The 2024 election politics

Um… I honestly do not know how to respond to that. So you now admit there is nothing wrong with ranked choice, and the real problem is you think people are just too stupid and lazy to use it effectively?

If this was the standard used throughout history, we wouldnt have cars, computers, phones, or a slew of other things that nobody understood when first introduced.

Whoa! Are you suggesting a mental competency test for President voting? Just be careful, as you may be called a racist, homophobe, anti-alphabet nazi.

Just a Civics test. Similar to the citizenship test or passing a civics course in school.

Have you considered whether you may be underestimating the average voter’s intelligence? Or overestimating this board’s members’?

Sure, RCV doesn’t work very well ON-PAPER when there are too many choices. It needs to be limited somehow. It should work just fine on a computer. You’re also never required to rank ALL the answers, you just rank as few or as many as you want. If you left some blanks and none of your choices made the cut, then it’s equivalent of not casting a vote in a runoff. Selecting the same candidate as your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice makes no sense, since if he’s eliminated in the 1st round, he won’t be in the 2nd, but it’s not necessary to disqualify that ballot IMO.

Uh oh! You and @scripta are starting to fit that old trope that Democrats repeat ad infinitum about Republicans. Be careful.

wow! Trump probably made money during campaign:

Uh, I guess that’s one take on it. I think he he had a hunch opinion, paid for testing/education, and then acted on his hunch and education. He took a big risk, knowing that President Biden would not forgive his education costs.

hmmm is stuttering kicking in like Biden?

arthritis, dyslexia, bad lighting, lazy keyboard, … more excuses in the bank if you want them.

Bite your tongue!

So you want to require that voters be literate? That will rule out a portion of the Democrat voter base, and a majority in Chicago. as the dead can’t read/write … even in zombie movies. :

Shouldnt these paid endorsements performances need to be disclosed upfront?

That said, I could see volunteering to perform being characterized as an illegal campaign contribution. These are professionals who collect a substantial fee for performing. Doing it for free is effectively donating that standard fee to the campaign.

Impossible. Walking 'round money keeps the number low.

I am not a fan of ranked choice voting because:

  1. I want to know which candidates are available from which to choose.

As of Nov. 11, current tally is 71.25 million for Harris, and 74.84 million for Trump. It seems Trump got about as many votes as in 2020, or 12 million more than in 2016. Kamala got about 6 million more votes than Hillary.

It lists which candidates are available, like any other ballot?

Rank choice or open primaries will get us moderate choices. Not lesser evil

Meanwhile Dems want their DEI president no matter what https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4983221-former-harris-aide-calls-for-biden-to-resign-so-she-can-be-president-briefly/

So it was a turnout election (results not what Sanders preached about high turn out though)
Curious how many less than BIden % wise?

DEI VP with DEI advisors. Still can’t understand the nation isn’t about their precious race and gender pet projects.

DDHQ projects that Republicans will retain US House majority

WASHINGTON, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Data provider DDHQ projected on Monday that President-elect Donald Trump’s Republican Party had won a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, which would signal that Republicans would hold a majority in both chambers of Congress.

This is likely more to do with 30 (!) candidates for mayor than with the RCV system. Who the hell has the time to read all those candidate statements? Maybe they need to make it more difficult to get on the ballot.

All those candidates are a consequence of RCV itself.
