Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts

My idle cash in investment accounts is earning about 0.005% as of July 31. I too wonder whether they’ll start charging for holding my cash.

Wonder no more – give it to me and I’ll charge you for holding it. It’ll be worth it for the peace of mind!

This Citi Priority Pak is turning out to be a great deal. I’ve several older CD’s maturing lately & looking for places to hold funds, so I ended up opening 3 of these accts. One for husband, son, & myself. Good place to hold $50k for 3 months.

But what I’m more interested in is the bank bonuses elsewhere that you mentioned earlier.
Any ideas?

I’ve done a few this year. PNC was $500 but now is down to $300. S&T bank for $350 with no DD so was the easiest even if bonus was not as good. Latest one was Citizen bank for $600 (still waiting on bonus). Earlier I did targeted $500 offer from 5/3 bank. A lot of the local banks just keep sending targeted fliers and those are often a bit better than widely available ones on DoC.

I also did Huntington business for $750. That one required $20k (60 days) but also $25k deposit in cash per month which was tedious but worth the effort. It’s also only a local bank though. DH is doing their $500 personal checking one currently. I may try it myself once I’m sure I qualify for it since I already got their business account bonus and they have language saying you may not get bonus if you’ve gotten one within the last 6 months.

If I were you, I’d just start with the DoC list here It has a lot of the non-targetted offers.

The carnage continues apace. Horrid.

I just checked PurePoint because they always cut on Fridays. So far so good but it is really early on the west coast. Need to check again later.

FYI, there are rumors that the $100 referral offer is ending on 8/21. So if you were going to sign up for the 5% up to $500 and 3% up to addl $3k accounts and wanted to get the $100 bonus anyway, would recommend doing so sooner rather than later. I think the $100 referral for checking makes most sense if you and a significant other both sign up, and you refer your significant other for a total of $300 in addition to the 5% up to $1k and 3% up to addl $6k between the two of you.

Also good time to have your significant other sign up with your referral code if you signed up but they haven’t already.

Thanks!

Do u need an account# to get a check deposited?

You need mobile app access so you need your membership account number from your “Welcome to Service Credit Union!” email to sign up for online access (your PIN is the last 4 of your SSN).

I think only the eligibility to apply may be ending on 8/21, not the actual terms to meet the requirements, so I don’t think you have to be in a rush to do that.

Thx. I am trying to get my referal code for spouse to use in time. Just applied today for myself with your referal code. Sounds stupid but I have not ever done a mobile check. Which bank did u use to send it? Is it faster than an ach xfr?

Oh, I see. Thanks for using my code (or possibly TJ’s, as I think I replied to his message so it was the first one there).

I guess I should have clarified, I meant mobile “check deposit” as in depositing a check of $500 or more.

If you want to speed up your application, I would go ahead and go back to the application link, go to “Check Status,” then upload a photo or PDF of your ID, utility/insurance bill, and ACC membership certificate (the one they emailed you when you joined for free with promo code “consumer”).

They do review all the applications manually, so not sure exactly how long it would take.

Hope that helps!

Thx, yes did all those uploads immediately. When you send a mobile check deposit, u still need an account # to deposit into? But it would be faster than an ach where I have to link the servicecu account #. I do not have any avail funds in a bank thst uses plaid. Do the funds have to be avail b4 they will send a code? I believe my initial cc funding will not be avail immediately

U replied “A “mobile check deposit” it just depositing a check using the camera on your phone in the bank/CU’s app.”
Do I use the servicecu mobile up and san in a paper handwritten check from an external bank, such as alliant checking?
Thx for this reply and your answer in advance. IT iS VERY INFOrmative to me

That’s exactly what you do. I wrote a check to myself out of my Alliant CU check book.

You need an account # for mobile check deposit because you will need to set up the Service CU app. I don’t know of a way to set up the app without having an account # .

It is faster than ACH in my experience. If you deposit a check (you write a check to yourself, assuming you have an account with check-writing abilities) and mobile deposit it on their app. If you do it during business hours, it seems to post that evening. In my experience, the funding from a mobile deposit becomes available immediately. You then transfer $5 to your Savings account so you have funding available there also.

Obviously, if you don’t have another account that allows check writing or don’t have checks, you couldn’t do it that way.

Hope that helps!

This is for anyone with the PSECU Add-On CD’s from earlier this year who is still funneling money into PSECU. This may already be known by others, but I just discovered it this weekend. After months and months of ACH transfers mostly using Alliant’s 1 day ACH system to push funds, I decided over the weekend, mostly on a whim, to do a mobile check deposit using PSECU’s system and noticed that the funds from that check deposit were put into my PSECU account immediately and were also immediately available. I am not sure what kind of limits they impose on mobile check deposits, however this could potentially be useful for double interest if timed right. Sure wish I had discovered this months ago.
