The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

It’s amazing that the Trump administration is the first in US history to make the Postal Service worse and they are doing ti deliberately. It is an utter sacrilege. Mail is being deliberately delayed. Is that good business? Is it good for business? Is it good for people who receive prescriptions, checks, documents, etc. through the mail? Is it good for shipping in the midst of a pandemic? Is it good for voting?

Trump could be impeached on this alone. It is against federal law to interfere with the mail and against federal and most state laws to interfere with voting in any way. When will Republicans step up and defend America? Trump is deliberately and openly interfering with the established voting system and delivery of mail, your mail and your vote.

That entire article is about overtime being cut in a business that’s drowning in red ink. You can keep trying to spin it to suit your narrative, but in reality that’s called “common sense”.

Yeah here’s a less hyperbolic take on the USPS situation and how all these actions and problems were taken well before the election / virus.

I’m so confused… Now we’re supposed to not be accepting of beliefs that are different than our own?

These are duly elected (or in this case, nominated) representatives. They should be accepted as much as anyone should be accepted.

There are new revelations on this. First of all, Robert Trump was 71 years of age, not 72. More importantly it has been announced he had been on blood thinners for quite some time prior to passing away.

I looked this up on WebMD. Says there blood thinners are often prescribed to deal with atrial fibrillation in order to forestall chance of having a stroke. Apparently Robert Trump suffered a serious fall, hitting his head and starting a brain bleed which his doctors could not bring under control owing to presence in his system of the blood thinners. Modern medicine; cure more dangerous than the disease.

Anyway, despite his tough guy persona word is this death has really gotten to President Trump. Bet the Trump haters are really licking their chops over this outcome. Wonder what could make them happier. Maybe if Barron Trump were run over by a car while crossing the street.

That’s not really fair. I took Biden’s comment to be sincere. I’m sure a lot would celebrate something happening to Trump, but I doubt they wish anything ill on his family.

Unfounded assumptions about what people are “really” thinking is what’s driving a whole lot of the controversy. On both sides.

Yes, Trump’s failings where the USPS is concerned are legendary. Let’s wander together only a short way back to December of 2016 when Democrats still were in charge:

Nobody is in charge at the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) Board of Governors after today when the last Senate-confirmed governor’s term expires, leaving Postmaster General Megan Brennan and Deputy Postmaster Ronald Stroman large and in charge, with no oversight.

Without the board, Brennan and Stroman can’t choose a permanent Inspector General (IG), select a firm for independent financial statement audits, submit the IG’s semiannual reports to Congress, or raise or lower mail rates, among other functions, according to a November USPS IG report.

“This unprecedented situation could have broad ramifications for the Postal Service,” the report said. “If someone at the Postal Service were to act on on these matters, it would be done without statutory authority and subject to legal change.”

The number of governors on the postal board has dwindled as nobody has been appointed to new terms since 2010. Former Democratic presidential candidate and Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders has blocked multiple presidential appointments to the board, according to outgoing governor James Bilbray, a former Democratic congressman from Nevada. Meanwhile, the USPS’s deficit reached $5.6 billion this year.

Let me reiterate that was written in December of 2016, just prior to President Trump taking office. Since then he has been endeavoring to put right the scandalous mess left behind by Obama and his Democrats. Fixing the Post Office was on that list. But it was a VERY long list!!

For the record, I can say in all honesty I did not have Vice President Biden in mind when I wrote what I wrote. Period

But I did have in mind many other of today’s wild-eyed, off the chain, Democrat crazies.

Today at the convention, those loyal, Democrats could be overjoyed when the choral sings the National Anthem. The group that we see could all (or a few) fall down on one knee when the anthem is sung. They so enjoy when it occurs frequently now at events.

Some folks here (no names mentioned) love to see we loyal Republicans become enraged when we see that happen. On a knee, & listening to the National Anthem is so disloyal an UN American.

So as I said, Today it could happen. I won’t be watching the whole sit up this evening, but it could take place before our eyes.

Do you think they will have an invocation? I mean, it would offend half the attendees!

Guess that is an advantage for them of a virtual convention. During the invocation they can just hit “mute”.

Maybe they’ll hold a Bible upside down for a photo op? But they’d have to do that in front of a Church, over the objection of said Church.
Maybe gas some people on the way over?
That’d show some real piety.
I guess Biden would have to stop attending weekly services, too.

2020 all-around motto - “You really can’t make this sh__ up.”

Trump has publicly said he is not funding the Post Office to prevent the delivery of mail-in ballots. That is plenty of proof of deliberate obstruction. Mail is actually being delayed right now. The Postmaster is a major investor, to the tune of tens of millions of dollars in USPS competitors. He has cut overtime and told USPS to hold mail until delivery the next day.

I’ll give even odds there’s no American flag anywhere to be seen at the Democratic convention. Last time around they had lots of the colors and stripes and things, but an actual flag is apparently so offensive it was nowhere to be found.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen you post straight BS, that expectation is limited to a select group on this forum. But maybe it was a “joke” I missed and not meant as a serious statement and just an exaggeration.

You’re referring to the 2016 convention?

You mean this one? With a contingent of flags flaking the stage?

They don’t hide behind the flag.

Looks like we might have a new highest recorded/verified temperature on earth (129.9F), pending verification, breaking the 129.2 tie between Death Valley and Kuwait.

Also TIL what a “fire tornado” is. I thought the month(s) of 100-105F where I am was bad enough. But at least we don’t have fire tornados here yet…

Edit: seriously, the videos out of CA look insane…

Indeed… It was 108+ in my backyard yesterday. Today, close again. Unheard of high temps. :worried:

I guess they were off on the side, at least some of the time. I watched the TV/video coverage and the front and center main stage views you can’t see them behind or near the speaker.

Here was one with Bernie just finishing, which didn’t show them in the location of your picture. Then again, maybe Bernie asked for them to be specially removed ;).

I didn’t follow their convention, but I can only guess that Bernie spoke before the color guard brought in the flag (s). Pure speculation on my part though, doesn’t seem to match the schedule… But the other photo clearly shows there was a flag at some point.

Personally I don’t see a point of the contingent of flags flanking the center stage. (The four… or eight if four on the other side not seen from the picture. But subjectively they seem respectfully sized and displayed. ).
As more than one is exceeded, (or two in example, to be visible to people on each side), and you start throwing up flags of various sizes, the flag starts turning into a “decoration” and/or a prop. IMO it is hardly a respectful act to use it as such.

Edit:

Well played.
