The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

I just can’t quite decide if he’s trolling them, or if he thought he was doing (and getting credit for) something really symbolic to celebrate the big day.

Oh, I quite agree with you. I don’t know either. With Trump you never can be certain what he is up to. That’s a key element of his mystique. He keeps people off balance. He plays chess while most are playing checkers.

But at the bottom line the suffragettes, bless their activist hearts, came through for him by being so outraged.

That’s obviously the goal. Congrats, you’re in Trump’s head, alongside Hillary who still lives there rent-free! (Trump was still talking about Hillary yesterday… Hahaha).

See? By declaring Susan B Anthony committed a crime but I personally forgive her transgression, I care more about women’s issues than everyone else! Can you imagine no previous President re-affirmed she committed a crime? All they did is honor her… Pshhh…
I’ve done more for social justice and civil rights than anyone! Except maybe Lincoln. Did you know Lincoln was a Republican? No one knew, but I noticed it. Because I’m a very stable genius, I guess I have a good uh-brain, I’m cognitively “there”.

Crying. It’s unfair Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx are polling higher than me! WHY DON’T PEOPLE LIKE ME?? It must just be my personality…
it’s pretty insane that that last paragraph is almost a direct quote.

You’re preaching the wrong optics. They’re there as someone who stood their ground against rioters. I kind of prefer the not-taking-any-more-crap attitude over another dime-a-dozen sob story, but you’re right in that there should be a number of other options to better represent that perspective.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Portland guy discussed above as a late addition. If he’s even capable of speaking right now…

I’m a Trump fan without hesitation. That said, though:

I have had qualms about Paul Manafort nearly from the start. The guy is a bit weird.

A weakness of Trump from the jump has been that he arrived on the scene with no background in politics. Let me contrast with Biden, an old pol:

Biden, if he wins, will be able to populate hundreds of key jobs throughout the executive rapidly. He probably knows most of the people personally. Trump?

As a non-politician businessman, Trump simply did not have enough political connections at the outset to get an administration going . . . or even a CAMPAIGN for that matter. That led to Trump granting admission to his orbit of some clinkers. And Manafort was one of those.

The facts are they were recklessnessly irresponsible. There’s no spinning that otherwise to responsible gunowners. Sure, people who aren’t paying attention might buy into the spin.

Yes, I agree there would be some other options to better push the narrative that “all protestors are bad. They have no valid reasons to even protest, all of them are violently looting, and no Democrats want to do anything about it” (despite the absolutes not really matching with actual facts, if it were better represented it might be more convincing ).

Rasmussen’s daily tracking has reacted to last evening’s DNC convention roll out.

Trump is UP! Suspect by Thursday, after America has had a snoot full of Democrat weirdness, Trump will be back up over 50% approval.

Joe Biden’s POTUS candidacy has already been rejected by this country twice before. It will happen again.

Here’s a drinking game for the convention if you need some help to get thru it.

BONUS RULE: Drink every time someone blames Trump for coronavirus deaths. Make your own group judgment as to whether or not the blame is deserved.

WOKE MAD LIBS EXCEPTION: If an MSNBC commentator or a speaker uses any of the following terms, you may stop drinking for an hour to “reclaim” your sobriety: performative, white-adjacent, Latinx, decolonize, invisibilize, solidarity, interrogate, normalize, privilege (as a verb), dismantle, erase, lived experience, (anything)-splaining, heteronormative, habitus, cultural appropriation, essentialist , or trigger .

Democrats are not this stupid. It has now emerged that Biden’s speech to the nation will be delivered LIVE.

Kamala will also speak live and in person when time for her convention speech arrives.

But the real drama will be with Biden. I’m not bothering with the Democrat convention; bunch of horsefeathers.

But Biden’s speech, presented live, will be must see TV for me and I’m sure for millions of other Americans. You never know what the guy is gonna say, even when he is on the prompter!!

It should be a lot of fun.

Did you know Jeff Davis, Robert E Lee, Nathan Bedford Forrest and nearly all the Confederates were Democrats? Not many people know that. Isn’t it curious that Trump and his supporters want to keep statues of Democrats?

Trump has done more for white people then anyone! Except maybe Jeff Davis and Robert E. Lee.

So was Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia. Senator Byrd was one of Biden’s best friends. He was also a Grand Wizard of the KKK. Biden’s friend wrote as follows, and I quote:

“I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side. Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

I’m not curious. Trump is interested in leaving historical statues alone.

Also another reminder that Democrats then are not the same as today.

Tell me, shinobi, how is the President’s continuous attack and angering of the opposition good for the country? Why do you support such actions?

No it hasn’t. It’s up by 1%, which is a typical daily variation. You’re being ridiculous.

Good lord, it seems like I’m on the same page as AOC…

(I don’t know about pen pals specifically, but the whole “buy more stamps and mail stuff” concept.)

The McCain tribute seemed pretty well done.
I personally don’t share Trump’s disgruntled view towards all POWs as failed service members.
McCain also had a fairly respectable service record in Congress (seems like he went off the rails on policy position flips to absurd positions when he ran for president… But then reverted most of those back to reasonable afterwards).

Yeah, I never understood the whole feud thing. Anyone can not like anyone for any number of reasons, but that seemed like a really odd place (for Trump) to draw a line.

It’s taken far too long, and I wish it’d show up in legislating rather than campaigning. But remember all the times I’ve said I thought Trump as President could be a really great uniter? Unfortunately, I suspect this Republican presence at the Dem convention is just blind anti-Trump crusading, and not anything productive that will facilitate compromise going forward.
