What I learned from one Trump covid-19 presser was that I would pay to see him at a rally, but you couldn’t pay me to watch him read. Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but my judgement said to skip future ones. It’s like his brain can do two things at once - think and speak, but not think, read, and speak.
My wife says he’s getting better at fielding questions, though.
It is becoming worse for Biden. Even in friendly, pre-arranged interviews in his own home, the poor guy is unable to get his words out straight. Democrats have to be pulling their hair out. Meanwhile, Cuomo sits there in his many press conferences frankly “killing it”.
There is talk, if they can get to a brokered convention, if they even with this pandemic can get to a convention at all!, of finding a way to draft Cuomo. It’s clearer now than ever that Trump will destroy Biden in the debates. But Cuomo? I’m a Trump supporter. Let me tell you this having watched several of Cuomo’s performances:
Cuomo would give Trump a VERY tough time in a debate. Cuomo is not a young man; he is sixty-two years old. He still has all his faculties working at 100%. While Trump would appear very young alongside Biden, his age would surely be showing were he up against Cuomo.
I don’t like Democrats but let me tell you something: they are not in the least politically stupid. It’s just the opposite. They already know they have a sure loser with Biden whereas Cuomo could offer a path to the presidency. How to make the switch; that is their dilemma.
Direct audio clips. It’s obvious there’s missing between the first couple words in the ad, the “context” is the same in the sentence fragments from the actual “speech”, that the coverage/severity of the coronavirus was “a hoax”.
I don’t know. I thought the context was that the “hoax” is that this most recent thing being trumped up as reason to get rid of him. Russia didn’t get rid of him, impeachment didn’t get rid of him, now Corona isn’t going to get rid of him. No matter how hard some may try to pin the blame on him.
I mean, like a really dumb politician he makes it really easy to connect those dots if you’re already trying to connect them, but he pretty clearly did not call the virus itself a hoax.
BoJo has tested positive for coronavirus. Boris is 55 years of age. Carrie? I dunno. She is preggers of course with their baby.
Boris is a great Conservative and has done wonderful work maneuvering the UK out of their horrible European entanglement. But that work is not finished. If Boris should be lost I do not know who else could complete the job.
He is young enough and he should receive absolutely the finest care. We must hope for the best.
ETA
I suppose if it can happen to BoJo it can happen to Trump or even to Pence. Biden is safe at home for the present, and Bernie is probably safe even though we don’t hear much from him.
But with BoJo now, and Trudeau as well, already testing positive, how much longer will Trump be able to avoid the same fate?
Not in your cups this early? He’s better than two of the three other Boris’s we know. Check out some of his policies/taxes/fees/green_initiatives as mayor of London.
I’d take Maggie, in her current condition.
LeCoiffure is young enough, and dense enough, to survive with no noticeable loss of skill.
Trump did better in his presser yesterday. Too bad nobody saw it. The mainstream media has successfully placed Trump’s coronavirus task force news conferences on the back burner and virtually out of sight. They accomplished this in no small measure thanks to the total cooperation of Trump himself!
One has to assume whitehouse.gov is completely under Trump’s control. So why does he daily show the wrong time for the commencement of his pressers? Why does he tolerate technical problems (lousy sound) with his OWN feed! It’s beyond foolishness.
Anyway, with the late pressers the mainstream media has Trump right where they want him: off the air and out of sight. That way they get to filter everything that emerges from Trump’s presentations. I watch the actual events. The ensuing media spin is exactly what you would expect after four years of the same on every other issue out there.
But Trump seems unaware and he just laps it all up. Go figure.
Sometimes I wonder if he really plans to seek reelection.
Professor Biden did a CNN thing which I’ve not yet viewed. He appears intent on assembling an alternative coronavirus task force to criticize and second guess Trump’s real and genuine task force in real time. Biden is offering America badly-needed politicization of a pandemic response, even as that response is in progress. Count on Biden to be there for us!!
This is a good question. From the moment he entered the race, I wondered if his intention was to only serve one term. It’s one thing to risk losing an election no one expected him to win, another to lose as the incumbent and (what should be) the presumed favorite.
However, there has been no posturing among Republican alternatives. Trump walking away would be screwing the party at this point, and would be an even bigger black eye than actually losing.
Agreed. But if you watch the pressers start to finish you see the vastly enhanced role which has been granted to VP Pence. Pence is out there leading as much, if not more, than Trump. His personality is, of course, starkly different. It’s quite a contrast. And Pence is handling his part well, showing excellent leadership.
Naturally the press detests Pence almost as much as they hate Trump. You never see his leadership showing through in any of their coverage.
But to your point: I have to wonder if this elevation of Pence is step one of a game plan to move him to the top of the ticket, perhaps at the convention (if there is a convention) in a surprise announcement.
It could be that, it could also be setting Pence up to be thrown under the bus for the last couple months plus however long this lasts. It could get interesting to watch how it plays out, but I suspect it’ll just be a whole bunch of anticlimactic nothing.
I watched the Meet the Press interview with Vice President Biden this morning. I sat there smiling, just waiting to break out in laughter when he let loose with yet another gaffe.
It didn’t happen.
Biden was not perfect, but he did fine. He had one or two minor stumbles which could have happened to any one of us. But there were no embarrassing gaffes. Biden made his points and he appeared modestly reasonable.
I love pointing it out when Biden stumbles and sounds like an idiot. Have to be fair and tell it like it is when he does OK.
When an aberration occurs, one may wonder why. I’m sure NBC and it’s ilk would never consider providing an interviewee with the questions prior to the interview.
