The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

Just evidence of over regulation of firearms. Should have been a different “good” 12 year old with a gun to take care of these two rather than a police shootout.

What does this story have to do with politics?

Looks like the Biden and Democrat legislative agenda isn’t going to get railroaded through after all. Further guidance from the senate parliamentarian is a fair bit more limited than it was originally, so all sorts of non-budget items would have to be stripped out of the infrastructure bill and in addition the reconciliation couldn’t be used just to avoid the filibuster.

Not coincidentally, today Biden is now pitching a slimmed down infrastructure bill to try to get Republican support, including fewer taxes and less spending.

Although the Senate parliamentarian, the nonpartisan official who gives guidance about what is permitted, has indicated that lawmakers could technically use the same budget resolution to pass additional legislation, her subsequent guidance has indicated that could be cumbersome and run into procedural challenges, according to a copy of the ruling viewed by The Wall Street Journal.

Wonderful news! There is hope for our country.

Durham investigation has been revealed a joke

Trump haters are gonna love this one:

Durham: Last of the big time spenders (LMAO)

The joke is on Trump. I would offer this unsolicited counsel to the Trumpster:

President Trump, it’s a really big country with lots of very smart people throughout. When you choose a person to head an investigation into your political enemies, consider choosing an individual from one of the many places in America where you are popular. Avoid picking a gink from New England, where you are hated.

It’s just a thought, Mr. President. Or maybe you erroneously believe the person you choose will enjoy being detested and ostracized, as you are today in New York City. Durham is not about to sacrifice his, and/or his wife’s, social life for you. He is not willing to become an outcast in his home region in service to you, or as sole reward for revealing the truth regarding your persecution by the very same sorts of people who are in his social circle.

Pick someone from a region friendly to you, Mr. Trump. You will come out ahead.

Trump’s dilemma is that he does not, or at least he did not, know many people from regions of this country friendly to him. His circle included many New York people and, even worse, some New Englanders and “corridor” people.

I wonder whether Trump today finally realizes he cannot rely on such people as those. Like as not he remains unaware, though I hope he has smartened up a little after repeatedly being dumped on and thoroughly hosed by them, a process which continues even now.

But Trump is a New York City boy at base. They do not learn lessons very readily.

Hmmm…let me think.

Yes, it’s true, if you care to look it up. Black Americans founded Memorial Day by honoring Union soldiers who lost their lives in the Civil War.

Charlestown, SC had been a Confederate stronghold holding Union prisoners. About 250 died and Confederate soldiers about to flee buried them in unmarked graves.

At the end of the Civil War, black ministers and northern missionaries led an effort to give the soldiers who had fought for the freedom of slaves a proper burial.

They built a fence around the new cemetery and inscribed the words “Matyrs of the Racecourse” over the entryway (the park was a former racetrack).

On May 1, 1865, they organized a parade to honor them. The crowd numbered in the thousands with African American school children from the newly formed Freedmen’s Schools leading the procession. There were believed to be about 10,000 freed Black men and women gathered in historic Hampton Park.

The National Park service records it as the first observance of what is now recognized as Memorial Day.

A few years later, the Grand Army of the Republic formalized Decoration Day as a time to decorate the graves of war dead with flowers.

“DeJoy and his aides pressured employees of his North Carolina-based supply chain company into attending political fundraisers or making financial contributions to Republican candidates and then paid them back through bonuses. Such a scheme would likely violate federal law.”

"…multiple employees would donate the same amount on the same day. Many of them had never made political donations before. Five former employees confirmed…that DeJoy essentially funneled money through them by forcing them to attend fundraisers at his house.

I didn’t say those topics have nothing to do with politics. I asked you and Bender what that story has to do with politics. Are you trying to make a political point by posting it? If so, I don’t know what it is. What is it?

"* A family of four was targeted for flying Pride flags on their boat, one of the passengers told Insider.

  • A blue vessel circled the family and shouted homophobic abuse, the passenger said.
  • The family rescued the couple after their boat burst into flames. They never thanked them for it."

