Does the coronavirus merit investment, or personal, concern or consideration?

Don’t worry – the ones with parents that are now WFH also think "since we have kids we are super safe and perfect hygiene and precautions and it’s a great time they should go see the grandparents too! No chance we could be a risk of spreading it! "

Please give an alternative to beating head against the wall talking with sibling with children…

California gets 2 more months for tax filing and payment.

I don’t recall where I found this site but it has up to date minute numbers for world wide confirmed infected, deaths and recovery for COVID-19. If you start tracking it daily yourself you start to get a better picture.

It is to be noted that the four countries with the most recorded deaths also have strong cultural ties with their elderly and/or community relations with their elderly and/or higher populations of elderly citizens.

Start tabulating now because a few dots a week ago turned crazy as of looking at this today. It truly has spread to nearly every country on the globe.

To be noted though is the number of recovered vs deaths. The vast majority of people infected have in fact recovered.

That’s a link to partial data. Here’s the link to the full dashboard by Johns Hopkins University:

Here’s another tracker that has important news updates from around the world and per-day stats for the most impacted countries, including US:
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

I think both were already mentioned in this thread.

If you’re talking about confirmed cases, then this is no longer true as of 1 or 2 days ago. At this time the number of daily confirmed cases exceeds the number of daily recoveries.

Thanks Scripta! Your links are much better.

And just to give people something else to be aware of:

I don’t want to seem like a shill for Krebs site. It’s just that his articles were the ones that most of my clients could readily understand and/or finish reading.

I’m beginning to wonder if our politicians really are world class thieves. I don’t know if they’re smart enough. I guess that if you can take money without being smart, what’s the incentive.

And for those who only read the title, I should clarify that the map website itself was not infected with malware – malware-carrying apps were displaying the info from the website.

I meant the recovery rate vs death rate. Sorry, I wasn’t very clear.

5pm task force briefing–

Trump:“I’m very happy, we’re going to see great things happen!” … " We have total control over this tremendous virus" “Relax… we’re doing great!”

Followed by Pence repeatedly sniffling while standing crammed next to 5+ other people (not 5-6ft).

Fauci:“As I’ve said many times, the worst is yet ahead of us.”

Edit:Futures opened after the fed rate cut Trump was so happy about and pretended is relevant to the coronavirus progress. Negative - almost at circuit breaker. Also, bank reserve requirements set to 0%. I don’t know what this even means? Infinite lendingmoney factor? Anyone know?

Edit2: only took 15 minutes for futures to hit the limit down

Wish I would have listened to this thread more. Holy crap there could have been millions to be made buying puts.

The fed couldn’t even wait 3 days for the FOMC meeting to cut raises. That tells you they know how terrible things are out there.

A study out this week finds that the virus can survive on hard surfaces such as plastic and stainless steel for up to 72 hours and on cardboard for up to 24 hours.

I wonder if people who get it early and recover are going to have a big payday for selling blood plasma/serum.

They’re definitely gonna have earned a cheap vacation / cruise / flight at the start of vacation travel resuming.

An EM doctor here is in critical condition. He is only in his 40s.

The following factors may be game changer:

  • An effective vaccine.
  • Effect of warmer weather.

We shall see. I’m in the hot zone and it’s no fun.

We don’t need no stinkin masks …

This grabbed my attention while scanning the story.
In Mexico we have a culture of a little bit more of hygiene that helps us to limit this kind of transmissions,” he said.

Mexico has changed radically since I was last there … 30+ years ago.
