The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

The culture cancellation crowd has taken their next step. The insanity has risen to a new, even higher, level, something reminiscent of Fahrenheit 451. This is from the WSJ:

Even Homer Gets Mobbed

A Massachusetts school has banned ‘The Odyssey.’

A sustained effort is under way to deny children access to literature. Under the slogan #DisruptTexts, critical-theory ideologues, schoolteachers and Twitter agitators are purging and propagandizing against classic texts—everything from Homer to F. Scott Fitzgerald to Dr. Seuss.

Their ethos holds that children shouldn’t have to read stories written in anything other than the present-day vernacular—especially those “in which racism, sexism, ableism, anti-Semitism, and other forms of hate are the norm,” as young-adult novelist Padma Venkatraman writes in School Library Journal. No author is valuable enough to spare, Ms. Venkatraman instructs: “Absolving Shakespeare of responsibility by mentioning that he lived at a time when hate-ridden sentiments prevailed, risks sending a subliminal message that academic excellence outweighs hateful rhetoric.”

The subtle complexities of literature are being reduced to the crude clanking of “intersectional” power struggles. Thus Seattle English teacher Evin Shinn tweeted in 2018 that he’d “rather die” than teach “The Scarlet Letter,” unless Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel is used to “fight against misogyny and slut-shaming.”

Outsiders got a glimpse of the intensity of the #DisruptTexts campaign recently when self-described “antiracist teacher” Lorena Germán complained that many classics were written more than 70 years ago: “Think of US society before then & the values that shaped this nation afterwards. THAT is what is in those books.”

Jessica Cluess, an author of young-adult fiction, shot back: “If you think Hawthorne was on the side of the judgmental Puritans . . . then you are an absolute idiot and should not have the title of educator in your twitter bio.”

An online horde descended, accused Ms. Cluess of racism and “violence,” and demanded that Penguin Random House cancel her contract. The publisher hasn’t complied, perhaps because Ms. Cluess tweeted a ritual self-denunciation: “I take full responsibility for my unprovoked anger toward Lorena Germán. . . . I am committed to learning more about Ms. Germán’s important work with #DisruptTexts. . . . I will strive to do better.” That didn’t stop Ms. Cluess’s literary agent, Brooks Sherman, from denouncing her “racist and unacceptable” opinions and terminating their professional relationship.

The demands for censorship appear to be getting results. “Be like Odysseus and embrace the long haul to liberation (and then take the Odyssey out of your curriculum because it’s trash),” tweeted Shea Martin in June. “Hahaha,” replied Heather Levine, an English teacher at Lawrence (Mass.) High School. “Very proud to say we got the Odyssey removed from the curriculum this year!” When I contacted Ms. Levine to confirm this, she replied that she found the inquiry “invasive.” The English Department chairman of Lawrence Public Schools, Richard Gorham, didn’t respond to emails.

“It’s a tragedy that this anti-intellectual movement of canceling the classics is gaining traction among educators and the mainstream publishing industry,” says science-fiction writer Jon Del Arroz, one of the rare industry voices to defend Ms. Cluess. “Erasing the history of great works only limits the ability of children to become literate.”

He’s right. If there is harm in classic literature, it comes from not teaching it. Students excused from reading foundational texts may imagine themselves lucky to get away with YA novels instead—that’s what the #DisruptTexts people want—but compared with their better-educated peers they will suffer a poverty of language and cultural reference. Worse, they won’t even know it.

You can track and, if you’re so unlucky to have your children subjected to, report these crazy ideological “teachings” in their schools here:

Forget the police, defund these schools!

Academe today is seriously left leaning. The rot commenced years ago at the top and has filtered down now even into K-12 instruction.

It is distressing to contemplate the many thousands of parents who have financed the destruction of their own beloved children’s minds by agreeing to send them to “colleges” which are, in reality, liberal indoctrination and re-education camps. You might as well pay big money so you can watch as your kids slowly are immolated.

The reason President Trump had to limit refugees is that entrants from Mexico were abusing the system. When Biden takes power expect to see huge “caravans” rushing the border to be admitted to the interior no questions asked. They will overwhelm the system. Biden’s people recognize that and see it as a win. Once in the country, they will be quickly registered to vote as Democrats and receive their mail ballots in the next election. From original article

The infrastructure within the government, as well as the infrastructure in the NGO community, has been very badly affected by the last four years, so we’re assessing that in order to figure out how quickly the administration can move," a transition official told reporters during a Tuesday press call.

Let us not lose sight of the strategy on the left:

They seek to disrupt and destroy, by any means possible, America’s existing order. Thus we see for example, in blue states, massive unwarranted lock downs which serve effectively to destroy foundational small businesses of all sorts. We see desire to import foreign peasants by the tens of thousands, all of whom place additional burden on our social safety net already strained beyond the breaking point with American citizens in desperate need. We see the desire to tear down and impugn our police, while supporting and defending criminal elements (antifa, MS-13, others) nationwide.

All of the aforementioned, and more, have the impact of attacking and clawing down our pre-existing, and incredibly successful, capitalist country. This the left hopes will clear the way for the socialist wonderland which burns so vividly in their imaginations. It’s a (so far) soft revolution they are attempting. So what are their chances for success?

The election in Georgia one week from today will impact their chances quite a lot. But they already have a major victory unless Biden and (especially) Harris somehow can be cast aside which, right now, appears unlikely. So I would have to observe that, at this point, the left is winning.

I won’t miss the absurd trump articles when this has-been reality tv personality fades back into the woodwork (or into a state penitentiary).

That was faster than I thought.

"The case of Philip Esformes, who was convicted last year in what federal prosecutors termed “the largest healthcare fraud scheme ever charged by the Department of Justice.”

Esformes’ crimes involved $1.3 billion in fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid for services at his network of nursing and assisted living facilities in Florida. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison on 20 felony counts. Noting that the charges on which he was found guilty carried combined maximum sentences of 255 years, prosecutors had asked for 30 years.

This was not one criminal act, but hundreds of choices to break the law, even thousands, for more than a decade.

Federal prosecutors, U.S.A. v Esformes

Esformes, 52, served a bit less than 4 1/2 years. Now, thanks to Trump, he’s a free man."

$1.3 billion in fraudulent Medicare claims over decades. Biggest known scam in Medicare history. Stealing from the government. Trump pardons him.

If only Bernie Madoff had been stealing from the government, Trump would pardon him, too.

“During the Obama administration, cases of misconduct among border officers dropped steadily. But since 2017, when Trump took office, cases have reached a five-year high, according to a recent internal Customs and Border Patrol report.”

Get $2k and rework the tech Sec 230 immunity so they stop censoring people (or are responsible for it if they do) - what’s not to like?

Mind you I don’t expect anything to pass before the GA election is done, and this is just posturing by both sides and let the little guy, who might need the $2k, wait because who cares about the little guy? Not our Congress, clearly.

Lel. $150k income household of 5 really needs $10k.

People who lost their income need a lot more than $2k… The rest need to not be looking for handouts. Crazy how many socialists there are looking for handouts.

“Stimulus” checks aren’t needed. Relief is.

Remember Trump being soft on Russia when they were putting bounties on the heads of US forces abroad? Turns out there was some truth to that… just it was China, not Russia.

So Trump was right calling it fake news then after all. We’ll see how much of a hard line The Big Guy will take on China.
