SPLC was in bed with the Nazis and KKK, literally.
It wasn’t just that the SPLC was using these informants. One SPLC member had an ongoing “romantic relationship” with a high-ranking member of the National Alliance, a neo-Nazi organization. In total, this informant was paid over $1.2 million over the course of 20 years. Conveniently, the SPLC employee with whom he was carrying on a romantic relationship - living together, sharing bank accounts - “oversaw the payment of donors’ money” to this Neo-Nazi informant.
… allegedly engaged in activities including recruiting new members and purchasing materials for cross burnings and Ku Klux Klan robes and hoods.
