Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts

Ouch. That’s some serious cut there. Thanks for the HU.

My Patriot Bank is now showing 1.13%. Started 2.26%, 1.75%, 1.40%.
I believe these changes have happened in 1+ months.

Thanks - now I know what to expect when my rate guarantee expires in 9 days. Ugh!

has anyone heard/used the new 3% HM Bradley checking acct. Doc has a nice write up on it. Im investigating as I have a CIBC and Ally bank accts coming due in early Aug. Bonuses from both but new rates are terrible,. This could be a good deal buy checking it out as I would have to have my SS dd to it.

I signed up for the waiting list when it was announced but the premise seemed confusing. I guess DoC decided its not confusing anymore. I wonder how long the 3% teaser rate will last.

Yes the problem or teaser is that you need to deposit per quarter. So any deposits made after the quarter begins get no interest till next Q.This is my understanding. BUT…if you deposit in Sept for the Q. starting 10/1 you get the 3% as long as you leave 20% which is confusing. I dont expect to withdraw. I have some CD and bank bonuses due next month and will set up transfers for September. Plus i am taking a chance that my SS will get there. I redirected my SS DD to go to Hatch bank (their actual name) and will take 2 months for SS to change banks. . My DD from SS will arrive at Hatch on 9/20. So just in time for the 3%. By then who knows what will be. So Im taking a chance but not too to risky as all the other banks seem to be going under 1%. My current SS goes to WF at 0 interest. Was a bonus about 1 year ago and I am stuck with WF till Sept.

Today’s drops:

ConnectOne Bank OneConnection Savings was 1.10% now 1.00%
Discover AAII Online Savings was 1.06% now 1.01%
Discover Online Savings was 1.01% now 0.95%

If u ask if Dd req are met from ach deposits, pls post

I made that first $500 DD Northwest FCU. I used TIAA Bank & it shows up in acct C3UOATOVY $500.
Does that look like it qualifies as DD? I don’t know how, unless I call & ask. What do u think?

People who look beneath rocks oftentimes find snakes. I’ve no intent to call their attention to my deposits in particular. I injected my first five hundred with an ACH initiated at Alliant. Withdrew that money next day using PurePoint.

No Penalty CD rates:

Ally Bank 11 month: 0.90%

Marcus 7 month: 0.90%

PurePoint 11 month: 0.50%

Consider:

NPCD’s provide a rate lock for our liquid money. The above are the highest NPCD rates currently offered by the specified banking institutions.

It is possible to lock the interest rate on your liquid money for a greater interval of time with their longer NPCD offerings. HOWEVER:

In each instance those longer offerings pay even less interest than the NPCDs above shown.

My takeaway:

It appears to me the financial institutions are expecting interest rates on liquid money to fall going forward.

All that having been said, the Ally Bank 0.9% offering is looking quite good: decent lock length, higher interest rate, and should you need your money for whatever reason, after the first few days, you can access it without penalty. Not all bad.

Yesterday I spoke to an agent at Patriot Bank. She called me because I had tried to take funds from my MM acct. Actually I had open an account someplace else (for spouse) & tried to use money from my acct.

Patriot was so rude & refused to alloy me to use my money to fund an account other than my own. I told the agent to forget it because I would be taking out all my funds at Patriot Bank. Remember how fast they lowered the MM acct. 2.26%, 1.75%, 1.40% & finally 1.13%

Isn’t that something, refusing to allow me to use my own money..

since I am sidelined from MSing…dont want to go to WM or groceries just yet for MO and deposits to Gobank…(upstate NY/CT border.)I found what I think is a lucrative system to cash in…but you need patience. bank bonuses. I am lucky that wife and 2 sons let me do my thing with their personal info So 1)BBVA has the 200 checking bonus plus the 50.00 savings bonus for all…NOT the 400 bonus advertised. That one seems targeted. Just a small "DD’ . Docs has the list off what works. 2) WF 400.00 bonus if you can leave 4k for 4 months. 10% interest. 3) the PNC 300. bonus but w/5k deposit and today 4) TD bank 300 bonus for 2500 DD. With all you folks with CD and savings acct… this is more lucrative. I also did the Santander 225.00 bonus for my 2 sons with 1k DD. Hopefully all the DD work …but they have in the past and the datapoints in Doc and other sites they they will. I discount the old DP and concentrate on the ones from 1 year and newer. And I can do this in my PJ’s. And anyone doing the WF 400.00 deal… BOA codes as DD… Alliant did not so I moved funds back and forth. BOA has the 3.00 fee tho. DP from doc was not clear on the Alliant entries. But Alliant and WF works for BBVA

A lot of banks say you must be the owner of the bank account in order to set up an ACH link. I am not sure how they enforce it. How did Patriot Bank find out the account you were trying to link was an account owned by your spouse instead of you?

Yes, I have done the same with spouse. I asked one son this morning if I could do so with his info, he said, sure. Other son makes to much money to do something like this.

We have to find some kind of system for those CD’s that are maturing now. I have 1 MM acct that will pay 1.40% for a year. Most of my add-on CD’s are gone now.

I was using the Citi Priority deal & wanted to take the $50k out of Patriot Bank for the deposit. After that flub-up, I went to TIAA Bank & $50k went through right away. (actually $30k & I will finish up when I get those funds back out of Patriot.

That’s a pretty basic and common fraud prevention measure. Account to account transfers are supposed to match names. Be careful doing this, - I havent heard it recently, but people have been banned by the ACH service itself (the service that banks contract with to provide transfers) for repeatedly trying to use mismatching names.

Yes, I found out the hard way. It was a mistake of my own. I usually add my husband to all accounts as soon as I get a chance. With Patriot Bank I was trying to do to many things at one time.

Patriot called & ask a lot of questions regarding the account. I did some explaining & then they said, “no way”. But I think everything ended ok.

But, thing is, I was able to go to TIAA Bank & make the transfer. Guess some banks & CU are more lenient & don’t bother with details.

I tried to fund my sons WF bonus acct (4k DD) from Key bank and when I put in his info they tried instant verification with my sons logon for WF. came back that I can only xfer to accts I own. So went to BOA (3.00 fee ) and they do not give a hoot…and it also counted as DD.

The $400 in this case also requires a $4K deposit for the whole year to avoid the monthly fee and early termination penalty. No word on whether downgrading is possible.

This one does not require leaving 4K for 4 mo, just 4K in DD, then $1500 or $500/mo DD to avoid the fee.
