Everyone being so harsh on Cruz
Hey man, don’t diss Ted Cruz, he gave out at least two packs of water in an empty parking lot.

That was probably water AOC brought.
Dog was probably wearing a tan suit. I bet it likes spicy mustard.
“As Houston Public Media reports, the money will go toward several organizations, including the Houston Food Bank, Family Eldercare, Feeding Texas and the Bridge Homeless Recovery Center. But charity itself, while helpful, doesn’t replace the need for policies that prevent power grids from failing in the future, Ocasio-Cortez said.”

"“My savings is gone,” said Scott Willoughby, a 63-year-old Army veteran who lives on Social Security payments in a Dallas suburb. He said he had nearly emptied his savings account so that he would be able to pay the $16,752 electric bill charged to his credit card — 70 times what he usually pays for all of his utilities combined. “There’s nothing I can do about it, but it’s broken me.”
"The steep electric bills in Texas are in part a result of the state’s uniquely unregulated energy market, which allows customers to pick their electricity providers among about 220 retailers in an entirely market-driven system.
Under some of the plans, when demand increases, prices rise. The goal, architects of the system say, is to balance the market by encouraging consumers to reduce their usage and power suppliers to create more electricity.
But when last week’s crisis hit and power systems faltered, the state’s Public Utilities Commission ordered that the price cap be raised to its maximum limit of $9 per kilowatt-hour, easily pushing many customers’ daily electric costs above $100. And in some cases, like Willoughby’s, bills rose by more than 50 times the normal cost."
I suspect most people outside of Texas are happy that they live in areas where utilities are more tightly regulated.
$9 per kwH pushes some hourly over $100, not daily. (Like resistive heat, 10kW is a pretty small resistive auxillary heat, is $90 per hour at $9000/MWh)
There were 4 or so days where the wholesale price was 9000.
It looks like wholesale rates are negative ~$30/MWh all day today. We get negative prices from Wind or when Natural Gas prices go negative.

