I know what you mean. I had that experience before… basically you submitted the transfer too early in the morning, and Marcus was able to complete a same day ACH transfer. Try submitting it AFTER the same day ACH cut off time has passed. I submitted mine today at 3.45pm and it appears to be ok. But I will not know for sure until tomorrow
A Google search says the same day ACH cutoff is 2.45pm ET. If the amount is more than $25k, it will also be next day ACH since for same day ACH, the amount has to be $25k or less.
I’m going for quadruple interest today. I called NFCU to transfer $1K from Alliant checking to a CD, so it’s earning CD interest from today. The money wasn’t actually in my Alliant checking account so I just transferred it from Alliant savings. It then goes to NFCU savings sometime next week where it may sit a few days until transferred to the CD.
Outstanding!!
I dont get it - the money is earning interest in the NFCU CD and in your Alliant checking account. How is that “quadruple”?
Can this 19m/2.25% promo be opened online or on the phone? Looking at the promo page, it merely says to visit a branch.
I opened online.
Maybe not quadruple because Alliant probably doesn’t pay double interest between its own savings and checking account.
Right now there’s double interest between Alliant checking and the CD, but I’ll be earning triple interest for a day or three because the money goes to an NFCU savings account and then double interest within NFCU from the savings and the CD.
Why would you need to go to savings first? I only have a savings account from Alliant and can make those transfers direct to my NFCU accounts.
They don’t allow me to deposit directly to a CD from an external account.
Via phone, they will transfer from an external account to NFCU savings, and then put it in the CD for you.
I could do Alliant savings (initiated at Alliant) to NFCU checking, then wait and put it in the CD myself, but I can do it all with one phone call and get double or triple interest for a few days.
Do you know how much will NFCU pull from another account via a telephone call? Is it different from the ACH pull limit from checking?
Transfer I did 2-14 shows in NFCU savings as of 2-18 and in the CD as of 2-14, but it hasn’t been withdrawn from my Alliant account yet.
CIBC has a $200 promo for new customers (defined as no account since 5/1/2018) for depositing $25,000 and holding it there for 120 days. They bump it up to $400 if you deposit $50,000 and hold it there for 120 days.
It’s not a bad deal considering their current rate of 1.85% is one of the highest for a savings account at the moment.
Transfer I did 2-14 shows withdrawn from Alliant 2-19. It was credited to NFCU savings 2-18 and the savings transfer shows 2-19, but deposit to CD shows 2-14.
Anyone using Elements Financial? Their Helium savings account has a 1 year promo rate of 2.10% – must keep $2500 balance – maximum $250,000. Although not a high as some CDs, it’s like an add-on CD with a 1 year guaranteed rate, except money is fluid down to $2500.
Just to note that the Helium Savings promo dropped to 1.90%
I got in at the higher rate and enjoy the High Interest Checking, which I find less onerous than other rewards accounts because I have plenty of credit cards to pay.
So far no issues with either account for me.
Grow Promo MM Account update
It is month’s end, or very nearly so. I’m just off the telephone with Grow. This information is based on conversation with just one solitary rep. She seemed to me competent, but we all know a single data point such as this cannot be relied upon absolutely. Nevertheless, I’m reporting what I have:
Was told interest rate on Grow Promo MM account as of today, right now, Friday late afternoon, is 2.75% APY. That is as anticipated.
Next inquired about this coming Monday, a new month.
Was told the 2.75% APY rate will hold on Monday and throughout March.
Our 2.75% APY rate on liquid funds for the last year has been a very sweet interest rate. It is even sweeter now with rates elsewhere falling as they are. Another month of this will not be difficult to take in the least.
April? No clue.
Wonderful news! Thanks shinobi, big relief (for another month).
I have Unify FCU 2.25% $5 minimum Liquid CD with unlimited add-on deposits 7/24/21. My go to replacement for Grow if their rate fell to far down.
Are you still able to do so? I find no way to apply online, and a secure message tells me this is only available in-branch.
Go to Deposits Accts, Kens site.
Find the original Unify Financial Credit Union, scroll down where it mentions apply online. That’s where I applied online.
