Greenwald on the sleazy leftists that pass for journalists these days at most of the major media companies. Names and ethical breaches named, no punches pulled. There’s a reason journalists these days are vying with politicians and used car salesmen for the bottom of the trustworthiness barrel.
A new and rapidly growing journalistic “beat” has arisen over the last several years that can best be described as an unholy mix of junior high hall-monitor tattling and Stasi-like citizen surveillance. It is half adolescent and half malevolent. Its primary objectives are control, censorship, and the destruction of reputations for fun and power. Though its epicenter is the largest corporate media outlets, it is the very antithesis of journalism.
I’ve written before about one particularly toxic strain of this authoritarian “reporting.” Teams of journalists at three of the most influential corporate media outlets — CNN ’s “media reporters” (Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy), NBC ’s “disinformation space unit” (Ben Collins and Brandy Zadrozny), and the tech reporters of The New York Times (Mike Isaac, Kevin Roose, Sheera Frenkel) — devote the bulk of their “journalism” to searching for online spaces where they believe speech and conduct rules are being violated, flagging them, and then pleading that punitive action be taken (banning, censorship, content regulation, after-school detention). These hall-monitor reporters are a major factor explaining why tech monopolies, which (for reasons of self-interest and ideology) never wanted the responsibility to censor, now do so with abandon and seemingly arbitrary blunt force: they are shamed by the world’s loudest media companies when they do not.
Here are a few to add to your NYT blacklist - Marc Santora, Megan Specia and Mike Baker, although honestly just write off the whole paper at this point. These propagandists invented the story of the cop being killed by Trump supporters at the Capitol Hill protest and only finally retracted it a month later. “Fake news” indeed.
He was not hit by anything, certainly not the supposed fire extinguisher, and was fine later that evening. He subsequently died of a stroke, but whether that was from anything to do with his work or not is unproven and highly speculative at this point.
Just goes to show the NYT knows the story they want and invent anonymous sources to run with it regardless of the truth.
The “corrections”, to the extent they really did have anonymous officials saying he was hit with something that never happened (odd), were available a day or two after his death and that’s a month ago. Funny how they didn’t bother to correct their “Murder!” story used as the sole evidence cited in the impeachment until after that farce failed.
Agreed. But this is what liberals do. Fact is Texas lost use of a huge proportion of their unreliable wind turbine capacity placing an overload on their remaining sources of power. But it is always important, pattyb53, to look deeper and ask this question:
Why are blackouts, or other such negative events happening to average American people, just fine with liberal socialists?
The answer is that such things contribute to the chaos and hasten the disruption they seek of the (by them hated) established order. Never let a crisis go to waste is their mantra.
Biden, their current leader, has a saying: “Build back better”
What Biden actually means is: “Destroy then build back socialist”
Democrat socialist wannabes welcome American human misery. In their opinion Americans have had things too good for far too long, while people elsewhere are hurting. Why, they ask, should America be so favored? It simply, to their socialist minds, is not fair. Everyone, to their way of thinking, should have the same.
So for them promulgation of unreliable wind turbines, and the consequent blackouts, are big wins. The people of Texas are finally experiencing the sort of misery widespread in much of the world. This, to socialists, is part of an essential educational process which they want to impose on Americans at all costs.
Texas right now is no better off than many third world countries. And if the Democrat socialists are not stopped, the remainder of America will be similarly transformed just as soon as their plans for us come to fruition.
I know you’re going to be surprised by this, but Texas both runs their own power grid which is separate from the national grid and has an organization responsible for system reliability: Electric Reliability Council of Texas - Wikipedia
and that organization is directly under the Public Utility Commission of Texas, whose leadership is directly appointed by the Governor of Texas.

Sure. Because liberal mainstream media sources will never report anything whatsoever negative regarding wind or solar even if, especially if, such reports happen to be TRUE!!
The small amount of wind generation that was offline is a small portion of the generation capacity that is down… so, no, it’s competely false and misleading to blame the issue on a few turbines that were improperly maintained.
Wind was never reasonable or planned for a majority of capacity, it’s only an incremental amount. Wind was temporarily the cheapest of all capacity to build, that’s why TX added a chunk of it.
Solar is the cheapest of all power generation sources to build now.
