I’ve considered this. Unfortunately, I hate to admit that the IRS probably already has my phone number, because it is provided automatically on the 4506-T with a mortgage/refi application (try as I might to plead with the loan processors to remove it before submitting, their software adds it automatically with no way to remove). I’d hate for the IRS to deny the transcript request if they actually store and check that field.

Because they are the sole reason why filing taxes is not completely free (and even when it was supposed to be free based on income, they’d used tricks to get qualified taxpayers to pay anyway).
