The U.S. Energy Department has concluded that the Covid pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak, according to a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress.
The shift by the Energy Department, which previously was undecided on how the virus emerged, is noted in an update to a 2021 document by Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines’s office.
The Energy Department’s conclusion is the result of new intelligence and is significant because the agency has considerable scientific expertise and oversees a network of U.S. national laboratories, some of which conduct advanced biological research.
Whatever theoretical benefits there might be, in clinical trials the benefits have turned out to be either illusory or offset by negative factors. Oxford’s Tom Jefferson, the lead author of the Cochrane review, summed up the real science on masks: “There is just no evidence that they make any difference. Full stop.”
This lack of evidence would be enough to keep any new drug or medical treatment from being approved—much less one whose purported benefits had not even been weighed against the harmful side effects. As the Cochrane reviewers disapprovingly note, few of the clinical trials of masks even bothered to collect data on the harmful effects on subjects. Most public health officials and journalists have ignored the downsides, too, and social media platforms have censored evidence of those harms. But there’s no doubt, from dozens of peer-reviewed studies, that masks cause social, psychological, and medical problems, including a constellation of maladies called “Mask-Induced Exhaustion Syndrome.”
That paper is really weird. In the appendices, it shows that they selected things entirely unrelated to masking, like wearing sunglasses, gargling Vitamin D or putting Iodine on your hands.
At the end, they essentially say that they got inconclusive results, but the studies that actually have to deal with masking when it comes to N95s in hospital settings in their appendix show that they do their thing.
I can buy that the mandates might not have been effective, but it’s really hard to support that conclusion from the data that they provided, and they say that they have “Low to Moderate” confidence in that conclusion.

One big one was that natural immunity was worse than vaccines, hence justifying mandates for Covid survivors. Lies and flies in the face of obvious immunology to boot. More on that.

Twitter flagged posts that claimed natural immunity was superior to vaccines as “misleading.” Facebook’s misinformation policystill restricts distribution of content that “implicitly discourages vaccination by advocating for alternatives” such as “natural immunity.”
The false denial of natural immunity caused vaccine skeptics to dig in and fueled suspicions that public-health officials were in the pocket of vaccine makers and dishonest about other things as well.
The Lancet study could serve a useful political purpose by giving public-health officials cover to relax vaccine mandates, which in turn could reduce resistance to vaccines. But this would require the clerisy to concede its opponents were right.
You can debate over why they lied, and whether they thought it was in the public interest, but you cannot possibly believe this is in the public interest, well, not Black Americans’ interest.
The premise is that in a pandemic or other worldwide disease emergency, Americans should not get better or faster health care than inhabitants of third world countries.

A good compromise might be requiring the government to review potential GOF experiments AND those so classified could only be published or cited in a classified government academic journal for that kind of research.
If you can’t get publication bragging rights out of your experiments, I bet a whole lot less of them will get done by academics.

Taibbi describes the Virality Project as “a sweeping, cross-platform effort to monitor billions of social media posts by Stanford University, federal agencies, and a slew of (often state-funded) NGOs.”
They would only “suggest” to idiots, or progressives, and I don’t presume that’s necessarily redundant … but don’t rule it out, either. They are proof positive to anyone looking at the full scope / history of the attempts to control the populace during the covid “scare”.

The FDA had approved COVID vaccines on an emergency -use basis in December 2020, before Biden even took office.
Newly released emails reveal that Acting Commissioner Janet Woodcock was concerned because “states cannot require mandatory vaccination” without FDA final approval, according to the chief of FDA’s vaccine-review office, Marion Gruber.
Gruber warned that a thorough evaluation was needed due to “increasing evidence of association of this vaccine and development of myocarditis (especially in young males).”
After Gruber balked, Woodcock placed a loyal subordinate in charge of the process, and the vaccine got full approval Aug. 23.
