Trump’s sister is as annoying as Kamala. She is just another wild-eyed lib. I am so tired of these liberal maniacs, whether from San Francisco (Kamala) or from NYC (the sister), receiving the kind of attention they garner routinely. Neither NYC nor San Francisco is representative of America. Both are outliers. Enough of this BS!!
The one I really don’t trust is Ivanka. She I suspect has learned little in the last several years. She is a NYC denizen to her core, liberal as they come, and far too influential with her father. They list that many deaths because like in everything the Chinese government does, they lie through their teeth. Just like they deliberately lied about human transmission, covered up the severity of the outbreak, lied about airborne transmission, bought up all the US PPE early on, and, I should add, played a large role in infecting the rest of the world by intentionally shutting down Wuhan from domestic travel but not shutting international flights. If it’s going to cripple your economy relative to the world, you might as well make sure it gets out so you’re not at a geopolitical disadvantage.
No one trusts the virus numbers out of China, Russia, or Brazil because either they’re deliberately underreporting them for nationalistic reasons (a few Russian doctors who talked about how bad the virus was apparently fell out of hospital windows and died) or because they just aren’t testing enough to know or report accurate numbers. Brazil and most of Africa, South America, and India fall into the latter categories as well. For those in the third world where you don’t have access to all the fancy antivirals or vaccine trials like the US or EU, what good is it to test? If you get sick, you go to the hospital and hope they’ll take you. For many, they can’t afford to stay home and protect everyone around them because they’re poor and if they don’t work, they won’t have the resources to live day to day.

Surely that never ever happened prior to Trump, right? 3 weeks isnt delayed because of operational changes, it’s simply lost like what sometimes happens.
I’ll ask this - what is that person living 20 miles down a dirt road receiving in the mail on a daily basis, to require daily mail delivery service? Reality is, 99% of what’s delivered in the mail today, could be delivered tomorrow and cause zero adverse consequences to anyone. Reality is, people have simply become spoiled by a service level that far exceeds necessity.
Bottom line is, if you want a guaranteed delivery timeframe, pay the postage for the guaranteed delivery timeframe.
Leadership could have been better certainly. But the WHO and the CDC were the ones saying not to wear masks and the Democrats including Biden were denouncing travel bans as racist instead of a common sense pandemic precaution which Trump implemented (probably still too late, but better late than never). I agree Trump’s subsequent leadership was subpar, but at that point it was way too late to stop this.
If you want to see it done right, look at Taiwan - they sent their own people over to China to see the situation and when they came back they restricted and subsequently banning all flight from China as early as late Dec 2019. I seem to recall the Democratic leadership was busy with a failed impeachment back then and didn’t seem to care about the American people much.
If you look at death rates per capita, even among EU countries where you might believe their numbers, the US is still doing better than Spain, Italy, the UK, and Brazil even with what they report. You’re welcome to compare state level responses to political leanings within the US and you’ll see blue states have higher death rates than red ones at least so far. Praising the local leadership hasn’t worked so well for NY, CA, NJ, etc.
All this is by way of saying I don’t think absent very strong, decisive, and early action there was any way to stop this virus given we now know it’s airborne and asymptomatic transmission characteristics. With a politically divided government at the start of the pandemic, there was no way the US was going to do this and to claim some Democrats were going to close the boarders to all those poor illegal immigrants beggars belief. We can see no EU country managed to contain this either and those are reasonable proxies for how a free country with a rational policy response might have reacted to the virus at the time absent our political gridlock. There’s a reason the market crashed 30% or whatever in Feb/Mar when it became clear how bad this was - because it was a surprise versus most people’s expectations and by then it was way too late to contain it globally.
This pretty much discredits everything you’ve been saying, but you’re welcome to your opinion.

I wouldn’t say china’s more trustworthy than trump myself. They’re pretty equally untrustworthy. They have different motivations though. Trump only cares about Trump. China only cares about the PRC. Both lie and take actions accordingly. Trump will actively damage US interests to further his personal wants. China will actively damage US interests to further PRC goals.
The problem is that usually one would expect the foreign adversary to have different goals, but one would also expect our own President to put the country first and not personal whims.
In other news:
I disagree. He focuses on the end result, not the process of getting there. A lot of his end goals would be completely benign, if not admirable, if people would stop obstructing (yes, sometimes justifiably) his (sometimes idiotic) path of getting there. Most of the hatred is rooted in how he’s doing it, not the end goal - opposing the end goal is just normal philosophical differences we see with every administration.
What else is he supposed to say? Even leaving the door open to a single term would be putting his health and age front and center. Heck, if acknowledging a single term is possible, he might as well acknowledge the possibility of retiring mid-term.

But I was actually surprised earlier today when it came out on the Sunday morning shows that Trump’s sister, Judge Trump, failed to attend Robert Trump’s funeral. Robert Trump, her brother, recently passed away. He and President Trump were very close.
Apparently the division in the family extends beyond even President Trump personally. I could understand Judge Trump not attending, for example, a funeral for President Trump, whom she detests. But Robert Trump! Such hate as that reflects is not a good thing to embrace or harbor.
