This is a primarily a finance site. I think I hope many of us delve into all kinds of related subjects, like business and economics. Do others on here believe this claim?
The only statistic I think he relies on is the unemployment rate, which I believe was at historic lows across the board (i.e., total and for all races) before the pandemic. But I do not believe for a second that the current administration had much to do with that achievement, because there was inertia built in from the economic stimuli created by previous administrations (Obama presided over the recovery, but Bush had a hand in the initial actions, so let’s be fair). Are there any other factual things that Trump has done for African Americans?
President Trump, prior to the virus’s onset, had black unemployment down at record lows. That is what I years ago had hoped President Obama would do. But it never happened. Obama then, and Biden now, had and has other priorities.
The way to help less advantaged Americans is to provide them employment. The way to “keep them on the plantation” is to steal money from more fortunate Americans and just give it to poorer ones.
Transfer payments free nobody, and enslave many. And for Democrats, that is the whole idea.
I think you either did not see my longest paragraph or you simply ignored it. I do not question that unemployment rate was the lowest for blacks. But this does not mean that more blacks were hired (in absolute terms) during the current administration than during prior administrations. It also doesn’t mean that the unemployment rate dropped by more percentage points during this administration than during any other administrations prior (I don’t have this statistic). I’m simply pointing out that this fact alone, by itself, does not lead to the conclusion that he has done more than anybody else in terms of employment.
And “employment” alone doesn’t mean he’s “done more” than anybody else.
If we look at employment ratio instead of unemployment percent, the trajectory overall stayed about the same between Obama’s second term and 2016-2020. But for Blacks the employment growth significantly slowed from 2016-2020. In early 2020, Blacks were “lagging” by about the same amount as when Obama left office, and had not really made any relative gains whatsoever since 2016.
This Columbus Day will be, for Italian-Americans, the most empty in history. The statues are gone, and respect among many rioters and protesters for an historic and beloved figure from our past has disappeared.
But what is the real target here in a modern day sense? Well, Italian-Americans you might say. But look more deeply. Ask:
What is the predominant religion in Italy?
The anti-Columbus movement can be seen, in a modern day context, as anti-Catholic. We see this also, and quite vividly, in the objection of so many Democrats to Amy Coney Barrett.
Democrats, and others with a preference for totalitarian government, turn away from religion. Some don’t even believe in God. Catholic religious practice, for them, is as much anathema as are other moral and upright pursuits. Today destruction of Columbus is off their checklist, over and done. Tomorrow? Perhaps statues or depictions of the Virgin Mary. And later? Perhaps the cross itself.
If you’re rich and/or older and with between $5-12M in your estate, you might want to do some thinking and planning about Biden’s planned estate tax hike. This may be the last year for the extra $6-7M estate exemption.
Hearings to confirm the SCOTUS nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, a champion of traditional American values and the American Constitution as written, will commence later this morning at 9:00 am ET. The hearings will be widely televised.
Tune in to watch the Democrats, who vigorously OPPOSE traditional American values and who champion a “living Constitution”, display their zealous opposition to Judge Barrett.
Watch especially closely for the absolute nuttiness of Hawaii Senator “Crazy Mazie” Hirono. I expect Mazie’s insanity to be on full display as I understand she has received special permission to leave the asylum because of the importance of these hearings.
So you’re saying she doesn’t support the constitution, Justice, Law and Order, Freedom, or respecting the military?
I don’t believe your characterization of Barret. She can’t be that bad as you say. I assume Barret shares many beliefs with most Americans.
Even if she did reportedly live with a cult leader… (I am dismissing that as gross exaggerations and not likely to be true… although the minimal undisputed known factual details are really weird).
“Overall, on average across the nations surveyed, 83% of respondents had no confidence in Trump, 78% had no confidence in Xi, and 73% had no confidence in Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. By contrast, a majority of 76% did have confidence in Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, and 62% had a favorable opinion of France’s President Emmanuel Macron. Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson was more divisive: 48% said they did have confidence in him, against 46% who said they did not.”
This, my friends, is how stupid conspiracy theories spread on the internet.
Is Barret Catholic? I really didn’t know or care, I just know she’s some-kind-of-a-Christian nutcase who disagreed with certain important LEGAL DECISIONS because of her faith. I don’t want legal decisions to be guided by anything other than written law and reason. Judeo-Christian faith is incompatible with reason (I’m not talking about things like commandments, which have become laws, I’m talking about pure faith, following the Pope, etc). Pastafarianism, on the other hand, is totally fine. We need more Pastafarians on the courts and in government.
That’s what happens when you back out of historical agreements and unions, flip flop on the new agreements, argue with your friends, get in bed with your adversaries, and just lie all the dam time to everyone.
Yes… thousands of years of precedence from US Supreme Court rulings…
Wait, are you referring to the Supreme Court ordering Nixon to turn over the evidence? That was relevant of course last year, but the Senate refused to enforce the subpoenas.
Or are you referring to legislation like desegregation and the Equal Educational Opportunities Act of 1974???
Which of these “non traditional” things from 1974 you want to roll back?
Or maybe HSW (OSHA)?
538 today has trump at 13%, senate at 31%.
It’s nice seeing some of the uncertainty go away as time passes. Still 13% too much risk. (Obviously, risk only goes away after the election).
No time for complacency. If someone says there’s a 13% chance someone will burn your house down, few people would be comfortable…
It’s a little perplexing how some of the most egregiously crappy special interest senators seem to be polling so far ahead of Trump. Just weak polls (for Senate), or people wanting to kick out the criminal Trump but trying to intentionally split control of President and senate? (A valid logical strategy).
Example:Cornyn in TX, polling more than 10 points ahead of Trump. Debate was absurd, Cornyn just recited Trump’s failed talking points (which are all direct lies) and similar badgering with misattribution of completely false policies to the competitor.
The very notion of a seventy-eight year old beginning a term as POTUS is depraved. But when it’s Joe Biden in question, a man unable even to think straight, that depravity morphs into lunacy. Biden was unqualified years ago when his mind was far clearer than it is now. So what is happening to our country?:
Biden is quite obviously a Trojan horse candidate. His candidacy provides means for the Bernie bros, the radical AOC followers including other members of “the squad”, and diverse political forces even further to the left, to gain the power to destroy our country. Neither Bernie nor AOC could ever be elected POTUS on their own as the American people do not buy what they are selling. But with Biden as their shield a path is created for them to gain power.
Defeat of Joe Biden is an absolute necessity if America is to continue as a country where freedom and liberty reign over inevitable socialism and totalitarianism. Three weeks from today the survival of America as founded will be on the ballot.
