As soon as it became available to everyone, people started losing interest. The powers-that-be should’ve kept it like the early years of facebook – by invitation only.
Or maybe it was just a coincidence.
Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.
We all know that you’re never wrong. … and if you don’t believe my slightly hysterical post, just ask @scripta. We all know that he’s never wrong … just ask him.
New Coronavirus Detected In Patients At Malaysian Hospital; The Source May Be Dogs
This story reminds me of the movie Men In Black.
There’s always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable little planet, and the only way these people can get on with their happy lives is that they DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!
PFE / BNTX expecting their vaccine to be 70-75% effective against the Indian variants. This is similar to what studies have found for their vaccine against other more tested variants like the S Africa one.

In the first half of 2020, the agency estimated that U.S. life expectancy at birth had declined by about a year since 2019, to 77.8 years… “I expect it’s likely two years or more once we add the rest of the data,” said Robert Anderson, chief of the mortality statistics branch at the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics. The decrease will largely depend on the age patterns of deaths in the second half of last year, he said.
survey data from the American Diabetes Association show nearly a quarter of adults with diabetes reported challenges managing their blood glucose during the pandemic, and 17% reported developing new complications such as high blood pressure and heart problems. Poorer disease management can lead to serious health consequences
One thing I didn’t understand was how they decided that life expectancy at birth for someone born today in the US has dropped.
In the first half of 2020, the agency estimated that U.S. life expectancy at birth had declined by about a year since 2019, to 77.8 years.
Existing life expectancy sure, that’s down because of risk to old people dying sooner. But kids are very very rarely dying of covid, so even if you expect it to be endemic going forward, either they get it young and it likely doesn’t matter or they get a vaccine before they get old enough to be at risk.
That’s a falsehood. Rarely immediately dieing, yes. But long covid is common, and seems to be even more common in “asymptomatic” kids (the early studies are showing almost half with 6 month impairments. TBD when/if they recover fully) than the 20-40 where it’s also common.
Yes, for example, a 35 year old is also a more likely candidate for a double lung transplant than an 80yr old if their lungs fail, so even they won’t show up in the immediate deaths stat. But they lose more years of life than that 80yr old who dies prematurely.
Here’s some discussion of the research into ongoing covid health issues in children. Not super encouraging as you say, but TBD on if it lasts.
All businesses and government entities must ascertain the vaccination status of personnel and must comply with the rules for personnel who are not fully vaccinated, as required under” a recent county order.
This is outrageous. Just off the top of my head it’s a violation of the fourth amendment, HIPAA, even the right to privacy that Roe v. Wade found in the constitution
Edit. In case you only trust left wing news sites:
here’s the NIH grant for Wuhan to study coronaviruses, last and most important part of their mandate below.

- Test predictions of CoV inter-species transmission. Predictive models of host range (i.e. emergence potential) will be tested experimentally using reverse genetics, pseudovirus and receptor binding assays, and virus infection experiments across a range of cell cultures from different species and humanized mice.
Looks like they found the intermediate host, and it’s a humanized (lab) mouse in the Wuhan lab ![]()
So true… All the people in the USA have certain rights given by our constitution.
So leave the people alone. Left wing democrats (Pelosi & gang) want to lay down their rules. Those Americans who do not wish to have covid protection have their right to say no.
To refuse the vaccination is not my way of thinking. But the people can their rights…
It looks like the legal situation is thoroughly confusing so as usual the small business owner is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
"Because the average business is not a covered entity or a business associate of a covered entity within the meaning of HIPAA, the statute does not prohibit them asking them about vaccination status,” Glenn Cohen, a Harvard Law school professor
But not everyone sees such a clear-cut situation. Carmen Roe, a legal analyst for KHOU, said she thinks it will be up to the courts to determine whether businesses can ask for vaccine cards before allowing people to take off their masks.
“I think it runs a very serious risk of interfering with federal privacy laws that are on the books, that are there that have never been tested in the way these vaccinations are testing them,” Roe told the TV station. “Once we get a test case, I think things are not going to go well for any business who tries to force someone to produce that information before they enter.”
Another gray area involves the vaccine cards themselves, one health expert told WFSB.
“It will take a court to decide whether a vaccination record falls under HIPAA guidance or guidelines or if it’s extenuating circumstance for private business,” said Karl Minges, an assistant professor at the University of New Haven, according to the TV station.

If they wanted to get more people to get their vaccines, they should show these folks’ pictures around more.
That’s a common but fundamental misunderstanding of the Constitution (including the bill of rights).
The US Constitution does not give any rights. Rights do not come from the government. Rights come from being a person, and the Constitution restricts the government from infringing on some of them.
Privileges, on the other hand, are granted by the government. But not rights.
Thank you!! So you agree with me… ![]()
??? You said you were given rights by the Constution. No, that’s not how it works.
Rights come from the American people!! Give up… Get the swamp off our backs…
This is a meaningless quibble. Even the lawyers say the constitution confers rights.
The Fifth Amendment creates a number of rightsrelevant to both criminal and civil legal proceedings. In criminal cases, the Fifth Amendment guarantees the right to a grand jury, forbids “double jeopardy,” and protects against self-incrimination. It also requires that “due process of law” be part of any proceeding that denies a citizen “life, liberty or property” and requires the government to compensate citizens when it takes private propertyfor public use.
