An email to me offers $300 back on qualifying purchases totaling $3,000 by Dec. 31. The following non-qualifying are specifically noted: “The following types of purchases are not qualifying purchases for the promo offer: Balance transfers, cash advances, fees, finance charges, ATM transactions, inter-link processed transactions, purchases of and any fees paid towards gift cards, pre-paid cards, re-loadable cards, purchases of payment instruments that can readily be converted to cash (for example travelers’ cheques, money orders, wire transfers, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, off track betting, wagers) or impermissible purchases such as purchases made for business purposes.”
I wonder if property tax, car registration, or estimated income tax payments would qualify.
cannot understand why gift cards do not qualify. Cheap outfit. They still get the swipe fee, but I suppose a 507.95 gift card is only 1 swipe and they are cheap!!. And liquidation is only 1 swipe also. I will list what banks do not care about buying gift cards even though AMEX prohibits it in their T&C. They have been paying out the 5% and 6% on the OBC and the BCP for years. Just mix in 1 grocery item for .99 cents. Amex OBC/Amex BCP/ Citi Shop Your Way/Citi Custom Cash/ Discover Miles. No need to “pad” the charges with Citi and Disc. Citi pays 5% with the CCash cards like clockwork… 1 507.95 VGC per month and SYW also pays out the 3 or 4% and has those amazing offers.
