Lawn damage claim and proof

We have a corner lot and an accident at the intersection spilled over to our lawn. My claim is approved. Before we get paid, Auto Insurance co wants proof of ownership. Even though the police report mentions my name and address.

Is this normal?

As new house owner am i little hesitant to give copies of Title.

This is already in the public records, so I’d pull up the info from the County Appraiser’s (or whatever the tax/records authority is called in your area) website and give it to them.

If you haven’t ever pulled up your public records related to your land/deeds/titles, you should… you might be amazed at what you can find for free.

For example: The Capitol Records Building in Los Angeles (Link to Image) - here is the property tax info: https://portal.assessor.lacounty.gov/parceldetail/5546030028 .

You can find the same for your property, plus (usually) a copy of the deed and other docs related to your mortgage loan on the property / house. Some places have this online, some make you go and search in person at the County.
