The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

I guess for supporters of the opposing candidates, trying to ensure not many go to the event could be beneficial. But it could easily be defeated by simply telling supporters who did not get tickets that it’ll be first come first serve at the gates if there are empty seats 30 min before the event.

But that’d be a waste to simply trash the tickets. Isn’t that the American spirit? Taking advantage of any market opportunity especially one where there is high demand and low supply. Of course, that could also be limited by the above counter but it would not negate supply/demand dynamics. If you wanted a sure way to get in, you’d have to pay the scalpers.

Even if they’re not effective media grabs, 45 would do them anyway. He gets energized preaching to a friendly audience without the scrutiny of press. They are as much for his ego and mental state as they are to win over voters.

Who wouldn’t !!

Mr Trump our POTUS won last time & I think he will do it again… :relaxed:
(in spite of all the doom & gloom writers)

Nice to see mainstream news called out for their hypocracy/double standards…

Both tweets seem consistent with that we already know, no? That health experts are simply worried about white lives but don’t care to object to a black trans protest because …err well. Anyway, is that not a double standard we’ve known for decades?

Most of the protests have widespread face covering usage and they are outside (outside ~1/20th the transmission rate given other assumptions equal). They even have fairly good distancing in addition to heading face covering health directives. This is not equivalent to an indoor yelling crowd with no masks and no social distancing.

I wonder how many death threats Neil Gorsuch’s family is receiving today from MAGA-hat wearing bigots?

Trump’s Tulsa venue has a capacity of only 20,000 people. At last report he was staring at 800,000 requests for tickets. So I think it’s likely there will be quite a few attendees forced to watch the big screens outside the hall.

Trump supporters have had about all they can take of the current anti-American screed pulsating through the mainstream media. As was the case back in 2016, they are bursting at the seams to show some PRO-American sentiment. A great many Americans still love their country, just the way it is and with Trump at the helm!

And they vote.

There is another discussion that is beginning to pulsate.

I heard talk today, about “what’s going to happen when player’s go down on a knee during the National Anthem” before Sports Games.

My idea…

  1. Either have the player’s who wish to “take a knee”, stay out of sight until the Anthem is concluded.
  2. Don’t play the Anthem before games & just let player’s “take a knee” before game. The crowd can just watch.

That’s how most Trump rallies are.

" For example, Trump claimed 50,000 people were outside a rally in Houston because they couldn’t get in, but the city’s police chief said the number was much lower: 3,000. In Cleveland, Trump claimed “thousands” of people were outside because the venue was packed. But Twitter users at the event posted evidence that Trump didn’t fill the venue and that only a handful of people were milling around in the parking lot.

In Tampa, Trump claimed thousands of people who couldn’t get in were watching outside on a “tremendous movie screen” — that didn’t exist. "

Shinobi – I’m curious about your thoughts on a few things. If you would take the time to answer individually, I’d appreciate it.

Do you think President Trump is a person of above average knowledge of the Constitution?

Do you think President Trump really wants to reduce / eliminate discrimination towards people of color?

Do you think PT has, in the past, treated women more as objects than as equals?

Do you think PT has studied foreign relations and understands the intricacies of complex issues going on in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia? (Kurds, Iran / Saudi Arabia issues, previous balances of power, Russian / Soviet needs & desires in the area, Iran / Syria issues, Turkey / Kurds issues as a few examples)

Do you think his actions on COVID-19 related issues have been prudent from a public health standpoint ?

How do you explain PT’s apparent 180 on interest rates – adamantly against low rates before becoming president, 100% for zero / negative rates prior to the COVID-19 outbreak & after becoming president?

With overwhelming evidence that Russia interfered with the 2016 election (or maybe influenced voters), how do you explain PT’s continuing rhetoric that Russia didn’t interfere? (Note, I’m not asking about colluding with Russia – just Russian interference in swaying votes (influence / interference)

I promise to read and consider your responses. Thanks in advance!

It wasn’t the protesters who toppled it. Sounds like vandalism. But I suppose I stand corrected, as I did say “nobody”. Somebody does indeed.

It’s not mandated. In fact, he didn’t have it for a time. Then he insisted on having it again. Maybe check these things before basing an argument on false statements.

The law requires it be provided. Each individual (besides the actual President and VP) can then choose to opt out, but the government doesn’t have a choice about providing it.

You called them corrupt for receiving exactly what the law specifies. That’s asinine. Clinton and Bush were more “corrupt” by requesting extensions for their kids after their protection details were supposed to end. By opting out for a while, the Trumps received less that they were entitled to, which is the opposite of corruption.

You’re the only one spreading nonsense, both with your initial comment and with this response.

That could look very weird/awkward if you end up with very few players. Think basketball where there could be like no players in the arena during the anthem. And then having them walk back in as if nothing happened.

I don’t know if that would not anger more people than seeing a few players take a knee. Either way, it’ll be a bit of a moot point if there’s no crowd in attendance.

Why not simply let them protest peacefully by taking a knee. It doesn’t change your own beliefs, your own enjoyment of the anthem, does it? Plus, not everyone cares the same for the anthem anyway. There are foreign players at games (especially baseball or hockey) who have different home nations, different values and for whom the flag and the anthem mean much less. Personally, it doesn’t shock me as long as they protest in a respectful and peaceful way. In the end, you cannot force respect. It has to be earned. Would it be better to have them protest the anthem out of sight or alter traditions to not play the anthem before games, only for the players to protest by taking a knee or mouthing " I can’t breathe" at every touchdown instead of celebrating?

You said it was mandatory. It is not.

“Because! That BOY is disrespecting muh freedumb! And he’d be in a field pickin’ cotton if I din’t watch the football game. Tha BOY’s got no respect. He’s only here to ENTERTAIN ME. Trump 2020! Fire tha disrespectin’ boy… BACK TO THE PLANTATION!!” - Typical Trump rally attendee

It’s not mandatory that they accept the protection, but it is mandatory it be provided/offered/available. For them receiving the protection to be “corrupt”, it would require that strings were pulled to get them protection they shouldnt be receiving.

But go ahead and keep insisting, based solely on the fact that you said so. 'Cause it’s Trump, so it obviously must be corruption, regardless of any pesky facts. If you say it enough times, it must be true. (Funny how the criticisms of Trump seem to apply just as much to those doing the criticizing…)

You see, this is an issue where I’m pretty sure I agree with you. Then you post something like this, and it makes me want to reconsider the opposing argument.
