How does SaveBetter actually work? I assume your funds are NCUA/FDIC insured, but what if the app breaks or they go BK? Are these banks and CUs just going to open accounts for you?

UFB MM acct advertises 4.81%. I signed up in March at 5.02%, and they are keeping me at 5.02% through 7/4/23. So far so good! Maybe the original signers got to save the 5.02%. can’t find any info on this via the web, and Im certainly not calling them, I have a substantial amount in that acct.

Giddy-up and good luck.

good q. I’m wary of these fintech startups, esp for “safe” funds for a ~ 1%/yr premium

I actually have a “SaveBetter” account. I’ve had the account for a couple years. High interest rate and hopefully consistent income payments. Gotta take a chance now and then.

I hear ya and I do take chances in the market though, not with “safe” money. esp for a ~1% premium

thanks!

Primis Bank has “temporarily” suspended online applications. The rate is 4.92% for both savings and checking. I opened a savings account with a promotion of 5.1%.

I have this account but the bill pay interface is awful and can’t link most (very common) payees electronically. Great rate, 5.1% b/c I’ve been there since early February, but between the nonexistent phone support, the $6k transfer limits and the feeble bill pay the drawbacks can be significant.

I wasn’t aware of the withdrawal limits. They just told me they allow single withdrawals of $6K with a daily limit of $18K. It’s very odd as, apparently, you can do 3 $6K withdrawals one after the other. I haven’t used bill pay.

What’s even weirder is they cap the deposits INTO Primus at 6k/day too!

Guess since they are Primus Bank they’ve decided “To defy the laws of tradition”

There are “no incoming limits for ach and wire transfers.”

Outgoing limit: “For ach transfers $6k per transaction and $18K per day. No limit for wire transfers.”

Primis Bank rep. 6:45 am 7-11-23.

Further: Account opening suspended to expand staff. No timeline. Existing account holders keep their current rate.

Maybe they changed it in the past week but last week there was a hard lock on 6k incoming. I was closing out my WF savings acct after the $525 bonus and had to chop it Primus pull day 1(6k) wh push day 1 (10k cap), Primus pull day 2 (6k), Primus pull day 3 (3k). Wouldn’t trust what the csr claimed unless you’ve done over 6k

Primis is one weird bank. They don’t seem to want our money. In February, I pulled in as much as $50k at a time. The other day, it limited me to the $6K mentioned above. What’s the purpose of that when they let me transfer $5K more a minute later?

People may want to peruse the below thread at Deposit Accounts. Scroll down to “User-submitted Promotions & Notices.”

I’m not referring to the scary title. Downthread, there is discussion, which is applicable to anyone who has over $125,000 at Primis. In short, they are farming out funds over $125,000 to other banks, which could affect FDIC insurance if the money ends up at banks where you may be near the limit. They do allow you to opt out.

They probably got burned by a large transfer, or something reminded them of the potential of being burned.

I have received nothing regarding this. I’m guessing it’s only for savings accounts?
