The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

I think you and I are not that far apart. You got me wrong, I do think there needs to be compromise. My position is that it should be legal, because making it illegal is worse (people will go out of their way and put themselves in unnecessary danger to make it happen if they really had to), and because we agree that women should not be forced to carry to term. And that abortion should be extremely rare, because we all want to live. The exceptions everyone talks about make sense to me (like rape and life of the mother). For questions that ethicists and philosophers will debate until the end of time, such as aborting fetuses with genetic disorders or other diseases that will impact their quality of life and as a result create an undue burden on their family and society, the decision should be left to the parents. I’m not really opposed to better education of women regarding the responsibility (I am opposed to educating abstinence as a solution, since it’s stupid and has been proven to not work), and I’d argue that more resources should be made available in addition to this education, like free contraception, free health screenings, and other, needs-based financial support for expecting and new mothers.

At the early stages with just a bunch of cells dividing and forming shapes, my opinion is that it’s not yet a human and its rights are not separate from the mother. At the later stages it is, but I don’t have enough science or medicine background to determine when that happens. I’m also of the opinion that as difficult as it may be, men should stay out of this debate entirely – it should be decided by women and OBGYNs.

Bolton always was a little kooky. Just look at the spinach growing in plain sight on his face. Now he is attempting to profit personally from a well-timed hit piece on POTUS.

When you’re at the top the little people always are gunning for you. And now everyone realizes exactly how diminutive Bolton really is!

"
“We’ve concluded at the time that Mr. Brooks was shot that he did not pose an immediate threat of death,” Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said.

Howard also said that rather than provide timely medical attention to Brooks after the shooting, as required by city policy, Rolfe kicked Brooks as he lay on the ground and Brosnan stood on the dying man’s shoulder.
"
Also, context, highlighting the systemic problems

"Judge Doris L Downs, during a 2016 court hearing, called the case a “disaster” and said “it’s the wildest case I’ve seen in my 34 years here.”

Downs said she was so troubled by officers failing to report the shooting that she wanted the matter investigated.

“None of the police put in the report that they shot the man – none of them. And they sent him to Grady [Memorial Hospital] with collapsed lungs and everything, and the report doesn’t mention it,” Downs said.

“I am ethically going to be required to turn all of them in.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it did not investigate the shooting, according to a spokesperson.

You didn’t say what was disgusting. I guess you meant Bolton talking about it was disgusting. So you think Trump asking a foreign power and a frequent adversary to interfere in our elections is all fine and dandy? And you call me obscene?

You righties. You’ll never change. Misinformed and corrupted to the core. Don’t you just love them!! :hotsprings:

You’re going to prison now. That’s classified highly classified information!

The image of him looking like a pouting baby is most appropriate

It pains me severely to agree with anything you write; it is all such BS. But here we have an exception. I could have written that myself.

Trump ran the Trump Organization wherein he alone was able to provide a sufficiency of leadership and make all the decisions if necessary. And he accomplished a lot that way, with that approach.

But Trump is learning VERY late that the US Government is too big for him to operate alone. He is finding out he needs to rely on other people he can trust to get the job done. And Trump, when he came into office, did not have at the ready the requisite cadre of trusted people.

I will reiterate the comparison with President Reagan, who was successful. Reagan served two terms as Governor of California before becoming POTUS. California was his boot camp, his learning experience where government is concerned. With Trump we see what happens when you try to skip boot camp.

Reminds me of several executive managers I’ve had as bosses in my career. They were successful at managing and controlling small teams. Once they were promoted to an executive position responsible for an entire department of thousands of people, they didn’t perform that well. It’s one thing to be the one and only top honcho in your own, personal company, and another to be the president.
