" Last week a sitting U.S. congressman delivered a keynote speech at a white nationalist conference in Florida.
“Wow, what a group,” Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) said as he took his place behind a podium emblazoned with the letters “AFPAC” — an acronym for America First Political Action Conference, the second annual gathering of the white nationalist “groyper” movement.
" The next day, Fuentes and Gosar sat down for coffee, according to a photo Fuentes posted to Twitter.
“Great meeting today with Congressman Gosar,” tweeted Fuentes, a 22-year-old Holocaust denier who once compared Jews killed in Nazi gas chambers to cookies baking in an oven. “America is truly uncancelled.”"
While that was in reply to you, it was not directed to you. I’m allowed to refer to third parties when speaking. There has been a whole bunch of defending those adjacent. I’ve even called that out explicitly more than once, but since it continues to be embraced…
Then I suggest you make your insinuations replying directly to your intended targets, and not by replying to my posts. Your insinuation is offensive to me.
Oh, I’ve directly called them out. Also you misread what I initially wrote if you think “of some here” means you. I would have referred to you, not wording meaning a third party. If you remember from not too long ago in this thread, I specifically requested mods not remove a post that was an attack on me. If I wanted to directly say something to insult you, I would.
I refer you to the “dignity of work” (see below), the Republican idea that everyone needs to work, and their attempts to add work requirements to Medicaid, SNAP etc. It’s a Republican idea (with deep Puritan roots) that people have a need to work, that work is necessary for self actualization. Without work, on this view, you lack dignity. It’s an idea promoted by people such as Senator Rubio, that work ‘sets you free’, that work is a necessary part of being human.
Most folks want a job… Start at the teenage years, young people can’t wait to get that first paying job. Paper boy, washing cars, the lemonade stand, etc.
My husband tells the story of early years. He took the push lawnmower around, knocked on doors & asked “I’ll mow your lawn for 10 cents”. If they took him up on it, they would give him a quarter or 50 cents when he was finished… I’m talking about miming their parents. Self actualization! It’s self dignity that counts.
Now what about those children that do not have a good role model? It’s a pity! There are those stories of “I pulled myself up by my boot straps”. Too many tales we’ve all heard about.
Ethical standards at the NYT? A bit worse than I expected, and my expectations were low.
“the current Opinion editors were unaware of this arrangement and have concluded that holding a paid position at Weave presents a conflict of interest for David in writing about the work of the project, its donors or the broader issues it focuses on," Murphy said.
Taking a full salary from a nonprofit without disclosing that, meanwhile frequently shilling for the big corporate donors to that nonprofit, both in his role as “journalist” and personally appearing in promotional activities for the same corporate donors. Also, lying about his disclosures when someone noticed.
What? You are in favor of ethical behavior? For the last four years you have crusaded against any ethical behavior, at least by Trump and his acolytes.
But…did you notice that the Times didn’t know about this and is now disclosing it? Why are you criticizing them for adhering to ethical standards?
As opposed to say, you, who support Nazis and racists?
“If you have the best ideas, you have nothing to hide. “
Says the guy who hasn’t taken questions in a press conference in the last two months. But hey, banning states from requiring an ID, letting felons vote, and all sorts of other permissive election non-integrity reforms sounds like par for the course these days.
I wonder how they’ll try to sleaze it through the senate tho.
Democrats believe: Never let a crisis go to waste.
As a corollary to the above:
Democrats believe if you lack a needed crisis, create one!
And that is precisely what Biden is doing on the southern border. Things were good under Trump and improving. The wall was working. The number of illegals was down. But this was not at all the situation Biden wanted. So he went straight back to the failed policies of the Obama/Biden years.
And, sure enough, we have a crisis emerging of sizable proportion, just exactly as hoped for.
But why?
Biden hopes to use his self-created crisis to pressure Democrats and Chamber of Commerce Republicans for immigration reform.
And you know, the strategy just might work. So if you want literally millions of illegal peasants invading our country, congratulations on your vote for Biden. You got exactly the outcome for which you voted, you jackass.
Biden just might get caught on this one. I believe most Americans will not let this crisis continue, at least those Republican Gov along the southern border.
Illegal immigrants flooding the gates, housing them in cages. Oh yes the cages of Obama/Biden long ago era. Democrats said it was so terrible when Trump had to place these people in the same situation. The difference was that Trump eventually got the Illegal Immigration under control.
The dementia effected President is not alone in the era of “get rid of anything left of Trump”. He has a host of TV/Media & Democrats praising his every move.
I don’t know whether a host of liberal readers/posters here ever listen or watch FOX, OAN etc. If so you might get to see Biden in all his glorious moments lately. It is a pity to watch his stumbling, mumbling attempt at talking to an audience. In fact it’s so bad that the TV has to cut him off air at times. Such a terrible sight for the world to watch our POTUS. (I’m sure they are watching & smiling)
Americans only recently voted for Biden over Trump by a seven million vote margin. And Trump got creamed as well in the Electoral College.
Americans, too many of us anyway, are shallow thinkers. Trump lost because of his wildly abrasive and offensive personality. People did not vote for Biden, they voted against Trump and specifically against his woeful personality.
But don’t you see, pattyb53, that is the problem. For millions of superficial thinkers, who were also voters, personality was far more important than policy.
So now America is suffocating beneath the hard left policies of a POTUS with a genteel personality who is only just getting started poking holes in our boat.
Biden will not be caught. The same voters who put him into office also gave him two years of free rein in the Congress. And even following near certain Republican victories there next year, Biden will still be in total control. This is because, while Republicans will surely gain seats, they will with equal certainty not have sufficient members in Congress to override Biden’s inevitable vetoes when they attempt to right the ship. This will leave Biden, and his far left policies, in place for at least the next four years.
