Thanks, good info. I guess these antibody treatments need to be given sooner, severe cases are too late for that.
All of which coincide with being defensive, which is normal for anyone who’s being attacked over their beliefs and personal choices.
Tell a poor person it’s their own fault they are poor, and they’ll tend to be just as callous, hostile, and deceitful in their reactions. But in that case, you’d also be declared racist just for making the claim. Since, ya’ know, it’s only ok to provoke people if you are proking the “right” people.
PFE should be meeting their vaccine first look very soon.
The board will not conduct its analysis until after there are 32 cases of Covid-19 diagnosed in Pfizer’s phase three trial. The board could recommend ending the trial if the vaccine is found to be at least 77% effective, which means it could reduce the risk of getting Covid by 77%.
With no interims conducted yet, Pfizer’s “infection rates must be much lower than initially estimated given that they were previously ‘confident’ of a conclusive answer in October,” Brad Loncar, biotech investor and chief executive officer at Loncar Investments, said in a tweet Tuesday.
Just to elaborate on that, the better a vaccine works, the longer it takes to hit the fixed 32 cases for the data review. This is since you have to wait for all needed people in the placebo group to get sick (since the vaccinated people aren’t getting sick much), so the smaller effective group size means a slower infection rate.
Sure enough, I expect results to finalize the week after the election. Welcome Results!!
Likelihood is it will continue to grow as more and more people are infected and will require hospitalization overwhelming medical facilities. When medical personnel get sick, there’s no easy replacement for people with many years of education, training, and experience.
If you think nothing can be done about it, consider that the US has by far the worst case in the world of corona virus infections and deaths. This is likely because Trump has been trying to ignore it and tell people not to take any preventive measures.
Anyone find this disgusting? Think about it: America, Number Last, with a President who likes to encourage the spread of a deadly virus.
There’s no way around these facts. Do you want to help Americans and take proven methods of stopping a virus or not? The economic cost will be far, far greater than shutting down some things and taking preventive measures. Just consider other countries might want to quarantine America as the sick man of the world.
No one in other countries is asking or following Trump’s advice on handling the corona virus. Fortunately for them.
Not sure which of the threads to put this
Except that the percentage of people requiring hospitalization isnt nearly as high as it was in the spring, when those brilliant state governors intentionally spread the virus around our most vulnerable in nursing homes.
Do you find that disgusting? Because that really is a fact there is no way around.
I know, Andrew Cuomo saying “Trump has no authority to tell New Your State what to do” (in almost those exact words) obviously means “this is all Trump’s fault” in hindsight. ![]()
Interpret this for me, please. Because I feel a number of contradicting reactions from that article. ![]()
But hey, screw the vaccine - put a santa on every street corner, and we’ll achieve herd immunity by New Years…
Why is the report’s finding disturbing? I’d think the results would be a common sense expectation. Nurses are the one job that deals with actual infections, not just potential exposure. They’re directly exposed pretty constantly, all day, every day.
What’s missing is the percentage of nurses who have not even been infected. I’m guessing that number is well into the 90s. Because, once again, we’re reacting to what might happen, rather than what does happen.
Wait a minute - this is a how many person trial? And it’s been ongoing for how long? And it’s yet to have a mere 32 participants infected?
Shouldnt half the control group be dead by now, according to all the headlines of how contagious and deadly and grim this virus is?
Google says that there are approx 4,000 air marshals. So “nearly” 100 would be 2.5%.
Nationwide, there have been 8.85 million cases, in a population of 330M. Which is 2.7%.
Clearly, flying is having no adverse effect on the risk of becoming infected. Besides, air marshals dont live on planes 24/7.
Why would you think that air marshals are immune to the virus? Because that’s the only angle that would support the implication that 100 air marshals testing positive somehow indicates flying isnt safe.
Maybe instead of reporting “100 tested positive! Ahhhh!!!”, we should note that after 8 months of tens of thousands of flights during an ongoing pandemic, 97.5% of air marshals remain uninfected by the virus. I find that to be a pretty notable statistic.
30,000 expanded to 44,000. The expansion to younger and older patients probably hasn’t been long enough for them to get their second dose after a month, so the first number is the relevant one for now. Apparently less than 0.1% have been infected, although what counts as an infection may have moderate standards such that asymptomatic cases may not count. I forget the details and don’t recall the size of the vaccine vs placebo arms for that trial.
I think I already posted before that not wearing a mask was previously linked to psychopathy (which is antisocial). It literally means that the non-wearer just does not care about anybody else.
Coincide – maybe. Cause – no.
You keep bringing this up, but you’ve never said that it’s not true. I’m pretty sure he really doesn’t have the authority to tell states what to do.
Context, scripta, context. It doesnt matter if it’s true or not.
What matters is the states openly rejected his authority. And y’all are now blaming him for not using that same authority everyone previously insisted he didnt have.
This is your kids wanting french fries but you refuse to stop to pick some up - and then once home, you blame your kids as the reason you dont have any fries to eat.
