He’s fine with taking money from non-Texans to pay Texas utilities, instead of simply changing the regulations. The utilities don’t need the money. Why not take the money from them (the utilities)? If they refuse, institute a special tax on utilities to pay for it.
They are so big on Texas energy independence except when they can’t handle it. Then they want others to pay for it.

To be clear, this is one of the municipal utilities (opt out/grandfathered of the dereg). They have generation and sell at fixed price. Customer bills will be $0.12/KWh this month. But they evidently had to buy some poer at $9k/MWh too, so they will have to pay for it over time.

I do not anticipate you will agree with anything I write . . . and that is OK. It is fine. But you should try to understand the politics on the other side, which is strictly an INTRA-party thing and not a comment, or an attack, on your beliefs. Start with this:
I am not a Republican. I am a Conservative.
In recent times, with the exception of Presidents Reagan and Trump, I have been forced to vote for candidates who did not represent my views. These candidates happened to be Republicans far too left wing for my taste.
Try to understand that, for many Republicans, both Reagan and Trump were not/are not welcome as their party’s standard bearer. The lesson for you is that there is a serious split in what you erroneously view as the monolithic “Republican Party”. Since you’re on the other side, let me try to explain this way:
If you dislike Republicans, you should make special effort to dislike people like me much more. They are far closer to your political positions than I am. That’s why I detest them.
So finally
President Reagan was on my side. Thus many Republicans did not find him at all acceptable. I hope this helps you better to understand your opposition. You have far less to be concerned about with Republican squishes than you do with Conservative people like myself.