Saint Regan legalized illegals. And forbid hospitals from denying illegals service. And the Supreme Court under him said schools had to educate their kids.
The whole ‘omg hate crimes against asians, but omg illegals!’ is just more posturing by Republicans who didn’t learn any history. The exact same omg illegals stuff was used against chinese immigrants, and the laws of the time made it open season for attacks against them. They’re going to be doing the same thing again in 2150 when the martians show up or something.
" Last March, Sivley was in a bad car accident, which nearly took his life. He shattered his pelvic bone, and today he can only walk for about two hours a day, but driving is no problem."
Bet you were not following politics back then. I was:
President Reagan got scammed by the Democrats. Simpson-Mazzoli is a well recognized fraud. Reagan was promised the open door for illegals would be closed if he signed the bill. So he signed. But the door was never closed. The Democrats saw to that. Ever since Republicans have been hesitant to sign up for similar deals proposed by those same dishonest Democrats.
To be fair, filthy, despicable, Chamber of Commerce Republicans joined with Democrats to pull off the Simpson-Mazzoli cheat, which is ongoing even now.
For the record:
Ronald Reagan was POTUS back then. Don Regan was his Chief of Staff. It was Reagan who signed Simpson-Mazzoli, not Regan.
Pursuant somewhat to my most recent post, just above:
In the proposed legislation unveiled earlier this week by Senator Bob Menendez (D - NJ), amnesty and citizenship would be given to 900,000 criminal illegals deported during the Trump administration. Biden is totally on board with this measure.
The US Citizenship Act would give illegal aliens a pathway to citizenship, but it even includes illegals with multiple criminal convictions and even illegal aliens who have already been deported! That’s right: the Democrats’ amnesty plan would take illegal aliens who have already been deported and welcome back into the country to put them on a fast track for citizenship!
Except they wouldn’t be called illegal aliens, anymore. The very first section of the bill would rewrite the US Code and replace any mention of “alien” with “non-citizen.” Apparently, that is more inclusive and won’t hurt as many illegal aliens’ feelings…
The U.S. Citizenship Act would also take Obama’s amnesty promises to a new level. Now, illegal aliens with up to three misdemeanor convictions will automatically qualify for amnesty and citizenship and any illegal who committed more crimes than that would be allowed to apply for a waiver. Of course, the bill ensures that any crime connected to illegal entry would not be counted against them. The three-misdemeanor limit would only apply to crimes committed once inside the United States. There is an exception to all of this, though. The Federal Government would also receive the power to give American citizenship to illegal aliens with felony or 4+ misdemeanor convictions, as long as it is "for humanitarian purposes, family unity, or if otherwise in the public interest."
Yes, that is a direct quote… Illegal aliens with felony convictions can be given American citizenship if Democrats believe it would be “in the public interest.” That is how twisted the Left is!
But amazingly, it gets worse… Under the Trump administration, more than 900,000 illegal aliens with criminal records were deported from the United States. The bill Democrats just unveiled would welcome them all back in and put them on “probation” so they could work towards becoming American citizens. It would be like the Trump Presidency never even happened…
Apparently there aren’t enough illegal alien criminals living here already, Democrats want to import the ones we already deported… Any illegal alien deported before the passage of this bill would be eligible to come back and apply for a pathway to citizenship.
And to put the icing on the proverbial cake, the U.S. Citizenship Act would also order the Department of Homeland Security to invest in “community programs” that can serve as “alternatives to detention.” So, when more illegal aliens cross the border in search of amnesty – which they will – they wouldn’t go into detention at all. They would just be released into the interior.
I want to conclude this post by once again thanking the foolish, shallow people who voted for Biden because they could not stand Trump’s personality. Your boy has only been in office one month!! He is just getting started.
unpossible, Republican’s have said that Saint Reagan is infallible, therefor he could not have been tricked by Democrats.
/and oh no I misspelled the saint’s name!
"It takes many people by surprise. This whole history has been forgotten. It used to be well-known. There was nothing hidden about it. The federal government pursued two important policies in the mid-20th century that segregated metropolitan areas. One was the first civilian public housing program which frequently demolished integrated neighborhoods in order to create segregated public housing.
The second program that the federal government pursued was to subsidize the development of suburbs on a condition that they be only sold to white families and that the homes in those suburbs had deeds that prohibited resale to African-Americans. These two policies worked together to segregate metropolitan areas in ways that they otherwise would never have been segregated."
"In the “Color of Law”, Richard Rothstein shows that the use of discriminatory residential practices in the US, including ‘racially’ zoned housing areas, restrictive covenants, the creation of fear of loss of property values and at times violence have been in effect from the reconstruction period in the late 19th Century and continued into 21st Century. These practices have disproportionately affected African Americans, keeping their communities poor and leading to the creation of segregated neighbourhoods, where none previously existed.
The most disconcerting thing about this is that the policies have been supported by the state and federal government [and municipal and county governments]. Not just in the Southern States, but throughout the US. Also, whilst these ‘racial’ discriminatory practices are no longer openly applied, their effects have carried over into the lives of the children, grandchildren, and other generations of African American families, also keeping them in poverty.
This is another excellent and well-researched history of discriminatory practices in the US, showing that despite the idea of the “American Dream”, where anyone can achieve whatever they want, inequality has been and continues to be a feature of US society."
You are probably too young to know that President Reagan was disliked by a significant percentage of Republicans. I can be more specific:
When Reagan walked out on Gorby at Reykjavik, a great many Republicans lost their minds (along with almost all Democrats). But Reagan was smarter than all of them. He managed to end the cold war without firing a shot, and the Soviet Union was no more.
I see you’ve forgotten your history, Reagan has basically been made a Republican saint.
Not true.
In 1988 we all voted for George H. W. Bush, Reagan’s VP, in hope of having a third Reagan term. Reagan had been that good. Bush of course concealed his actual feelings and beliefs in order to win us over. Only after Bush won the election did it come out that he was NO Reagan. He was instead well to President Reagan’s left. G.H.W. Bush fed us that “read my lips” lie, which was believed by many of us, myself included. But his lie was revealed and Bill Clinton won in 1992.
No Bush ever measured up to Ronald Wilson Reagan. Only Trump has come close.
Kamal said: “Reagan has basically been made a Republican saint.”
Shinobi said: “In 1988 we all voted for George H. W. Bush, Reagan’s VP, in hope of having a third Reagan term. Reagan had been that good…No Bush ever measured up to Ronald Wilson Reagan”
So yeah, Republican Saint Reagan according to you, which is exactly what I said.
