I think I met the terms for Capital One's $1000 bonus, can I withdraw most of my money before the bonus hits the account?

Here is the fine print:

How do you earn the cash bonus?
Apply for a new Basic or Enhanced checking account online by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept. 15, 2025, with the promo code Q3BONUS1000. Promo code MUST be used when completing the online application.

To become eligible for the offer bonus, you must have an existing Capital One Business credit card for 90 days prior to account opening and should sign in when filling out the application for business checking account. You must also complete the following qualifying activities on the newly opened Basic or Enhanced checking account:

To earn $1,000 bonus—

1) Within 30 days of account opening, deposit at least $30,000 from an external source (cash deposits and funds sourced from an account with another financial institution that was not affiliated with Capital One prior to Jan. 1, 2025, qualify;
transfers between Capital One accounts do not qualify);

2) maintain at least $30,000 as minimum end-of-day balance for at least 60
days within 90 days of account opening;

3) make 10 qualifying electronic transactions within 90 days of account opening. Qualifying
transactions include electronic wire (credits or debits), electronic ACH (credits or debits) and electronic remote check deposit.

When will you get your bonus? Capital One will deposit the bonus into your new business checking account within 45‑60 days of meeting all the offer requirements. The bonus will be reflected on your monthly statement.

I have an existing Capital One Business credit card for 90 days prior to account opening

I opened the Basic checking account account on 9/11/2025

I deposited $30,000 from Primis Bank on 9/30/2025

I’ve had at least $30,000 minimum balance since that deposit

I’ve made 10 ACH transfers from external accounts between Oct. 11 and Dec. 3

My question is, since I fulfilled term #2, can I withdraw all but $2,000 which is the minimum balance without a service fee, until the bonus hits the account? It’s not earning any interest there.

I don’t have personal DP to confirm, but it sounds like you’ve fulfilled all the requirements and should be able to withdraw.

That’s what I’m thinking. Not sure if calling customer service would get any confirmation.

Why are you even questioning it? The terms are very clear, you are good to withdraw. Is this your first time doing a bank SUB? No need to contact them unless bonus doesn’t post by the deadline.

I signed up in November and will withdraw in January, after ~62 days. I usually give it an extra 2 days for bank SUBs.

If you mean bonus, actually my second but don’t want to lose it on a technicality they might come up with.

Personally, I would maintain the balance until the full 90 days is up. 90 days is a prominent timeframe that may be coded in ways other than what the terms actually say, and it’s always best to try to trigger the promo payout automatically. If it were a lesser balance, I’d say it’s best to wait until the bonus is paid, but in this case sitting on it another 45 days if going to cost you upwards of $150 in interest.

That said, you’re at 90 days now. So go for it.

I used to do that when I first started. Once you learn to read the details in the terms and conditions, save screenshots of your application and all the terms, there’s no reason to do anything more than what is spelled out in those terms.

Also there are other sites that summarize these terms so you don’t have to read them, and other people who provide their own data points so you can check.
