The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

A few things:

  1. The NYT can release the records but aren’t so as not to jeopardize their sources.

  2. The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that the First Amendment allows the press to publish newsworthy information that was legally obtained by reporters even when those in power fight to keep it hidden. That powerful principle of the First Amendment applies here.

  3. Trump has repeatedly said he wants to release his taxes. Shouldn’t he be pleased?

  4. More important is what the documents reveal about Trump, which is what was expected by most with any experience with him.

  5. A President should be required to release this info. Most people in government, particularly where security clearances are required, have to reveal this information.

  6. You paid far more in income taxes than Trump.

Is it too jaded for me to wonder if their source is Trump himself? There are benefits to being able to play the victim card over this.

Of course it is more important. Unlike other stuff about Democrats, where what it reveals is irrelevant, and the only thing that matters is the source.

I think they’re what was expected by pretty much anyone who’s involved in real estate and business. They dont “reveal” much of anything about Trump.

Who said it was legally obtained? Not the NYT. If you read carefully, that’s not what they said and it’s almost certainly not true. What they said was the person who had access to them had legal access, such as an IRS or tax professional working on his return or at the firm where that was being done. They did not say that the person was legally allowed to steal them and leak them.

Ever wonder how Democrat controlled Blue cities manage be so fiscally sound?
Meet the Philadelphia city treasurer, appointed by big Blue mayor Jim Kenney.

I thought it was just the crazy Californians who were turning Colorado Blue
Apparently Democrats have renewed one of Mayor Daily’s methods of winning elections:

The information was legally obtained by reporters. That’s what the NYT stated in the Editor’s note.

Are you not interested in this info that Trump has said he wants released?

Do you think Presidents should not be vetted? Every president since the mid-1970s has made his tax information public. The tradition ensures that an official with the power to shake markets and change policy does not seek to benefit financially from his actions.

Do you enjoy paying more taxes than Trump?

You think way too highly of me, most certainly, and I suspect most on this board. President Trump paid $38,000,000 in 2005, the only year’s taxes that I know has been verified for the President. Now before you get all flustered, and start that vein popping in your head, this little tidbit comes from someone you bow to, or at least consider is trustworthy.

That pot was legally obtained ociffer. That’s what they said.

Especially the part about where all of his income comes from Russia. I’m combing through it diligently as we type.

Please quote the part of the article that says that the NYT legally obtained the tax returns. They make it easy to assume that, but they don’t say it because it’s unlikely to be true.

“The records show a significant gap between what Mr. Trump has said to the public and what he has disclosed to federal tax authorities over many years. They also underscore why citizens would want to know about their president’s finances: Mr. Trump’s businesses appear to have benefited from his position, and his far-flung holdings have created potential conflicts between his own financial interests and the nation’s diplomatic interests.”

Well, “a lot of people say” he’s been inflating asset values on loan applications while falsifying representation of value for property tax valuations. Oh wait, not just a lot of people saying… but court documents.

Its normal for a free press to verify sources and information but not release them in full.
It would be easy to disprove if the source information was incorrect.

On the other hand, not normal for a President to peddle conspiracy theories. (“a lot of people say”)

I already did. It’s in the Editor’s note.

Do you have any interest in what the tax returns say about Trump?

These are returns that Trump has said are “beautiful” and “perfect” and that he wanted released.

Right. Are these the same people and courts who are saying we have proof of (mud of the day) and this proof is certified, indisputable, unobjected, guaranteed, with a doubt, certain, positive, unquestionable, ̶s̶e̶t̶t̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶s̶c̶i̶e̶n̶c̶e̶, fact-checked, double-secret fact-checked, undeniable, blah, blah?

They may retract it by the morning.

Sorry, but that is not what “provided by sources with legal access to it” means.

It may fail, but at least he’s kept the “she raped me” claims from popping up early. They will come though, or something similar …“she was such a slut that she invited the football team” … This is unquestionable, and my memory is undeniable. I can even talk like a goo-goo doll if it will make me seem innocent.

Not particularly. For a real estate developer, I’d expect them to show near-zero taxable income most years.

We’ll just ignore that you cant narrow the timeframe down, even to the correct four years you were on that football team…