Which people would you want as neighbors?

That’s because it was a tiny fraction of the damage of last summer’s Peaceful Protests. Here’s a good review of historical riots and how the modern portrayal is clearly political rather than accurate.

@xerty are you upset about the media dismissing August “reinstatement” with “he will not” as an unfounded conspiracy hallucination?

The people with the rainbow flags. Why?

" George P. Bush is also the nephew of former President George W. Bush, who Trump has repeatedly ripped over the years. Trump mocked Bush’s mother, retweeting a message in 2015 that said Jeb Bush “has to like the Mexican Illegals because of his wife.” Trump even complained about his grandmother, saying former first lady Barbara Bush was “nasty to me.”

White privilege in education

According to Students for Fair Admissions’ analysis, a black applicant to Harvard in the 40th academic percentile of all applicants has a higher chance of admission than an Asian-American in the 90th academic percentile. Asians in the 90th academic percentile are unfavored compared with Hispanics in the 60th percentile and whites in the 80th percentile as well.

On the medical side, you remember the joke about what they call the person who graduates last in their med school class? “Doctor”

This phenomenon extends to medical schools and other graduate schools. A 2017 American Enterprise Institute study revealed that a black American with a 3.2–3.39 GPA and a 24–26 MCAT (under an older MCAT scoring system, since replaced) had a ten times higher chance of admission than an Asian-American with the same scores, and a higher chance than even an Asian-American with a 3.6–3.79 GPA and a 30–32 MCAT.

If you’re getting a young doctor, ie one who was admitted after these diversify initiatives began, you know who to pick if you want the statistical top of the class.

Accused Capitol rioter who yelled at police for ‘protecting pedophiles’ served jail time for statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl, report says

"A man accused of storming the Capitol and yelling at police officers for “protecting pedophiles” previously served jail time for the statutory rape of a teenage girl, according to a review of court records by CNN.

Footage obtained by the Metropolitan Police Department reveals that Sean McHugh used a megaphone at the Capitol riot to heckle police officers. “You guys like protecting pedophiles?” he said, according to federal prosecutors.

Yet, ironically, McHugh was convicted in 2010 on a California state charge of unlawful sex with a minor, CNN reported.

He was sentenced to 240 days in jail and four years of probation for the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl when he was 23, former prosecutor Todd Kuhnen told the media outlet. McHugh pleaded no contest to the charge, Kuhnen said."

“At the time of the deadly insurrection, he was on probation for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, the criminal complaint shows.”

Who’s done more to help Abuela? Alexandria Ocasio Cortez or conservative Matt Walsh fans?

In typical leftist fashion, actual help for the disadvantaged person is not their goal - talking about it and feeling virtuous about themselves is. Someone in AOC’s family killed the donation project so her poor grandma won’t get the money offered.

UPDATE: “Someone” in AOC’s abuela’s family told GoFundMe that she won’t take our money, even though AOC previously claimed that her grandma was in dire straits (and it was Trump’s fault). AOC still hasn’t acknowledged this effort or thanked us. Instead, she seems to think that it is worth $104,153 of her abuela’s money to express that doesn’t want money from the likes of us. Abuela could have accepted the money and donated it to charity, but it seems AOC preferred to insult the 5.800 people who donated.

GoFundMe is issuing a refund and assures us that 100% of every donation will be refunded within 3-7 business days. The email from GoFundMe is copied below.

Tragically this charitable effort has been sabotaged by forces outside of our control. Still I’m grateful for the outpouring of support for Abuela, even if AOC isn’t. But questions remain: Why didn’t AOC help her own abuela? Why was our help turned down? We are left to speculate.

Democrat Manchin Will Vote Against HR1 Election Deform Bill

He wrote an editorial in a West Virginia newspaper. He also says he will not vote to end the filibuster. I wish I could believe him but let’s see what happens after Schumer and the rest of the left have him in their sights for a few months. It is telling that self styled moderates like Conor Lamb and Tim Ryan voted for this monstrosity.

Edit: changed the newspaper headline so it more accurately describes the bill
