Masks don’t make it disappear. They make it spread less easily. Hopefully the existing vaccine supply chain logistics can also be resolved over that time. The fed government should have been sorting out supply chain issues while the vaccines were under development, using the DPA as necessary.
Like how in the abandoned sane plan from early this year where testing/ tracing and existing cases would have needed to cross, vaccine distribution and existing viral spread together need to “cross” to get the currently out-of-control pandemic to a manageable level. Mitigation simultaneous with vaccine rollout gets the country to the “other side” faster.
Masks and other social distancing are still going to necessary for much of next year, at a minimum. All of our public health agencies have been consistent on that expectation.

Biden has been clear his plans are to use data- driven metrics to drive policies in different regions (following the health experts). With optimism, some areas will be in better shape at that point… not having a national mask program (if it is only for 100 days) doesn’t mean states, cities, and individuals will just abandon common sense on day 101.
Biden very clearly said “100 days”.
Oh, so it’s going to be up to the states? Sounds an awful lot like the past 9 months…

Nowhere did he say everyone must immediately stop wearing masks on day 101 and should immediately stop listening to local health officials. Yes, he said his plan was just 100 days, not forever…
100 days past jan 20 is May. Maybe we will actually be on the other side ahead of current predictions if there is strong leadership…

Yes, exact words. He did not say anything about disregarding local health officials or a mandate to stop wearing masks on day 101, regardless of what the conditions are locally at that time. That’s a big leap to add that part in… you’re adding the “interpretation”. Biden only referred to what he, as President, would be asking of all Americans.

It’s pure propaganda to try to insinuate they’re going to just wing it.
And he’s referring to planning all the way to actual injection into arms - which is going to vary drastically by location. I’d consider it a mistake for the Federal government to be wasting effort to develop such a detailed plan for thousands of locations, when states are going to end up doing as they deem best anyways. Get it to the states, and let the states take it from there. I see no problem with that, unless your intent is to trash Trump.

I have a “friend” (not me) who not only believes the virus is a hoax, but thinks that a vaccine that is 95% effective means the rest (5%) die. I have no idea where he heard that but didn’t bother to correct him.
That sounds 100% effective. Dead people aren’t ill!

Correct, and I agree. But it’s not a mistake when you’re a Democrat, and they do not view it as wasted effort. Democrats do central planning based on the views of eggheads and ivory tower types with no real world experience. How long is it going to take for you to understand how much smarter these people are compared with mere mortals like you and me?

FDA delays.
PFE applied officially on 11/20, having telegraphed that for two weeks prior when they released the great post-election vaccine efficacy results. the FDA will have taken 20 days from the application if they approve it on 12/10 this week. Why so long when lives are at stake and they have had, or could have had, nearly all the information they needed in advance of the application?
Why are the Democrats and teachers unions filled with such racists trying to oppress the poor minority kids with their school lockdowns?
Failure rates in math and English jumped as much as sixfold for some of the most vulnerable students in Maryland’s largest school system, according to data released as the pandemic’s toll becomes increasingly visible in schools across the country.
In but one stark example, more than 36 percent of ninth-graders from low-income families failed the first marking period in English. That compares with less than 6 percent last year, when the same students took English in eighth grade.
In Montgomery, a diverse system of more than 161,000 students, Black and Hispanic students from families at or near the poverty line were among the most severely affected groups, along with English language learners.
I’m sure their solution will be to abolish grades. Then no teacher can be proven to be failing their students, and the colleges can admit whoever they want based on their racial victimhood personal statement without those pesky grades showing objective measures of discrimination (ala the Harvard and similar anti-Asian college lawsuits).
