Does the coronavirus merit investment, or personal, concern or consideration?

So if not anyone in the EU and not Canada, I guess you’re saying we are last in a line of one? Especially since, as was the point I was replying to, it’s entirely up to us how much, if any, vaccine even leaves our borders.

There’s only 28 member states in the EU. That leaves a long list of countries not in the EU. I only said the EU would hobble a “selfish” vaccine response (not saying a hoarding response is bad, per se). But there are many EU states doing significantly better on minimizing the health and economic response, despite limit border control ability.

You think Israel and Saudi Arabia are in the EU?

AZN updated data/results on their vaccine.

Not quite sure what to think about it seeming to matter a lot how long you wait between getting the two doses. They also suggest vaccinated people seem to be less likely to transmit the virus.

Just to follow up on the above, here’s a link to the AZN updated trial data paper

if I’m reading the results right, it looks like the reduction is spread is all driven by reduction in symptomatic cases, and their asymptomatic case stats were not significant. I guess that makes sense?

Surprisingly, none had affiliations with the multitude of Chicom govt sponsored “private companies”. Not surprisingly, some are nuns in Hong Kong, w̶h̶i̶s̶t̶l̶e̶b̶l̶o̶w̶e̶r̶s̶ unknown dead people in Wuhan, and Hong Kong community organizers.

Does vaccine ring = anal swab?

Why the pandemic persists in America.

It’s strange how some think pedanticism is a sign of intelligence.

So how many deaths have been traced to shopping at this grocery store? Or is you blaming the store more just a theory that’s not really based on any sort of tangible evidence?

Trends seem like they’re improving a lot, both cases and hospitalizations.

Between the rising vaccine rates and the falling cases post-holidays, and possibly also post a winter/seasonal peak, I think things are looking promising for the spring here in the US. It’s possible some of the variants may yet reverse this, but given there seems to be at least decent protection from the existing vaccines against these, esp the UK one which has been here for a while at low levels, maybe we end up fine in spite of these. I mean, there have been lots of variants the whole time, it’s just a question of if they matter practically in terms of being a worse virus or better vs the vaccines.

From the AP:

WASHINGTON — Biden administration officials are weighing sending masks to every American as they hope to nudge individuals to do their part in lowering coronavirus transmission rates.

White House chief of staff Ron Klain said in an interview with NBC News that administration officials are looking at using mask supplies that the government already has in its stockpile.

Klain said that the administration hopes to make an announcement on a potential move “in the next few days or next week.”

Biden has pleaded for Americans to wear masks during the first 100 days of his administration. It’s a step he said could help save thousands of lives as Americans await their turn to be vaccinated.

Russian vaccine phase 3 results look good. It’s a virus vector vaccine and showed about 92% efficacy after two shots.

Like several other vaccines we’ve seen, it took 2-3 weeks before the vaccine group started to see improved health outcomes vs the placebo, and by the time they got to a couple weeks after the second shot, none of the vaccine group needed to be hospitalized even if they did occasionally get some mild symptoms.

Darn I just bought 20 KN95. Maybe I should complain about how I paid for them already to all the free loaders

A plan to do this was proposed by HHS and USPS last April, but it was nixed by the T**** White House.

[valium, pause for fifteen, and then read]
Maybe you should ask for a “mask bailout”. Don’t pay your bill for 10 years, and complain that there has been no “bask bailout”.

Better to send $900/1800/2700/3600/some other multiple … before it’s nixed by the Puj*** HofR.

Of course the USPS was proposing it. Adding 300 million packages to the system seems a little self-serving.

But seriously, who cares about last April? This is now, and now after so many people have already spend so much on masks, only to have the government waste all this money sending more masks that no on is going to use? Does anyone seriously think that someone who isnt wearing a mask now will suddenly decide to because Biden sent them a free one? Virtually all of them will be either tossed on a desk to collect dust (because people already have their own), or thrown directly into the garbage (because they refuse to wear one regardless).

I’d understand setting up an 800 number for folks to call to order some free of charge. But pushing out a delivery to every single person would be 99% pure waste. It’s practically the definition of trying to make it look like you are doing something without actually accomplishing anything.

I was just pointing out that it’s not a new idea, since that wasn’t mentioned in the post to which I was replying.

To the rest of your point – it’s all part of a sinister plot to force a face mask down everyone’s throat!
