The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

Key Biden aide, Anita Dunn, admits the pandemic was the best thing that ever happened to him

As many of us have known all along, it was the pandemic which defeated Donald Trump

A senior adviser to Democrat Joe Biden in his campaign for president believed “Covid is the best thing that ever happened to him”, a new book reports.

It was, the authors add, a necessarily private comment that “campaign officials believed but would never say in public” as the US reeled from the impact of the pandemic amid hospitals stretched to breaking and with deaths mounting and the economy falling off a cliff.

The remark, made to “an associate” by Anita Dunn, a Washington powerbroker who the Atlantic called “The Mastermind Behind Biden’s No-Drama Approach to Trump”, is reported in Lucky: How Joe Biden Barely Won the Presidency, by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes.

The first major book on the 2020 election, a campaign indelibly marked by the coronavirus, will be published next week. The Guardian obtained a copy.

This week, President Biden commemorated the 500,000th US Covid death with solemn ceremony and a request that Americans “remember those we lost and those we left behind”.

Allen and Parnes, of NBC News and The Hill, also collaborated on Shattered, a similarly speedy history of Hillary Clinton’s White House run in 2016. In their new book they record Biden’s view of his predecessor in her defeat by Trump – he thought her a “terrible candidate” – and the views of Barack Obama, whom Biden served as vice-president from 2009 to 2017, as the 2020 campaign unfolded.

Obama first “seemed to be enamored with a former Texas congressman, Beto O’Rourke”, Allen and Parnes write, then later told Biden’s aides he feared his friend, aged 77 when the primary began, would only succeed in embarrassing himself and tarnishing a distinguished Washington career.

But Dunn’s reported comment points to what became the dominant theme of the election. As the pandemic capsized Trump along with the economy Biden, through a much more cautious approach to campaigning and basic public health concerns, appealed to voters as the right man to manage a recovery.

Trump sought to hammer Biden for “hiding in his basement” – a reference to Biden’s decision to rarely leave home in Wilmington, Delaware, instead campaigning virtually while the president held rallies and ignored public health guidelines. But such attacks did not hit home.

Though “both Trump and Biden were comfortable with the stylistic and substantive contrasts of their … responses to the coronavirus”, Allen and Parnes write, “Trump led loudly, Biden calmly said Trump misled”.

Like many members of his family and inner circle, Trump contracted the virus. He was reportedly more seriously ill than was publicly admitted. Biden stayed healthy and won the electoral college 306-232 and the popular vote by more than 7m.

Dunn, 63, is a veteran of six Democratic campaigns and three winning ones, having worked for Obama in 2008 and 2012. She has not taken a role in the Biden administration and according to her own consulting firm, SKDK, is “currently on leave … expected to return later this year”.

According to the profile published by the Atlantic in the immediate aftermath of Biden’s win in November, Dunn “came of age in the time when aides were neither seen nor heard … and still values discretion above almost all else”.

Did Biden have his say on being this disloyal to American women? Or is he just a pawn for Democrats wanting to make changes.?

I played tennis in high school, a pretty fair player. Looking back at our girls team, I doubt that any (or very few) would have made the girls team if they were forced to compete against transgender girls (men).

Oh, of course he just got it from infowars.

Very likely. The US national women’s soccer team was scrimmaging against the good local high school men’s team for practice. The guys often won, as they did in this case.

Biology is hard to beat - men on average are bigger, stronger, faster, and all the moreso compared to women when you start picking the high end of the distribution (ie players selected because they were good). Of course that’s not to say women shouldn’t play sports for fun, either in single sex or mixed teams, but it very much makes sense for the competitive framework to be structured fairly and not in some dumb way to accommodate 0.0001% of the mentally-confused-about-their-gender population.

There’s a reason no one cares if women want to compete in men’s sports - in all but a handful of exceptional individual cases, they’re not a threat in the same way any random guy who works out could probably make the girls team in any physical sport.

I’m still waiting for the next woke crusade for equal pay for women’s NBA vs men’s NBA. Surely they deserve equality right? Take a bunch of money from LeBron and give it to the ladies.

You’re a little late on that one.

Haven’t all many of the cheerleading squad shut down since they were basically volunteer labor and tried to collective bargain?

Just cancel culture. Nothing to see here, move along.

“…employees sheltered congressional staff in their shops to protect them from the roving mob,” Blanton said, adding, “other members of our team raced to the roof to reverse the airflows within the building to help clear the air of chemical irritants, like bear repellents and pepper spray, while more team members rushed bottles of water and eye wash stations to Capitol Police officers in need of assistance.”

When the mob thronged the Capitol, the Architect of the Capitol’s painters and artisans were laboring to complete the massive task of readying the campus to host a presidential inauguration.

“Over the course of a couple of hours, the hard work of our team was destroyed,” Blanton said.

