Beside the substance and policy focus which is pretty obvious, I wonder what tone he thought would improve polling from independents. Is it due to concern for poor polling having trickle down effect for other races?
But he makes a good point that Biden is basically out of the news so doesn’t have a chance to shoot himself in the foot. LOL
So that 6 block area (which is now 3 blocks?) contains all 33,000 residents and “countless visitors” that produced that “one violent crime every day” average in 2018?
Google says the Capital Hill region (that had one violent crime every day) is 1.64 square miles - or roughly 650 blocks. Being 1% of the area would attribute 4 violent crimes per year to the CHAZ area. 1 every 8 days, which equates to 45 per year, is in fact an increase of 1,000% - which I think any reasonable person would agree counts as an “explosion”.
I didn’t know you could run for office at such young age. I know for president you need to be at least 35.
Anyway, surprising people would support somebody with such limited experience.
Did you forget the part where they set Flynn up and threatened his son? Prosecutorial BS is what it was, all done by Comey at the behest of Biden and Obama.
The eventual winner used to be on Mr. Meadows’ staff!
Meadows probably thought he was too young, not that his ideology was somehow askew. The kid is an absolute straight arrow and he will be a great Congressman.
I can only hazard a guess. I suspect Trump followed Meadows’ lead on this one, and Meadows probably thought the kid was too young. After all, he knows both contestants well.
You can run. But you must be at least twenty-five years of age to serve in Congress. This young man will turn twenty-five month after next, in August. So he will be able to serve at time he is sworn in.
Democratic senator doesn’t understand why he’s such a privileged racist to deserve this. One minute he’s taking pictures of peaceful protestors, next minute he’s on the ground getting kicked in the head.
”This has got to stop before someone gets killed,” he wrote. “Sad thing I’m on their side for peaceful demonstrations — am a Gay Progressive Dem Senator served 36 years in the legislature.”
Protesters also decapitated a statue… of a Norwegian immigrant who fought with the Union against the Confederacy and died in battle. Somebody needs to do a little reading and get some knowledge between their ears.
Remarking here now about decision by the Democrats not to convene:
I sense their intent to draw a bright line between themselves and the Republicans . . Trump in particular. They (the Democrats) are the party that takes the virus seriously. The Republicans, in stark contrast, do NOT, and as such are placing American lives at risk all across this great country! (could not resist adding that little flourish )
It’s an interesting gambit in my view, one which I think might be more likely than not to garner additional Democrat votes in November.
I continue to believe Trump is running more against the virus and the press than he is against Biden. The press he can handle. The virus? I’m less certain.
Yes, that beloved “Republican” princess, Carly Fiorina, has shocked the world with her announcement of support for Joe Biden. It did not help that Trump once commented on her, uh, appearance in an unflattering manner.
Women do not forgive or forget such as that.
Once again Trump’s 1960’s Queens street manners rise up to bite him in the ass.
I can understand her hate for Trump, but a vote for Biden… She is a Republican! These turncoats love to make their dislikes known.
There are still a few fellow Republican candidates in older days that Trump lambasted. They came around, like Cruz, Rubio, etc. It’s life & why can’t Republicans stay tough & stick together.
At this point, I think we’ve clearly ascertained that most of these statue defilings are purely wanton destruction of public property without any particular protest or political meaning. They are not interested in knowledge of what they are destroying. To do that, they’d first need to have a functioning brain between their ears but that empty space has been washed cleaned long ago.
The genuine ones are able to accomplish that. But liberal “Republicans” are unable. Liberal “Republicans” are Democrats without the courage to admit they have been infected with that disease.
I’m not sure what it is but I could see two reasons. First, they may like to justify their decision to others. Especially if you take a tough decision that goes against what you’re always done, that may be a coping mechanism too.
Other reason is they may be hoping to influence others into doing the same. There is definitely a crowd mentality effect. If you’re breaking ranks by yourself, you’re an easy lonely target. If it’s you and a bunch of others, then it’s not just about you any more. And considering how vindictive Trump is with defectors, that’s not too surprising to want some flock around you. Getting others to defect also somewhat validates their decision more. It’s not just them making the decision. A bit like when you see a good deal posted. If you think it’s a good deal, it’s one thing. If you see hundreds of others jump on the deal, then it confirms your decision.
No. There is ample political meaning. These people are anarchists seeking, in all ways possible and in any manner allowed, to rend, to tear down, and to destroy the existing order. They are smart and are following a long established Marxist playbook. They know so long as the existing order remains standing it will be impossible for them to promulgate their preferred ideology.
These people piggyback on completely legitimate and valid demonstrations, such as those which followed Mr. Floyd’s horrible torture and murder, in effort to hijack those expressions of outrage and redefine them to suit their Marxist purposes.
I’m not so sure there is deeper political planning behind those.
Anything like that which undercut the valid points of other protests seems counter productive. It turns people who were sympathetic to the protests into people thinking that this is just idiots looking for mischief and de-legitimizes by association the other legitimate protests. Eventually, enough in the public will be turned against all protests that they will stop showing up at valid demonstrations and support government intervention to restore order. At which point, you’ve achieved the exact opposite which would be to amplify negative public opinion and protest size.
No, I think it just reveal that some idiots are frustrated at not having any easy targets left and just go randomly after anything they can get to in order to vent their frustration.
You can ascertain whatever you want, but where is the data to back up this conclusion? There’s definitely been more than a few very questionable incidents (heavily covered by the media, despite claims above that they won’t report on them).
Where is the data you’re referencing to make your conclusion? Where is the list you are looking at with the total number of incidences and concluding that the racist statues make up less than half of those being vandalized or otherwise voluntarily removed???
Most of the instances are not national news, you’ll only see in the national news anything in a widely known place or the outlier events.
I haven’t looked for or found comprehensive data to make a similar claim either way, myself.
