Those boats look tiny though. Six seems about right for an enjoyable trip that I’d pay more for.
There were only about 10 people on the ship I was on (several hundred capacity, fully electric) at Nærøyfjord in Norway last year and that was great… I screwed up only taking a 2.5 week trip. Should have taken a month and a half https://1drv.ms/u/s!Amylpglo08Rbs2LOuMkWADghbxCw
I know which of those Niagra falls ferries I would book… If US citizens weren’t currently banned from travel to all first world countries because of our incompetent government.
Well, yeah. And I got to the amusement park on Tuesdays, because it’s a relative ghost town compared to weekends. (In a normal summer, of course). Those riding the boat are getting a virtually private cruise, I’m sure no riders are complaining.
But restricting a 700-person boat to less than 1% it’s capacity?
Walk down the steps on either side and you’ll be rethinking going on any of them. I personally like the view from Canada better, primarily because you’re looking at the home of the brave … at least before this virus spread here.
Yikes! I’m lucky to have been visiting lesser world countries for the past couple of months.
What caught my eye was this statement, about 2/3 of the way through the article:
“Canadian authorities are dealing with both unwanted tourists slipping though the border”
The boarder being “closed” doesn’t mean the boarder is closed. There are numerous, mostly unverifiable reasons you are still allowed to cross. The problem isn’t security, it’s people lying about their intentions.
Agreed on Walmart and other businesses requiring what they want, but not on mandates. We seem to survive just fine with mandates like no drunk driving to protect the public, but something simple like wearing a mask is an extreme overreach against my personal liberty?
Please. All you have to do is look at us vs. other countries - we have failed at a leadership level, not a how we treat the virus level. Our leaders have completely failed in setting the right course to prevent the spread, and then failed again to get enough testing in place (including using the Defense Production Act to force test processing expansion) after we lost control.
Is there a relationship between blood type and corona virus susceptibility? That is a question to which no definitive answer today exists. However, there are two studies so far which suggest (only) the possibility that persons with type A blood could be at higher risk. Research regarding this matter is ongoing.
On chance you might be unaware of your blood type, affordable home test kits now exist. This example, which comes out of Denmark, costs ten bucks:
Yes, it looks like type A is higher risk and type O is lower risk. Here’s some more background.
It’s unclear if the risk is for testing positive vs serious disease (although the two are often the same in the early days of scarce tests), and also unclear if the effect is due to the blood type (perhaps due to blood clotting effects caused by the virus, where the surface factors on blood cells might matter), or if the blood type genes are correlated with other immune system genes (which are apparently nearby on the chromosome).
Kemp is saying that cities can’t mandate it. (I don’t know if he’s right or not per GA law)
Kemp can certainly mandate masks if HE wanted to. He clearly doesn’t want to. He has all the power to do that, no question. He can do about anything actually legally under emergency powers (except take away peoples guns.)
Yes, that is one of the studies. The other study, done in China, suggested the same possibility. But research on this matter is ongoing. There is nothing definitive yet.
It appears at this hour as if there will be yet another $1200 stimulus payment to every American adult. Negotiations are ongoing, however this payment seems to have support on both sides of the aisle.
Money to finance this payment, as before, will be raised by taxing your grandchildren and your great grandchildren, with no comment or input being available at this time from either group.
“About 40 percent of adults in the U.S. have at least one underlying health condition that would put them at risk for severe complications of COVID-19, according to a report published Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”.
So going along with the new CDC guidelines of not isolating with only mild symptoms and intentionally spreading faster while “protecting the vulnerable”, I guess the CDC is saying 40% of adults need to just stay home now…