“The [Inauguration] platform was wrecked, there was broken glass and other debris, sound systems and photography equipment was damaged beyond repair or stolen, two historic Olmsted lanterns were ripped from the ground, and the wet blue paint was tracked all over the historic stone balustrades and Capitol Building hallways.”"

Biden immigration policy’s latest - canceling Trump policies regardless. Undocumented non-citizen convicted sex offenders lives matter!

“If the United States will not remove even convicted sex offenders, whom will it remove?”

Under this Postmaster, the mail delivery has been the worst it’s ever been and he is trying to make it even worse. He revealed his true colors: He doesn’t care.

Biden is behaving true to type. Consider the matter from his standpoint. It’s a twofer:

First, by encouraging the onslaught of poor foreigners he is laying the predicate for Democrat control in perpetuity. You must cast aside the old model of the USA having two political parties which roughly alternate being in power. That was then, this is now.

Think of Cuba, or communist China, or even North Korea. That is the new model, the Democrat model. They want power, and control, and they want that power going forward without any annoying interruptions.

Second, an added benefit to Democrats of all the illegal migrants is disruption of the existing order. We have to support those people, educate them, protect them, give them free medical services, and so forth, all at the expense of a bankrupt, pandemic ridden nation. Further, those migrants when they do work take jobs from the poorest people among us, American citizens who are disadvantaged and who deserve to be uplifted. Large numbers of poor Americans are a boon for Democrats; keep 'em poor and you keep 'em Democrat.

Just think how destructive of Democrat hopes it was when, pre pandemic, President Trump was able to reduce black and Hispanic unemployment down to the historic low of 3.5%. This was a Democrat catastrophe. Trump was offering our most disadvantaged citizens a job, and with that came real hope for the future, self reliance, and self respect. Self reliant people do not need Democrat “programs”. Of course now, back in control, Democrats are bringing in foreigners to steal away those same jobs needed by our own, and keeping poor Americans downtrodden.

Rely on Biden to do whatever is necessary to bring about a one-party America based on socialism. That is the Democrat goal and is also Biden’s personal goal.

"…new report says consumers in the state have been overpaying for power since 2004, when Texas began deregulating its industries and shifted away from full-service regulated utilities for the vast majority of residents.

Instead, many opted to pay spot prices for electricity rather than the traditional fixed rates — causing some bills to surge as demand increased during the unprecedented weather emergency last week.

After Texas moved away from a regulated energy market, the Wall Street Journal reported consumers paid $28 billion more for power than they would have under traditional rates. What’s more, experts now say that rollback of regulations led to the failures in the state’s majority-independent power system seen during the weather crisis, which included rolling blackouts for millions of residents."

The wealthy corporations and political leaders of Texas are against regulation and for “independence” because it allows them to make billions of dollars more from fleeced Texas consumers. For those against regulations, I’ve never heard a consumer in the 49 regulated states complain about having to pay less than Texans.

When I was young I happily worked for below minimum wage, collecting $60/week and BOY was I happy to get that kind of money. The work was six days/week for ten hours/day, though only nine hours on Sunday. I had to sweep floors, move and deliver heavy appliances, unload trucks, and do all sorts of other stuff. No matter. I was just happy to have a job . . . any job . . . because I needed the money.

A few years later I was able to move on to a day job that paid me just over $100/week, a damn fortune! But it was only five days per week so I went back to my first boss and requested he hire me to work Sundays. He did, and I was thereby able to earn even MORE money!

You might reasonably ask why I was not working seven days/week. The answer is simple: I was lazy. I wanted, and I enjoyed, the one day each week I had off.

Just to make things clear:

"…the 60 percent of Texans required to buy their electricity from retail power companies, not local utilities, were already getting a lousy deal, The Wall Street Journal reports.

“Those deregulated Texas residential consumers paid $28 billion more for their power since 2004 than they would have paid at the rates charged to the customers of the state’s traditional utilities,”

"“From 2004 through 2019, the annual rate for electricity from Texas’ traditional utilities was 8 percent lower, on average, than the nationwide average rate, while the rates of retail providers averaged 13 percent higher than the nationwide rate.”

The corporations and the politicians getting their contributions are making big, big money on Texas “independence” off the backs of the average Texan required to buy from retail companies.

Energy “independence” rates 13 percent higher on average than the nationwide rate for the last 17 years in Texas. Ha! So these retail companies were raking in money hand over fist which enabled them to vastly outpay traditional utilities in political contributions.

And all this time, the last 17 years, these retail companies have successfully advertised that Texans are getting great rates. Think what a great boost to the economy it would have been if they hadn’t been overcharging most of Texas!

The difference in rates over 17 years was 21%!

Don’t worry, by rule of GQP, Trump did that.
