There is an extremely short supply. Yes states use it (my city does too). But they either use a lottery system or reserve for some of the absolute worse cases. Because of the very tiny supply…
Not according to the Lilly CEO. They have it sitting on their shelves, just waiting. And they are fully able to make more.
He mentioned only several states are taking full advantage: Maryland, South Dakota, and possibly Texas (not sure). Many other states are oblivious to the availability.
One other thing the Lilly CEO mentioned:
Lots of hospitals are “not set up” for the two hour infusion process. It’s not at all quick like getting a shot or taking a pill. Hence the administration absorbs more resources.

July looks like the deadliest month in modern history for 25-44 (to likely be surpassed in nov/dec).
Almost double regular death rate in 25-44. (Obviously this group is losing 40-60yrs each death vs 5-10 for each ‘old’ death)
In 1995, HIV infection was the leading cause of death among Americans ages 25 to 44 and accounted for 19% of deaths from all causes in this age group. At that time there were about 13,000 young Americans dying per month, Faust said, “And we have just gone right past that this year. And it was not just because the population is bigger; it’s actually very similar in that age group. So now we’ve got 16,000 [deaths per month]; 15,000 in the fall.”
So this July, an 25-44 year old had a .018% chance of dying from any cause. Last July, they had a .013% chance.
So a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent implied due to Covid. I guess I’ll let you do the worrying for me, I’m ok with the risk. The odds were pretty overwhelming that I’d end up in the group of 85 million who didn’t die -but if not, and I’m one of the unfortunate ones who does die, it’s as likely to be from cancer or a car accident than from Covid.

The British government said on Saturday the new strain appeared to be spreading 70% faster than earlier variants and is responsible for a surge in cases in London and its surrounding areas. Recorded cases across the U.K. in the week to Sunday rose 51% over the week before.

Vaccines for me and not for thee - Congress decides they’re “essential” and hence a priority for getting vaccines, even if they aren’t old or at risk. Do we really have a shortage of people willing to serve Congress?
Meanwhile, the MSM tries to give Trump a hard time about not taking the vaccine when he’s already had the virus and is presumably more immune to the virus than someone who got a vaccine.

Follow up post since we are getting towards the end of the year.
I did everything I could to come up with cash in March. I withdrew all of my HELOC, borrowed 100k from credit cards at 0%, cashed out a whole life insurance policy my family foolishly bought me in the 1980s, set my 401k paycheck contributions to 75%, and stopped paying my mortgage.
I was close to calling the bottom of the market. I bought in on April 1st after I saw the Federal Reserve was creating dozens of bailouts and creating massive inflation. Most of my accounts are up 40-60% and I have unrealized gains of around 500k.
Within a few weeks of doing all this my HELOC got closed, so it was a good thing I took the cash out when I could.

Dr Birx, one of the faces of the covid task force, will retire.
This decision, rather than to take a similar position in the incoming administration, comes a day after she was busted for hosting a large Thanksgiving family gathering at her vacation home after telling everyone else they definitely shouldn’t celebrate with other households.
She tried to claim she was just traveling to her vacation home to get it ready for sale, while just coincidentally meeting up with her large extended family on Thanksgiving day for a big meal, but no one believed her and she lost her chance at any future role.

And the haggling is done with a win for the US. Trump admin secured another 100M PFE vaccine doses, the vast majority of which will be delivered by June and the balance by July.
No word on who else gets delayed or how much we paid, but that’s someone else’s problem.
