Yeah, that’s why Trump prefers a broken USPS.
A delay of one day, that still falls within expected delivery times, is not “broken”. Other more drastic problems are isolated problems that have been occuring since the beginning of the Post Office.
All this is just laying the groundwork for if Trump wins, they can cry about all the mail in ballots that were requested but didn’t make it back because he “broke” the Post Office.
Y’all constantly speculate that Trump won’t leave the White House even if he loses. I suspect there’s a pretty large contingent that will attempt to prevent him from staying even after he wins.
Yeah
Impeachment II
It’s virtually a sure thing if Democrats retain control of the House.
Last time their foolishness came at a time Trump’s full and undivided attention needed to be focused on an incipient pandemic. Wonder what harm it will be next time that their unvarnished perfidy does to my country.
For a while now, I think the true majority’s opinion has been not partisan, but “How the hell did we end up with these two?”
It’s mostly the media (both news and social varieties) that try to make it appear to be “The Reps plus the majority against the Dems” or “The Dems plus the majority against the Reps”.
“President Donald Trump’s campaign played a song about rich people dodging the Vietnam War draft — which Trump did five times — as the president got off his plane for a rally in Michigan on Thursday.”
Trump continuing to LOL at those losers who served and died.
You’re right. That song is so blatantly offensive and clearly should be banned.
Or, its just music…
Who said anything about banning? It was perfectly selected by/ for Trump.
Biden or Trump… Neither served in Vietnam, were both draft dodgers? Probably.
I have always liked Creedence Clearwater Revivals. Music is great, “Fortunate Son”. so, so.
Looking back, if you had a son of war age, what would you do? Move to Canada, maybe. ![]()
I mostly agree with you, except that any delay, even of just one day for mail-in ballots that must be received by a certain date could be a big enough problem to change the election results.
Two Trump court victories:
The SCOTUS has ruled in favor of President Donald Trump in the Texas “everybody may vote by mail” case.
In Pennsylvania a lower court Judge has ruled in favor of ballot access for the Green Party’s POTUS candidate. Democrats are opposed to this for obvious reasons. They are appealing the lower court decision to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Problem is time is short, and until this matter is decided mail-in ballots cannot be sent out to Pennsylvania voters. Pennsylvania is a hotly contested battleground state.
But who’s fault is that? The Post Office for still delivering within the stated time frame? Or the voters who wait until the last minute to mail their ballot, crossing their fingers that it gets there in time?
At some point people need to start accepting blame for their own “disenfranchisement”, not deflecting the blame with convenient, but baseless, excuses.
No, not even that. They’ll attempt to overturn the election results altogether. Cant impeach someone you’re claiming was never elected to begin with.
Wherever they came up short in the tally, they’ll cry shenanigans, while citing the “unexpectedly low” response rate as “evidence” that Trump’s post office must’ve deliberately diverted ballots so they wouldnt be counted.
The argument has been set up perfectly, with all the narratives and talking points that have been force-fed to the public the past couple months.
The post office declared it couldn’t deliver in the required and expected timeframe. (Then dejoy said it could and would easily be able to handle ballots, as they’re relatively low volume and obviously high priority when before congress…).
At some point people need to start accepting responsibility for their own deliberate actions that are on the record.
No, tapes of interviews with Trump are not just fabricated text in an unreleased book. They’re his own words.
Tweets by Trump are public record and it’s insane the AG says to Congress he specifically would be required to investigate based on their actual content, but he simply doesn’t read them so there’s no responsibility to investigate the illegal actions.
Circuit Court of Appeals, not SCOTUS.
That seemed likely to me. Statistics seem to indicate that in general Dems are more concerned about COVID-19 than GOP so it makes sense that they would favor more absentee ballots to avoid having to go to the polls in person. Plus Trump warning of mail voting fraud may have had an impact as well.
Total numbers will be off the charts this year for sure, especially early voting trends with people worrying about ballots getting lost in the mail.
I think States should modify their absentee ballot voting deadlines. tell voters basically if you don’t send your ballot back at least a week before election day, there’s a risk so act accordingly.
But voters need to do their parts too. If you’re concerned enough about COVID that you don’t want to show up at the polls on election day, you have plenty of time to do this without risking your ballot not getting counted. Assuming you were still on the fence, the last debate is 10/22 which gives you two weeks before election day. Just don’t procrastinate and stop blaming others only if your ballot does not get counted (did not mean you specifically just to be clear but other procrastinators).
Down here, we received the state-wide absentee ballot requests (sent to all registered voters) right before Labor Day. Turn around to get your ballots is quick and you can even follow the status of your request/ballot mailing/receipt online. You can do the whole thing within 2 weeks. Really no excuse at this point to not have sent it back on time IMO.
I’d be stunned if this election is not decided by the SCOTUS some time in December. Whoever appears to win - almost regardless of margin - will first have to wait until all absentee ballots are counted. The volume of them will probably make election night/week too close to call in all purple States. Then the alleged winner will almost without fail face legal challenges from the other party considering the circumstances. Blame the post office for losing bags of votes, various disenfranchising techniques, foreign interference, rampant voter fraud, you name it, the excuses are all already planned.
Not only will courts get involved but I think State legislatures might as well. Just change the rules on how electors are nominated if your candidate loses.
Either way, about one half of the country will feel that they got cheated out of the election. Pathetic but virtually guaranteed.
Except that article says no such thing.
The post office is merely “asking elected officials and voters to realistically consider how the mail works, and be mindful of our delivery standards, in order to provide voters ample time to cast ballots through the mail,” wrote DeJoy,
The Post Office released copies of the warning letters it sent to all 50 states and the District Columbia on its website. While some states were given a less stringent warning, the majority were told the situation could be more dire.
The laws, the letter said, create a “risk that ballots requested near the deadline under state law will not be returned by mail in time to be counted.”
It’s all in reference to the sometimes asinine state deadlines, such as the ability to request a mail-in ballot, to be delivered then returned via mail, a mere 4 days before the deadline for it to be counted. Yes, I’m sure it’ll be entirely the Post Office’s fault for those ballots not being delivered in time ![]()
