickly as possible.

I am fully convinced this whole Post Office problem is mostly union-driven. Employees are losing their easy overtime, and expected to be productive during their 40 hours each week instead of dragging it out over 50 or 60 hours.
