It wasn’t clear by Wednesday afternoon who had won the White House, but one bad idea was soundly defeated on Tuesday: identity politics. The concept that the country should be divided into aggrieved categories based on race, national origin or sex—now a core tenet of the Democratic Party—lost from coast to coast.
It lost in Miami-Dade County, Fla., where Cuban-Americans delivered votes for President Trump. We don’t know the final margin, but some polls going into the election had the president leading among Cuban-American voters by a margin as wide as 38 points. Identity politics also lost in Osceola County, near Orlando, where Mr. Trump appears to have done better than expected among Puerto Rican voters.
Identity politics lost in South Texas: Zapata County, 95% Mexican-American, went for Hillary Clinton by 33 points in 2016—but Mr. Trump won with 52.5% this time. Throughout the Rio Grande Valley, President Trump did better in 2020 than in 2016: In Starr County he lost by only five points (47% to Mr. Biden’s 52%), compared with a 60-point spread in Mrs. Clinton’s favor four years ago. In Jim Hogg County Mr. Trump lost by 18 points, down from more than 50 in 2016. In Webb County Mr. Trump won 36.6% of the vote, up from 22.8% in 2016.
Identity politics even took it on the chin in California, where voters defeated an attempt to revoke Proposition 209, the 1996 ballot measure that bans the use of race, national origin or sex by state universities and other agencies. The left has spent almost a quarter-century trying to reverse that decision, but its latest attempt lost handily.
More idealistic nonsense. “You are taking hundreds of millions of dollars out of our local economy every year for your own benefit. Please stop.” only works…well…um…yeah, that never works.

Course Trump still has to take Arizona and North Carolina, a heavy lift. Then will come Pennsylvania. That one will end up in court, if we even get to Pennsylvania.
The margins in all these races are so paper thin. It makes for a lot of nail biting on both sides.
I’m not biting anything. I’m getting fed up - I expected to see the fireworks by now. Be it looting and rioting in celebration of winning, or looting and rioting in outrage over losing, cant they just get started already and figure out why later?

We already have both Trump’s Qanon terrorists attacking government buildings to try to stop counting, and some minor protests against his rhetoric to stop counting the votes (with opportunistic rioters).
It’s all just a bunch of uncertainty at this point on both sides. I hope we have a better notion of where this is going later this evening.
It’s tough with the American mainstream media propaganda arm of the DNC doing so much of the supposedly unbiased reporting. You have to look elsewhere to learn what really is happening. Those mainstream media propagandists will cling to reporting news of a Biden win right up to inauguration day . . . if they can.
See my above for which states are the welfare queens, it’s all the rural states. The high population density states are all the giver states (places like California, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut etc). I highly suspect it’s the same at the state level. You are welcome to find stats on some proxy for spending as miles of road per person in a city vs countryside.
I’ve said right along Trump has no chance in Nevada. This could be wrong.
Apparently Harry Reid’s Nevada machine is doing everything possible to steal the election there for Biden. Reid is a known dishonest POS. He may be taking advantage of Nevada’s proximity to California to import Biden voters into Nevada. The level of corruption is very high.
So Trump might have won Nevada, but it still appears he will lose because of the cheating.
On a personal note:
Does anyone else remember what happened in 1960? That year Nixon “lost” to Kennedy. But perhaps not. Following that election Nixon steadfastly refused, for “the good of the country”, to fight Mayor Daley’s cheating Chicago machine. Republicans generally do not stand up for themselves politically, Trump being a clear and obvious exception. But how many other Republican voices do you hear even now standing up for POTUS? Not many, that is for certain!!
Can this crap stop already? A whole article bashing Trump for doing his thing, without ever mentioning what that thing is. A whole bunch of supposed “fact checking” that is irrelevant.
The whole issue is, for the lack of a better term, vote packing. Everyone wants the legally cast ballots to be counted, the whole issue is the potential for ballots that were not cast legally being added to the totals. I don’t care if you think it is or isn’t happening, but I would hope that we could all agree that votes that are invalid under the law should not be counted?
Go ahead and call it a waste of time, or something that’s highly unlikely to have happened. But don’t claim he’s trying to steal the election by looking at the integrity of the vote counting. That’s stupid, and only reinforces the perception that you are in fact trying to slip through invalid votes to pad the results.
We can hope, but I’m not holding my breath. I expect every article to include a reminder of how terrible Trump was and how Biden is fixing everything “right”.
Even when what Biden is doing is the same stuff that Trump was crucified for trying to do, because, obviously, Biden is the lovable grandpa type while Trump is Mr Burns, so now it’s all good.
Edit: Do you agree that only legally cast ballots should be counted? Or are you of the opinion that anything goes, and if there’s cheating you hope that your side has the better cheaters?
Patty, at this point Trump cant win. He’d have to spend his entire second term locked in the White House bunker, constantly under seige by the peaceful protesters chanting “not my president” while torching everything within sight. He had very little hope even with a clean election night victory, but now he’s going to be leaving the White House one way or another regardless of the final vote tally.
I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just being realistic. If you want to resume any resemblence of the life you’ve led the past decades, this is how it has to be. Preserve the nation by not “forcing” the rabblerousers to destroy it.
