Hopefully we get a non-woke alternative to Twitter that’s actually half way competent. I won’t except that from Trump Media (DWAC stock), but here’s a guy who could easily build his own and cares about talking online almost as much as our last Prez.

I don’t see what’s in it for Musk. A Twitter replacement would not related to his scientific initiatives. Plus it’s not like twitter is making tons of money either.
I’m so confused about this. If we are suppose to accept biology as being subjective, then it is subjective - meaning there is no inherently right or wrong answer.
Thank god these people weren’t around back in the 60s, or the ‘solution’ to whites-only drinking fountains would’ve been demanding some select black people be allowed to declare that they identify as white while continuing to embrace the racist nature of such segregation.

Twitter could make lots of money if it was run as a responsible business and not the woke propaganda arm of the progressive party.
Musk would be able to keep his Twitter style engagement with his audience, important for both himself (ego) and his stock promotions (net worth). Like Trump or Tucker, he’s just one misstep away from losing all his followers without his own, or a more free speech oriented, major platform none of which have been forthcoming yet. TWTR has market cap of about $31 billion and they are losing money. A loss of $220 million on revenue of $1.5 billion for the year ending on December 31, 2021.

I can think of two obvious ones, and there are certainly more.
- In all likelihood, he would not be suspended/banned/expelled.
- For the on-again, off-again richest man in America, providing a less racist, less homophobic, less fascist, more tolerant social media platform could be its own reward. Making it profitable would only be icing on the cake.

I don’t know if he should do this style of engagement via Twitter considering that got him into hot water with the SEC 4 years back and he had to settle. Last year, he got in trouble for that again with the SEC. These were on Twitter. With Musk in control of the platform and not afraid to get suspended by Twitter (which he did not for the incidents flagged by the SEC), I’m not sure it’d be in his own best interest.

Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed the state’s Parental Rights in Education legislation, a bill banning classroom discussions of gender identity and sexual orientation for little children.
The governor promised Monday that parents have a “fundamental” role in the education, upbringing, and healthcare of their children, insisting that he will never cave to pressure from outside groups like Disney on this matter.

I think just about everyone, perhaps even Trump himself, would prefer an alternative that doesn’t have such a glaring bullseye painted on it that it’s already been “cancelled” before even being created.

That’d sound like a lose-lose for everyone involved. Less money for Disney, less tourists so less income for FL. So it won’t happen of course. Don’t think Disney can do much about the law anyway (maybe donate to Dems in state congress and governor races I guess) but it could be entertaining.
Although to be honest, I’m not sure why Disney involved themselves in it. They’re not exactly very woke and their movies are not typical classroom education material. So I’m not sure how they’re gonna be impacted and needed to react to that bill.
No I meant what I expect TrumpSocial to be. I don’t use twitter and won’t use TrumpSocial either so I don’t care. But I was picturing that to compete with 4chan more than with Twitter to be honest.

As I remember, it was the Disney employees and social media who forced the hand of Disney’s leadership to be against this bill. The CEO caved under public pressure but has no interest in cancelling Florida or the governor.
