The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

So it’s outrageously wrong to send troops to protect federal property from violent rioters. But he’s suppose to have troops occupy Targets across the country in the off chance someone decides to cause a scene.

Got it.

Well that’s just flat out wrong. What the hell are the panic buttons for?

And wait a minute…now it’s Trump trying to defund the police? And not the rioters screaming “Defund the police!”?

Actions, not empty Trump words.

If the RNC was a closed event, then maybe I’d agree that it’s not activity directed at the success or failure of a candidate for partisan office, because it’s basically procedural. But since it is broadcast and advertised and can be viewed by the whole nation, and really more of a rally than anything else, I can’t agree with that statement. It’s definitely a political activity as defined. The permitted activities such as the one you quoted does not override the prohibited activities. So maybe he can go to a rally as long as that rally is not directed at the success or failure of a candidate for partisan office.

I did wonder whether being “on duty” is the key point of argument. I thought that perhaps Secretary of State is always on duty. Much like the President. They’re on duty even when they’re sleeping.

I disagree. They may be “on call” all the time, having to be available at a moment’s notice. But they arent on duty, or they’d all be fired for sleeping on the job  .

But it is part of the argument being made. Not that he’s always on duty, but that he filmed the speech during an official overseas trip. If he made that trip just to film the speech, then I’d agree with the complaints. But if he just took advantage of his location during his “off” time, not so much.

This is about him breaking from customs and traditions, then others trying to figure out a way to justify their criticisms of it being wrong. They want to accuse him of a crime, but are still trying to figure out what accusation might hold some water.

I’m sure he’s paying a proportion of his foreign travel (and any required attendants traveling with him) for this portion of time he used for what you say is his personal time. No government employees filmed or otherwise used taxpayer dollars for the production either.

Surprised they pulled her speech

Just taking after tweeter-in-chief.
““Do yourself a favor and read this thread,” Mary Ann Mendoza wrote on Twitter, linking to a string of tweets about a bogus 100-year-old Jewish plot to run the world that managed to add some QAnon conspiracies and touched on everything from the Titanic to Hillary Clinton.”

“”“President Donald Trump is the first political leader we’ve ever seen take on the radical Left to finally secure our border and to end illegal immigration since day one. I’ve met him many times and I know what’s in his heart,” she was set to say."

Lol. Yes, we all know what’s “in his heart.”

"“You tell ‘em too much, “Jack says. “They don’t give a damn about that. Hell, make ‘em cry or make ‘em laugh…Or make ‘em mad. Just stir ‘em up, it doesn’t matter how or why, and they’ll love you and come back for more…Tell ‘em anything, but for Sweet Jesus sake don’t try to improve their minds.”

That’s what Willie Stark did. It is what Donald Trump did so successfully in 2016, and it appears it is what he’s going to try to do in 2020. The campaign vows that Trump will have more to say about his policy agenda in his Thursday night acceptance speech and in a series of speeches during the campaign. I hope that’s true. But I’m not counting on it. Like Willie Stark, Trump’s political future may rest more on his ability to “just stir ‘em up” than with a carefully reasoned and articulated tax policy agenda."

You are right and I thank you for the example. But if the wikipedia article on the subject and its source is to be trusted, this scenario was not even close – Biden won 51.48% of the popular vote in the Democratic primary, almost 2x more than Bernie’s 26.62%.

Bernie+Warren combined was 34.39%, so about a third are either closer to the socialist scale or they just like what Bernie and Warren are offering without branding themselves “socialists.” I bet that almost all of them are of the Democratic Socialist variety, not straight up communists/marxists, as some troublemakers continue to insist (you know who you are).

Anyway, my point was that the majority voted for Biden, therefore Biden was the preferred candidate. To suggest otherwise without any proof is just wild speculation. It is yet another good reason why we need ranked voting. We would have probably known more whom the electorate preferred if they could rank the candidates. (So if Biden won but Bernie was everyone’s second favorite, we’d know that Democrats were all socialist democrats and voted for Biden because the more preferred candidate was too dangerous as glitch99 implied).

And I’m no longer able to take you seriously. There’s some really good, intellectual discussion to be had on the subjects and most others on here are doing that. But what you do in many of your posts is spread hatred and fearmongering. It’s ridiculous and unnecessary, and it most definitely will not change anybody’s mind. I think most readers here will agree with me on this (you see, I’ve been looking at how many :heart:s you get on your posts, and most of the ones filled with such BS have zero or one).

Perhaps you needed an outlet for your anger and somehow ended up using what is primarily a finance forum for that purpose. Your BS writings are not well constructed arguments so there’s zero chance they’ll change any minds. Since I can’t tell in advance, I’m considering skipping over your posts in this thread, because arguing about stupid things is a waste of my time. Perhaps you could preface your well thought out arguments with “bits of infinite wisdom” so I could read them, and your hateful vitriol with “snippets of nationalist propaganda” so I could skip them. Much appreciated.

Fair and balanced, the @bender way.

See above.

Never, ever, ever thought I would be able to quote the above from you. Yeehaw!

Wow! You see the unemployed and think “welfare recipient”. I would be ashamed to think along those lines. Are starting to imitate Joseph Biden, and occasionally say what you really think?

shinobi, one poster above Honkinggoose has finally made us all happy. He is considering skipping over your posts now. Makes me feel better now because I’m not the only person he has ill will towards.
WHO CARES!!

Thank goodness we all still have free speech in America. I really enjoy Fragile Deal because in many instances we can learn something new from each poster.

It’s wonderful to notice how the various posters (writers) here come from all parts of this great country. We have so many different ideas to exchange. We disagree a lot, and that’s ok.

So, to bad, 1 person on this site thinks his opinions are always correct. NO give & take… :relaxed:

You could apply at FOX to be one of the “reporters” that sources news from TheOnion.

Edit: should-> could. I’m a strong proponent of Freedom.

Not a fan of the source outlet, but they got their article title right.

“Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, a registered lobbyist for a foreign government that Donald Trump’s Justice Department has implicated in a corruption scandal, used her speech at the Republican convention on Tuesday to criticize former Vice President Joe Biden for alleged self-dealing abroad.”

I knew it!!!. Dems are featuring Harris to do the talking ahead of Trump on Thursday.

To many worries about letting Biden out of the basement. Dems got to much at stake to take a chance on a blunder.

The man running for the Presidency is going to be stashed away “tell the cows come home”.

I have no ill will towards anyone and I don’t think I’m right all the time. I think I’ve made it clear as I provided plenty of helpful advice for shinobi in other threads. And I’ve acknowledged when I was clearly wrong. We are all here to learn, but we can’t learn from unreasonable or unsubstantiated messages. I just don’t want to read the posts where instead of sharing ideas or learning something new, many of shinobi’s posts contain hate, fearmongering, and unreasonable exaggerations. You (patty) and I just can’t understand each other, which is a different issue.

Trump called today for he and Biden to be drug tested before their debates, In the interest of full disclosure, they should release their tax returns and financial business records as well. Trump should release all the info on his lawsuits and release all the women he’s paid off from non-disclosure agreements.

Players voting on whether they want to play or not before each game. What has this world been reduced to?

And over a guy who pushes his way past officers with their weapons pointed at him ordering him to stop, who then chase after him, attempt to detain him, then finally shoot him only when he’s successfully resisting and trying to drive off with a knife and a car load of kids. And no, that’s not my interpretation of what’s been reported, that’s the actual play-by-play of the video.
